Police have reportedly arrested six teenagers over anti-Semitic threats made on a private school bus in Sydney yesterday afternoon.
The teens who boarded the bus in Bondi allegedly threatened to cut the throats of the Jewish children on board.
About 3.50pm, a group of children aged five to 12 were travelling on a bus along Darley Road, Randwick.
A group of teens boarded at a bus stop and allegedly taunted and threatened the children as the bus continued.
The teens left the bus at Bronte Road in Bondi Junction and the parents of the victims were notified.
The children were reportedly students from a number of Jewish schools in Bondi travelling on a private school bus.
Jacqui Blackburn, whose three daughters were among the victims, told the Daily Telegraph the teens were screaming anti-Semitic abuse at the children, telling them to “stop taking over Palestine” and threatening to cut their throats.
The attackers also allegedly screamed “Heil Hitler” as they left the bus.
Ms Blackburn said her children and their friends were traumatised and terrified.
She said the bus driver, who has not been identified, refused to give her his name and did not explain why he had let strangers onto a school bus.
The Australian Jewish News reported that the schools involved, Mount Sinai College, Moriah College and Emanuel School, will from today increase supervision on buses.
Police do not believe the incident was targeted, but said any type of racial abuse, especially directed towards children, would not be tolerated.
