Western Sydney Wanderers have beaten Central Coast Mariners 2-0 at Parramatta Stadium to make the A-League grand final for the second time in the club’s two-year existence.
The win brought some revenge for last year’s grand final when the Wanderers went down 2-0 to the Mariners at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Youssouf Hersi opened the scoring for the home side in the 31st minute.
The Mariners tried to get back in the match but could not find a way through.
Ante Covic made a save from Mitchell Duke in the 67th minute and Kim Seung-Yong blazed over the bar from outside the box in the 76th minute, but most of the Mariners attacks were blunted by the Wanderers defence.
Finally in the 81st minute Hersi turned provider to set up Iacopo La Rocca, who doubled the lead to send the home crowd into delirium.
The Wanderers’ grand final opponents will be the winners of Sunday’s semi-final between the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne Victory.
