Lawyers representing more than 150 Tamil asylum seekers say they will use a High Court hearing to try to quash any attempts to return them to India.

The 157 asylum seekers, who were detained on an Australian Customs vessel for almost a month after being intercepted at sea, were expected to be flown from the Cocos Islands to the Curtin Detention Centre in remote Western Australia on Saturday night.

The arrival is a political blow for the Abbott government, which has promoted its success in preventing asylum seeker boats from reaching the Australian mainland.

Prime Minister Tony Abbott said on Saturday the government remains committed to doing whatever it ”morally and ethically can” to stop the boats.

Immigration Minister Scott Morrison has said Indian consular officials will conduct face-to-face interviews with the asylum seekers, who departed from the south Indian city of Pondicherry, and that none of the asylum seekers will be resettled in Australia.

India has said it will take back any of its citizens and will consider taking Sri Lankan nationals who are Indian non-citizen residents.

Lawyer George Newhouse, who is representing a group of the Tamil asylum seekers, said an existing High Court challenge against the government will now focus on whether the asylum seekers can be sent from the mainland to India or Sri Lanka.

”The High Court will be asked to consider whether it is legal for the government to send the asylum seekers back to the country they are fleeing from or to a country where they face a risk of refoulment,” he said.

Mr Newhouse said lawyers are concerned about the safety of asylum seekers who are returned to India because the country has not signed the UN Refugee Convention.

The asylum seekers’ case is due to be heard before a full bench of the High Court in Canberra on August 5. Sources said most of the asylum seekers were Sri Lankan Tamils.

Refugee lawyers welcomed the decision to bring the asylum seekers to the mainland, but said they were alarmed by India’s involvement in processing their claims.

”People who are seeking protection should never be put in a position where they are exposed to officials from another country without a proper assessment first being made of their claims of persecution,” Refugee and Immigration Legal Centre executive director David Manne said. ”It is completely unclear what proper role Indian officials have interviewing Sri Lankan asylum seekers.”

Asylum Seeker Resource Centre chief executive Kon Karapanagiotidis said: ”It’s unheard of – giving another government access to asylum seekers. It’s deeply problematic and I don’t think it’s fair. I question whether it is legal, and we have a legal process to deal with those questions.”

Mr Abbott said the government’s policies were working and that it would stand by them. ”This is the first boat which has got as close to success, if you like, as one has in many a long month,” he said.

Mr Abbott said no asylum seekers who arrive by boat will be resettled in Australia.

Labor foreign affairs spokeswoman Tanya Plibersek said: ”The only thing that stopped the processing of these asylum seekers weeks ago is Scott Morrison’s ego.

”It is important now that the government fully answer questions about where the asylum seekers are, where they’re going, and what’s going to happen to them.”

The government says that it has had a rare contact with members of one of a few isolated indigenous tribes along the border with Peru in the Amazon region, and that the group has suffered violent attacks and exposure to disease.

The Amazon region, especially in Brazil, is home to tribes that live by hunting and gathering and have never made significant contact with wider society. There are believed to be four such tribes in the Brazilian border region and two on the Peru side.

The group of seven people, who speak what is believed to be a language of the Pano linguistic group, crossed into western Brazil from Peru in June and made contact with another indigenous settlement, which notified the Brazilian government, said Brazil’s National Indian Foundation, or FUNAI. The government sent out a team of interpreters to find out what had happened.

FUNAI said in a statement this week that members of the tribe had contracted the flu and were treated at a government outpost deep in the Amazon before returning home. “In talks conducted with the group through interpreters, they said they had suffered acts of violence carried out by non-indigenous peoples at the head of the Envira River in Peru,” it said.

Brazil’s Amazon region is thought to be home to as many as 77 such isolated groups. This was the first significant contact with any isolated tribe since 1996, when FUNAI made contact with members of the Korubo tribe in an area to the north, the foundation said.

FUNAI has a policy of avoiding unwanted contact and preserving the land rights of indigenous groups. The suggestion that violence and disease in these fragile communities recently forced them off of their land and into contact with authorities, is troubling, indigenous rights groups say.

It’s extremely rare for the tribes to move into other groups’ land unless there is serious trouble, said Fiona Watson, research director at Survival International, an indigenous rights organization.

“This is extremely worrying,” said Watson, who added that her group had found evidence of logging, coca cultivation and drug trafficking near the indigenous-occupied region on the Peruvian side of the border.

“The most immediate question is of the flu. People who have had no contact for so long have no immunity to things like the flu or the common cold, and we know from past experience that it wasn’t uncommon after forced contact for half of the tribe to die,” she said.

“Something pushed them into this contact,” Watson said. “They said, or were able to show, that they had been shot at with firearms. Are there others that are being killed? That’s quite likely. These peoples have bow and arrows to defend themselves against heavily armed peoples.”

In 2010, FUNAI photographed some of the uncontacted peoples in a flyover to prove their existence and pressure the governments of Brazil and Peru to respect the inhabitants’ territories. The images showed a seemingly healthy and harmonious community. When members saw the aircraft, they daubed on red paint and grabbed their bows and arrows.

The individuals who made contact over the last month are not believed to be the ones in the photographs. There are an estimated 600 people in the tribal groups on the Brazilian side of the border.

In Peru and Brazil, indigenous communities have rights, but they are often violated by farmers or other landowners who plunder the groups’ land or expel them.

In glamorous five star hotels across Singapore every weekend, property investors are lining up to buy a slice of the Australian dream.

Cashed up investors are piling into packed presentations at venues such as the famous St Regis hotel about shiny apartments being built from Sydney to Melbourne. Newspaper ads spruiking waterfront developments are commonplace.

“Buy where the local Australians are buying,” says ​​one ad in Singapore’s Straits Times.

Singaporean investors are being lured by a combination of new, prohibitive taxes on second homes in the island state, record low interest rates, a strong ​currency and promises of attractive returns from Australian developers.

‘‘Singaporeans are hungry for Australian property,’’ says Adam Sparkes, ​director of sales at property developer Crown Group International, which has $3.5 billion in development sites across Australia.

The Singaporean sales pitch comes amid increased focus over offshore buyers snapping up local property. This is stoking fears that prices in an already heated market could be pushed up further.

Foreign investment now accounts for about 13 per cent of turnover in the Australian ​real estate market, according to UBS economist Scott Haslam. He says offshore investment in housing nearly doubled over the past year – most of which came from China.

Even so, there is often confusion about what offshore buyers can do. Under Australia’s foreign investment laws, non-residents are permitted to buy newly built dwellings – after gaining Foreign Investment Review Board approval – but cannot buy established homes.

The latest available figures from the FIRB for the 2012-13 financial year, ​rank Singapore is the fourth-biggest source of foreign funds invested in Australian real estate, with about $2 billion spent. China was the biggest, with almost three times that much.

Adam Sparkes expects Singaporeans to ​make up as much as 10 per cent of ​its client base by next year​, and ​Singaporean desire to get a foothold in the Australian market has spurred ​it ​to open an office on the Asian island.

“All the right factors are in Singapore,” said Brian Eng, a foreign real estate manager at ​Singapore real estate firm ​Jalin. “A strong exchange rate, a robust economy and a love for the Australian lifestyle.”

New laws introduced in the city state last year ​slug a 15 per cent tax on second homes.

The tax was designed to prevent first home buyers in Singapore, where land is restricted, from being completely forced out of the market. The rules do not apply to properties purchased offshore.

​And​ while Chinese investors may still be the most significant foreign presence ​in the Australian property market, developers and property industry executives say Singaporeans are emerging as ​serious players​.

Brian Eng believes the connection has as much to do with emotional ties as it does financial incentives.

“Singaporeans have a love affair with Australian properties, they’ve studied there before, worked in these cities.” Mr Eng said. “It reminds them of good times, it’s not uncommon for them to stay and work in Australia for 10 years after they have finished their studies.”

Still, prospective buyers are also being told to do their due diligence.

Misleading ads used to spruik Sydney

Singapore-based property author Vina Ip is concerned that the rosy picture painted by Australian developers in glamorous presentations at the St Regis hotel is tainted by rental guarantees and other incentives.

“I always warn people to actually go to see the properties themselves, go for a trip and see where its located, talk to the landlords and see if the rental return is actually that good,” Ms Ip said.

Some ads include location pitches that could best be described as generous.

The presentation for Mirvac’s Harold Park complex in Glebe, though not to scale, gives the impression that the site of the former trot raceway is bigger than the large Sydney suburbs of Leichhardt and Annandale combined. It also points out it is conveniently located next to the harbour foreshore. As most in the inner city suburb know, access to the harbour can be tricky.

Another ad on Singapore property site, Jalin, for Australand’s Botanica complex in Lidcombe describes it as being in Sydney’s inner west.

By most definitions, Lidcombe falls well to the west of the boundaries of the cosmopolitan suburbs of the inner city Sydney.

Offers of exclusive access also abound.

“Only available to Singapore investors through IP Global, exceptional terms” an ad for Brisbane development Newstead Towers read last week – just one of a number of similar offers across the Australian east coast.

Australian properties advertised in Singapore come with guarantees of a minimum 6 per cent annual rental return and a waiving of stamp duties and legal fees. By most measures, however, these figures represent a premium to the market.

Rental yields in apartments in Melbourne and Sydney ranged between 4.8 and 5 per cent in the March quarter, according to property listing business Domain.

“A 6 per cent guarantee would indicate a top up from the developer,’’ said Domain senior economist Andrew Wilson.

Tim Lawless, a director of property research firm RP Data notes a yield of 6 per cent ‘‘is well above market’’.

“When the guarantee period expires, in all likelihood, the purchaser will be left holding an asset on a lower yield,” he says.

The developers offering such guarantees, including Kokoda Property in central Melbourne, Newstead in Brisbane and their Singaporean agent, Reapfield Property Consultants, all declined to comment.

Even so, these risks haven’t deterred Singaporean investors.

“In Singapore if you get a 2 to 3 per cent rental return it’s considered very lucky,” says Singaporean property author, Vina Ip. This makes the 6 per cent return on Australian properties look attractive, she adds.

Low rates attracting buyers

But apart from the big ticket promises of Australian developers, ​and the new, big taxes on investment properties, there are other reasons for the ​interest from Singaporean ​investors​.

Singaporeans seeking to buy in Australia are able to borrow at significantly lower interest rates than their local counterparts.

ANZ’s Singapore unit is currently advertising a standard variable interest rate of 1.17 per cent. By contrast, ANZ Australia’s standard variable interest rate currently sits at 5.88 per cent.

This interest rate differential looks likely to continue, with the Singaporean Central bank setting the cash rate in June at 0.21 per cent, compared with Australia’s target of 2.5 per cent. At the same time, the Singapore dollar and Australian dollar have traditionally traded in a relatively tight range, minimising currency risk.

With Australian banks targeting foreign investors, a federal parliamentary inquiry this week raised questions about the checks they are conducting on overseas buyers.

ANZ bank and Macquarie Group were asked to provide details to a broader House of Representatives economics committee inquiry into residential housing. The banks were asked what steps they took to ensure various foreign investment rules were followed.

Little effect on first home buyers

While there are lingering concerns that offshore interest in property could be pricing out first home buyers, many say this just dosen’t reflect reality.

‘‘Most first home buyers buy established, rather than new, dwellings; the first home buyer’s average purchase price of $328,000 is far below the price point of most foreign purchases,” UBS’ Mr Haslem says.

At the same time Reserve Bank research which found that first home buyers’ degree of competition with foreign buyers was ‘‘likely to be fairly small’’.

“We’re empathetic to the plight of first home buyers,” says Jessica Darnbrough, from mortgage broker Mortgage Choice.

“But the reality is that at the end of the day, new properties are a good thing for the construction sector.”

New properties aren’t just coming from Australian developers. Singapore is bringing its own developers to town, with construction giant Hiap Hoe building two of Melbourne’s CBD’s largest developments, Marina Tower in Melbourne’s redeveloped Docklands area and another on Lonsdale St.

As long as the prohibitive conditions on the purchase of second homes exists in Singapore and the economic climate remains favourable, Ms Ip believes that Singaporeans will continue to look to Australian property as an investment haven, spurred on by generous rental guarantees from hungry Australian developers.

“They have no choice but to look overseas,” Ms Ip says.

Ο ισραηλινός στρατός, ο οποίος ανακοίνωσε νωρίτερα σήμερα την παράταση της κατάπαυσης του πυρός ως τα μεσάνυχτα, κατόπιν έκανε γνωστό πως εβλήθησαν τρεις ρουκέτες και κατόπιν όλμοι από τη Λωρίδα της Γάζας. «Οι τρομοκράτες επέλεξαν να επωφεληθούν από την ανθρωπιστική εκεχειρία στη Γάζα», ανέφερε ο ισραηλινός στρατός σε ανακοίνωσή του.

Μια εκπρόσωπος του στρατού, η Άβιταλ Λάιμποβιτς, είχε κάνει νωρίτερα λόγο για ρίψεις «ρουκετών παρά την παράταση της ανθρωπιστικής εκεχειρίας» έως τα μεσάνυχτα που ανακοίνωσε η ισραηλινή κυβέρνηση. «Τρία βλήματα όλμων εβλήθησαν από τη Γάζα στο Ισραήλ», διευκρίνισε  αμέσως μετά ο ισραηλινός στρατός.

Σειρήνες ήχησαν σε πολλές κοινότητες του νότιου Ισραήλ κοντά στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας αμέσως μετά τις 20:00, 12 ώρες μετά την έναρξη της ισχύος της κατάπαυσης του πυρός στις 08:00.

Σύμφωνα με ισραηλινά ΜΜΕ, τα πυρά αυτά δεν αποτελούν, κατά την άποψη των ισραηλινών ενόπλων δυνάμεων, σοβαρή παραβίαση της εκεχειρίας.

Η Χαμάς επίσημα δεν είχε αντιδράσει ως τις 20:30 στην απόφαση του Ισραήλ να παρατείνει την κατάπαυση του πυρός.

Υπενθυμίζεται πως το Ισραήλ συμφώνησε νωρίτερα σήμερα να παρατείνει κατά τέσσερις ώρες την ανθρωπιστική εκεχειρία που συμφωνήθηκε με τη Χαμάς και άλλες ένοπλες οργανώσεις στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας σήμερα, δήλωσε ισραηλινή κυβερνητική πηγή η οποία ζήτησε να μην κατονομαστεί.

Επίσης, έχει συμφωνήσει να παραταθεί η αρχική 12ωρη εκεχειρία ως τις 24:00 (τοπική ώρα και ώρα Ελλάδας). Η εκεχειρία τυπικά θα έληγε στις 20:00.

Συγκεκριμένα, ισραηλινός ιδιωτικός τηλεοπτικός σταθμός μετέδωσε ότι το συμβούλιο ασφαλείας της ισραηλινής κυβέρνησης «συμφώνησε να παραταθεί για τέσσερις ώρες, έως τα μεσάνυκτα του Σαββάτου» η κατάπαυση του πυρός.

Η διεθνής κοινότητα είχε απευθύνει έκκληση να παραταθεί η εκεχειρία. Νωρίτερα, η ισραηλινή πλευρά ξεκαθάρισε ότι θα απαντήσει άμεσα σε περίπτωση που δεχθεί επίθεση.

Την ίδια, ώρα, σε εξέλιξη είναι από το μεσημέρι στο Παρίσι η διεθνής σύνοδος για τη Μέση Ανατολή, στην οποία συμμετέχουν οι ΗΠΑ, η Βρετανία, η Γερμανία, η Ιταλία, η Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση, η Τουρκία και το Κατάρ, με τις δύο τελευταίες να είναι οι χώρες που διατηρούν καλές σχέσεις με τη Χαμάς.

Όπως τόνισε, ο Γάλλος υπουργός Εξωτερικών Λοράν Φαμπιούς, οι υπουργοί Εξωτερικών ζήτησαν στην σύνοδο την παράταση της 12ωρης εκεχειρίας που συμφώνησε το Ισραήλ με την Χαμάς στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας.

«Ολοι μας ζητούμε από τις εμπλεκόμενες πλευρές την παράταση της στρατιωτικής εκεχειρίας που βρίσκεται αυτή τη στιγμή σε ισχύ», δήλωσε ο Φαμπιούς στους δημοσιογράφους.

“Αυτό που είναι απαραίτητο τώρα είναι να σταματήσουν οι ανθρώπινες απώλειες”, δήλωσε στους δημοσιογράφους από την πλευρά του ο υπουργός Εξωτερικών της Βρετανίας Φίλιπ Χάμοντ.

“Και σταματούμε την απώλεια σε ανθρώπινες ζωές παρατείνοντας αυτή την εκεχειρία από 12 σε 24 ώρες ή 48 ώρες και ξανά στη συνέχεια μέχρι να υπάρξει ένα επίπεδο εμπιστοσύνης που επιτρέπει στις εμπλεκόμενες πλευρές να καθίσουν στο τραπέζι των διαπραγματεύσεων και να συζητήσουν για ουσιώδη ζητήματα”, πρόσθεσε ο ίδιος.

Οι υπουργοί μαζί με τον υψηλόβαθμο διπλωμάτη της ΕΕ Πιερ Βιμόν, συναντήθηκαν την ίδια ημέρα που το Ισραήλ έθεσε σε εφαρμογή την 12ωρη εκεχειρία στη διάρκεια της οποίας είπε ότι θα συνεχίσει να αναζητεί τις σήραγγες που χρησιμοποιεί η Χαμάς.

Από την πλευρά της, η ισλαμιστική οργάνωση που διοικεί τη Γάζα, δεσμεύτηκε να τηρήσει την εκεχειρία την ώρα που ο αριθμός των νεκρών Παλαιστινίων από την έναρξη των ισραηλινών στρατιωτικών επιχειρήσεων, σύμφωνα με αξιωματούχο του υπουργείου Υγείας στη Γάζα, ανήλθε σε 1.000.

Το «παρών» στη συνάντηση αυτή δίνει και η επικεφαλής της ευρωπαϊκής διπλωματίας Κάθριν Άστον, ενώ σε αυτή τη φάση ωστόσο δεν παρίστανται εκπρόσωποι του Ισραήλ, της Χαμάς ή της Παλαιστινιακής Αρχής.

Ξεπέρασαν τους 1000 οι νεκροί Παλαιστίνιοι

Την ίδια ώρα, τουλάχιστον 76 σοροί Παλαιστινίων έχουν ανασυρθεί από τα ερείπια στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας αφότου τέθηκε σε ισχύ η εκεχειρία, σύμφωνα με τις τοπικές αρχές, ενώ ο αριθμός των νεκρών Παλαιστινίων από την έναρξη της ισραηλινής στρατιωτικής επιχείρησης έχει ήδη ξεπεράσει τους 1000 κι αναμένεται να αυξηθεί σημαντικά.

Περίπου 6.000 είναι οι τραυματίες στη Γάζα από τις 8 Ιουλίου που ξεκίνησε η επιχείρηση και οι περισσότεροι από αυτούς είναι άμαχοι, σύμφωνα με απολογισμό που έδωσαν σήμερα στη δημοσιότητα οι τοπικές αρχές.

Ένας εθελοντής της παλαιστινιακής Ερυρθάς Ημισελήνου σκοτώθηκε και τρεις τραυματίστηκαν σε επίθεση που δέχτηκαν δύο ασθενοφόρα της ανθρωπιστικής οργάνωσης στην Μπέιτ Χανούν, αναφέρει σε Δελτίο Τύπου η διεθνής επιτροπή Ερυθρού Σταυρού, επισημαίνοντας ότι τα ασθενοφόρα έφεραν εμφανώς το έμβλημα της οργάνωσης.

Οι κάτοικοι στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας προσπαθούν να συγκεντρώσουν βασικές προμήθειες σε τρόφιμα, νερό και φάρμακα στη διάρκεια της εκεχειρίας, ενώ κάποιοι Παλαιστίνιοι οι οποίοι έχουν ήδη εγκαταλείψει τα σπίτια τους επιχειρούν να επιστρέψουν σε αυτά αλλά τα περισσότερα έχουν καταστραφεί.

Το Ισραήλ είναι αντιμέτωπο με διεθνείς επικρίσεις για τις μεγάλες απώλειες ζωών αμάχων στη Λωρίδα της Γάζας και κυρίως παιδιών.

Η Unicef έκανε λόγο χθες Παρασκευή για «τουλάχιστον 192» παιδιά που έχουν χάσει τη ζωή τους κατά την επέμβαση του ισραηλινού στρατού στη Γάζα.

Εξάλλου σύμφωνα με την UNRWA, 160.000 πρόσφυγες έχουν αναζητήσει καταφύγιο στις εγκαταστάσεις της, δηλαδή το 10% το πληθυσμού του παλαιστινιακού θύλακα.

“He is coming with the mentality to make more history,” said Jose Mourinho after confirming that Chelsea have re-signed striker Didier Drogba on a one-year contract.

Drogba, who has re-joined on a free transfer, returns to the club he served with distinction over a period of eight seasons following a two-year absence, having established himself at Stamford Bridge as one of the most successful players in the Blues’ history.

During his first spell with the west Londoners, the 36-year-old, who was signed by Mourinho in his own first stint at the club in 2004, made 226 Barclays Premier League appearances and scored 100 goals.

An imposing physical presence with a clinical eye in front of goal Drogba helped Chelsea establish themselves as a major force in English and European club football, winning three Barclays Premier League titles, four FA Cups, two League Cups as well as the UEFA Champions League. Indeed, the Ivorian’s last act as a Chelsea player was to score the winning penalty in the Champions League final shoot-out against Bayern Munich – a match in which he had also conjured a late equalising header to force extra time.

“It was an easy decision,” Drogba, who has won the Premier League Golden Boot twice, told chelseafc.com. “I couldn’t turn down the opportunity to work with Jose again. Everyone knows the special relationship I have with this club and it has always felt like home to me.

“My desire to win is still the same and I look forward to the opportunity to help this team. I am excited for this next chapter of my career.”

Since leaving Chelsea in 2012 Drogba has played for Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua and Galatasaray, of the Turkish Super Lig, and the man responsible for bringing him to Chelsea in the first place believes he still has what it takes to thrive in the Barclays Premier League.

“He’s coming because he’s one of the best strikers in Europe,” added Mourinho, who has already signed striker Diego Costa, midfielder Cesc Fabregas and left-back Filipe Luis this summer. “I know his personality very well and I know if he comes back he’s not protected by history or what he’s done for this club previously. He is coming with the mentality to make more history.”

Το STUDIO 3 του Νιούκαστλ άρχισε να λειτουργεί  την Παρασκευή 25 Ιουλίου 1997 και πραγματοποίησε την τελευταία του εκπομπή την Τρίτη 25 Σεπτεμβρίου 2012. Στα 15 χρόνια και δύο μήνες που λειτούργησε επηρέασε την καθημερινή ζωή όχι μόνο πολλών ομογενών της πόλης του Νιούκαστλ και ΝΝΟ  αλλά και ακόμη πολλών πατριωτών στην Ελλάδα.

Το STUDIO 3 δημιουργήθηκε με σκοπό την ένταξη της πόλης του Νιούκαστλ στο δίκτυο του νεοσύστατου ραδιοσταθμού “Σύμπαν” του Σίδνευ. Στο διάστημα που λειτούργησε προσέφερε εκπομπές όπως ΤΟ ΤΡΙΤΟ ΣΤΟΝ ΑΕΡΑ, ΕΣΕΙΣ ΚΑΙ Η ΤΥΧΗ ΣΑΣ, ΡΑΝΤΕΒΟΥ ΜΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΚΑΛΛΙΤΕΧΝΕΣ, ΚΑΛΗΜΕΡΑ ΠΑΡΟΙΚΙΑ, ΑΘΛΗΤΙΚΗ ΑΝΑΣΚΟΠHΣΗ, ΡΑΔΙΟΖΕΥΞΗ  ΜΕ  ΤΗΝ ΚΑΛΥΜΝΟ, ΡΑΔΙΟΣΥΝΕΝΤΕΥΞΕΙΣ ενώ  εμπλούτισε το πρόγραμμα του σταθμού με την αναμετάδοση δεκάδων εκπομπών από την Ελλάδα. (To “Σύμπαν” συνέχισε να μεταδίδει εκπομπές από το Σίδνευ μόνο, έως τις 20 Ιουλίου  2014).

Εκτός από τις εκπομπές διοργάνωσε πολλούς χορούς και εκδρομές για όλους τους ‘Ελληνες της περιοχής γεφυρώνοντας τις διαφορές που χώριζαν τους Ομογενείς του Νιούκαστλ για δεκαετίες. Υπήρξε ένας  ενωτικός κρίκος της Ομογένειας του Νιούκαστλ με τον Ελληνισμό της υπόλοιπης ΝΝΟ και προσέφερε την ευκαιρία για την απόκτηση δεσμούς φιλίας  ανάμεσα σε πολλούς ‘Ελληνες.

ΕΚΠΟΜΠΕΣ:

1. ΤΟ ΤΡΙΤΟ ΣΤΟΝ ΑΕΡΑ

Η εκπομπή Το Τρίτο Στον Αέρα  ξεκίνησε την Παρασκευή 25 Ιουλίου 1997 και  διήρκεσε καθ’ όλη την 15χρονη ζωή του STUDIO 3. Τα πρώτα 13 χρόνια η εκπομπή έβγαινε στον αέρα κάθε Παρασκευή βράδυ από τις 10.00 έως τις 12.00. Τα τελευταία 3 χρόνια ακουγόταν κάθε  Δευτέρα  από τις 6.00 έως 8.00 το βράδυ.  Η τελευταία εκπομπή ακούστηκε την Δευτέρα 24 Σεπτεμβρίου 2012. Επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής της εκπομπής από την πρώτη μέρα ήταν ο Θωμάς Τσαμούρας  ενώ  μετά τα πρώτα 5 χρόνια  συμπαρουσιάστρια της εκπομπής έγινε  η Μαίρη Καλλιγέρου.

2. ΕΣΕΙΣ ΚΑΙ Η ΤΥΧΗ ΣΑΣ  (ΡΑΔΙΟΠΑΙΧΝΙΔΙ):

Αρχικά η εκπομπή είχε την ονομασία “ Ραδιοπαιχνίδι” και στα πρώτα 3 χρόνια επιμελητές και παρουσιαστές ήταν η Ρόζα Γιαλοπούλη, Πέτρος Καραβατάκης και Θωμάς Τσαμούρας.

Τα τελευταία 13 χρόνια και με την ονομασία ΕΣΕΙΣ ΚΑΙ Η ΤΥΧΗ ΣΑΣ  επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής ήταν ο Θωμάς Τσαμούρας. Από το 2001 έως το 2012 μέγαλη υπήρξε και η συμβουλή του κ. Αδάμ από την πόλη του Γούλογκογκ με την προσφορά ερωτήσεων κάθε εβδομάδα.

Η εκπομπή ήταν 2ωρη και στα 15 χρόνια της ακουγόταν κάθε Παρασκευή βράδι μεταξύ 8.00 και 10.00. Σκοπός της εκπομπής ήταν η ενημέρωση και διασκέδαση με διαγωνισμούς και ερωτήσεις τρίβια και σπαζοκεφαλιές. Οι συμμετέχοντες απαντούσαν τηλεφωνικός ή από το διαδίκτυο. Τα τρία άτομα με τις περισσότερες σωστές απαντήσεις κέρδιζαν από ένα δώρο του σταθμού το οποίο λάμβαναν ταχυδρομικός.  Η ευκαιρία να κερδίσουν επιπρόσθετα δώρα  προσφερόταν στο τέλος  δια μέσου της κλήρωσης  στα ονόματα όλων των ακροατών που λάμβαναν συμμετοχή.

3. ΡΑΝΤΕΒΟΥ ΜΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΚΑΛΛΙΤΕΧΝΕΣ:

Το ΡΑΝΤΕΒΟΥ ΜΕ ΤΟΥΣ ΚΑΛΛΙΤΕΧΝΕΣ ήταν μια πρωτοποριακή εκπομπή του STUDIO 3 που ξεκίνησε το 2002 και ακουγόταν κάθε Κυριακή βράδυ.  Εμπνευστής  της εκπομπής ήταν η κ. Δέσποινα Κονιδάρη η οποία μαζί με τον Θωμά Τσαμούρα γεφύρωσαν την απόσταση μεταξύ την Αυστραλία και τον καλλιτεχνικό κόσμο της Ελλάδας, παρουσιάζοντας συνεντεύξεις με τους ακόλουθους  καλλιτέχνες και ηθοποιούς:

4. ΚΑΛΗΜΕΡΑ ΠΑΡΟΙΚΙΑ (ΣΑΒΒΑΤΟ):

Η μουσική εκπομπή Καλημέρα Παροικία κάθε Σάββατο από τις 10.00 έως τις 12.00 το πρωί ήταν για περίπου μια 10ετία παραγωγή του STUDIO 3 του Νιούκαστλ. Ξεκίνησε το 2002 με την Δέσποινα Κονιδάρη στο τιμόνι ενώ τα τελευταία 7 χρόνια επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής  ήταν ο Θωμάς Τσαμούρας.

Η εκπομπή αυτή έδινε την ευκαιρία όχι μόνο στον Ελληνισμό του Νιούκαστλ να στέλνει τις αφιερώσεις του προς φίλους και συγγενείς αλλά και της ευρύτερης ΝΝΟ.   

5. ΑΘΛΗΤΙΚΗ ΑΝΑΣΚΟΠΗΣΗ

Η Αθλητική Ανασκόπηση ήταν εκπομπή αθλητικής ενημέρωσης από την Ελλάδα, Κύπρο, Ευρώπη και Αυστραλία . Επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής  στα 10 χρόνια που ακουγόταν ήταν ο Θωμάς Τσαμούρας.

Ο ανταποκριτής από Ελλάδα ήταν ο Μπάμπης Πλάγος από την ΕΡΑ Πύργου  ενώ από το Σίδνευ υπήρξαν οι  Βασίλης Ρουμελιώτης και Πόλ Μίκος, από το Γούλογκογκ ο  Χρήστος Ματσιούκκος   και από το Νιούκαστλ  ο  Λάκης  Καϊμακάμης.

Ανάμεσα στις προσωπικότητες  που ακούστηκαν από την εκπομπή αυτή ήταν οι ποδοσφαιριστές  Λάκης Αποστολάκης, Κυριάκος Τοχούρογλου, Τζο Παλατσίδης, Πήτερ Καθόλος, Τζόν Κοσμίνα, αμέτρητοι προπονητές καθώς και δύο Ελληνόπουλα της πόλης του Νιούκαστλ που βγήκαν ζωντανά στον αέρα  από το γήπεδο της Λισαβώνας πριν την έναρξη του τελικού του 2004 όπου η Ελλάδα έγινε πρωταθλήτρια Ευρώπης!

Η εκπομπή ήταν μιας ώρας διάρκειας και ακουγόταν κάθε Κυριακή βράδυ.

6. ΡΑΔΙΟΖΕΥΞΗ  ΜΕ  ΤΗΝ ΚΑΛΥΜΝΟ

Η Ραδιοζεύξη με την Κάλυμνο ήταν μια εκπομπή ενημέρωσης  διάρκειας δύο ωρών κάθε Σάββατο βράδυ μεταξύ τις 6.00 και 8.00.

Επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής ήταν ο Θωμάς Τσαμούρας και ο Νίκος Mαμάκας από το Ράδιο Αλήθεια Καλύμνου. Η εκπομπή έδινε την ευκαιρία στον Ελληνισμό της Αυστραλίας να γνωρίζει περισσότερα για τα προβλήματα των νησιών του Αιγαίου καθώς και της Ελλάδας γενικά αλλά και για τους πατριώτες στην Ελλάδα να μαθαίνουν περισσότερα για την ομογένεια της Αυστραλίας. Σε κάθε εκπομπή υπήρχαν συνεντεύξεις  με  προσκεκλημένους πολιτικούς,  επιστήμονες και πνευματικούς ηγέτες .

Για την καλλίτερη ενημέρωση των πραγμάτων από Αυστραλία  μιλήσαμε με εκπροσώπους των Ελληνικών Κοινοτήτων του Σίδνευ, Μελβούρνης και Αντελαϊδος ενώ καλύφτηκε και το περιβόητο “Εκκλησιαστικό” που ταλανίζει την ομογένεια  τόσες δεκαετίες.

Ακόμη έκανε μια συνέντευξη- αφιέρωση στον Βαγγέλη Μποροδήμο, τον μηχανικό του ΠΑΤΡΙΣ, ΕΛΛΗΝΙΣ  και  ΑΥΣΤΡΑΛΙΣ , που έφεραν εκατοντάδες χιλιάδες Έλληνες στην Αυστραλία κατά την δεκαετία του 1960 και 1970.

7. ΡΑΔΙΟΣΥΝΕΝΤΕΥΞΕΙΣ

Οι Ραδιοσυνεντεύξεις ήταν μια ενημερωτική εκπομπή που γεννήθηκε από την Ραδιοζεύξη με την Κάλυμνο, και η οποία ακουγόταν κάθε Κυριακή μεταξύ 12.00 έως 02.00 και σε επανάληψη, κάθε Τρίτη μεταξύ 6.00 έως 8.00. Επιμελητής και παρουσιαστής της εκπομπής ήταν ο θωμάς Τσαμούρας ενώ  μόνιμος ανταποκριτής της εκπομπής από την Θεσσαλονίκη ήταν ο δημοσιογράφος και καθηγητής ιστορίας και θεολογίας κ. Μιχάλης Χρυσανθόπουλος.

Η εκπομπή ασχολήθηκε με θέματα της Ελλάδας όπως η οικονομική κρίση και ακούσαμε απόψεις από προσωπικότητες όπως την Ντόρα Μπακογιάννη, Λιάνα Κανέλη, Χάρη Κλυνν, Μάκη Τριανταφυλλόπουλο, ‘Ολγα Σαραντοπούλου, τον  Άγγλο Ευρωβουλευτή Nigel Ferage, την Αυστραλιανή πρέσβειρα στην Αθήνα  Jenny Bloomfield και καθηγητές όπως τον Ορέστη Σεϊμένη, Νίκο Βαρσακέλη και Ιάκωβο Μιχαηλίδη.

Η εκπομπή ασχολήθηκε και με καυτά θέματα της Αυστραλίας και ακούσαμε από πολιτικούς όπως  τον Αθανάσιο Συνοδινό, Νίκο Ξενοφών, Νίκο Κότσιρα, Μαρία Βαμβακινού, Στηβ Γεωργανά, Ιωάννη Πανταζόπουλο, ακαδημαϊκούς όπως τον Αντώνη Δρακόπουλο, Μιχάλη Τσιανίκα, Γιώργο Καναράκη, Παναγιώτη Διαμάντη, Αναστάσιο Τάμη, και Μαρία Ηροδότου.

Ασχοληθήκαμε με τον καλλιτεχνικό κόσμο της Ελλάδας και φέραμε κοντά στους ακροατές μας ονόματα όπως την Καίτη Γαρμπή, Ζαφείρη Μελλά, Γιώργο Μαργαρίτη, Πέτρο ‘Ημβριο, Μαριάντα Πιερίδη, Χρύσπα, Στάθη Αγγελόπουλο, ‘Ηβη  Αδάμου, Μπλέ, καθώς και ταλέντα της Αυστραλίας όπως  τον Στέλιο Αντωνίου, Γιάννα Σταύρου, Out of the Blue, Anthea Trio, και τον κωμικό Γιώργο Καπηνιάρη.

Ακούσαμε από την Κέλλη Σχοινά του περιοδικού Πίστα από την Ελλάδα καθώς και από τον Steve Agi, εκδότη του περιοδικού ΟPA της Μελβούρνης. ‘Αρθρα από τις συνεντεύξεις της εκπομπής φιλοξενήθηκαν σε εφημερίδες όπως τον Ελληνικό Κύρηκα Σύδνευ, Νέο Κόσμο Μελβούρνης, περιοδικά  Alpha Magazine, OPA Magazine, Πίστα, καθώς και ιστοσελίδες όπως την Μynima Hellas News από Ελλάδα και Aναγνώστης  e – Magazine από Μελβούνρη.

H εκπομπή φιλοξένησε τον καθηγητή Λάμπη Εγγλέζο ο οποίος ανακάλυψε πάνω από 250 αγνοούμενους Αυστραλούς στρατιώτες στο Fromelles της Γαλλίας και ο οποίος εμπιστεύτηκε στον παρουσιαστή της εκπομπής Θωμά Τσαμούρα να κάνει μια έρευνα για 25 αγνοούμενους Αυστραλούς στρατιώτες στην Βεύβη Φλωρίνης. Μετά από έρευνα στην οποία συνέβαλαν και τα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης της Ελλάδας εντοπίστηκε η τοποθεσία που πιστεύεται ότι βρίσκονται οι αγνοούμενοι Αυστραλοί στρατιώτες, φωτογραφήθηκε και ενημερώθηκε η πρεσβεία στην Αθήνα καθώς και οι αρχές των Αυστραλιανών ενόπλων δυνάμεων στην Καμπέρα!

‘Ισως η μεγαλύτερη είδηση της εκπομπής ήταν αυτή του ανθυποπλοιάρχου του Ελληνικού εμπορικού ναυτικού, Απόστολου Καρδάρα ο οποίος μας ενημέρωσε για την απόφαση να ταξιδέψει από την Πάτρα έως το Σίδνευ με σκάφος 6 μέτρων για να αποσπάσει το ενδιαφέρον της  παγκόσμιας γνώμης για την Ελληνικότητα της Μακεδονίας. Η είδηση αυτή τράβηξε το ενδιαφέρων όχι μόνο όλων των μέσων μαζικής ενημέρωσης της Αυστραλίας αλλά και της Ελλάδας, αναγκάζοντας τόσο τον Απόστολο Καρδάρα οσο και τον Θωμά Τσαμούρα, να φιλοξενούνται σε συνεντεύξεις σε Ελληνικές  τηλεοπτικές εκπομπές όπως αυτή του Γιώργου Αυτιά στο κανάλι ‘Αλφα και σε ραδιορωνικές  εκπομπές  όπως αυτή  του Γιώργου Ροδάκογλου από το δημοτικό ραδιόφωνο FM 100 Θεσσαλονίκης και του Μάκη Τριανταφυλλόπουλου του Ράδιο Ζούγκλα στην Αθήνα.

Για τα άτομα του εξωτερικού ή για όσους  δεν είχαν την ευκαιρία να ακούσουν την εκπομπή, όλες οι συνεντεύξεις ήταν ηχογραφημένες και  στην διάθεση του κοινού δια μέσου διαδικτύου ενώ οι πιο σημαντικές , επίσης δια μέσου YOU TUBE.

Adelaide United have copped a 5-1 hiding from fired-up La Liga outfit Malaga in an Adelaide Oval thumping on Friday night.

The Reds were on the backfoot from the word go even before Osama Malik suffered a brain fade and nodded into his own net in the 18th minute.

The Spaniards stepped up the pace after the break, though as Pablo Perez and Luis Alberto scored in the 49th and 53rd minutes respectively.

Bruce Djite did pull one back for the Reds just before the hour but any hope of a comeback was dashed as Juanmi finished the game on a high for Malaga with a late brace to secure the five-goal scoreline.

It may have been the world game’s debut at Adelaide Oval but it was enough for 23,254 to arrive at the venue on Friday night in the City of Churches.

However, despite the local support, the Reds were nervy from the outset as Malaga crafted three good chances before Malik opened the scoring for them.

In a bizarre brain fade from the defender, Samu Castillejo’s volley bounced in his direction and he directed the header into his own goal.

Malik was left to hit his own head in dismay but at least Adelaide didn’t drop their bundle as they held onto the 1-0 scoreline until the break, the Reds even having the temerity to almost equalise as Isaias Sanchez found the back of the net, only for his effort to be ruled offside as it deflected in off Nigel Boogaard.

However when Malaga coach Javi Garcia, in his first match in charge of the team, changed all but one member of his side at the break, the Spaniards were set to lift a gear.

And lift they did as Perez latched onto Boogaard’s clearing header four minutes after the break and smashed in a classy finish from 20 metres out.

Four minutes later, on-load Liverpool midfielder Alberto curled in a beautiful free kick before the Reds finally earned some reprieve as Djite pulled one back in the 59th minute.

But normal service soon resumed for Malaga as Juanmi poked home Perez’s pass in the 64th minute before completing his brace with another tap-in four minutes from time.
