The Rolling Stones have cancelled their upcoming show in Australia.

The band announced they would not be performing in Perth on Wednesday night following the death of Mick Jagger’s fashion designer girlfriend L’Wren Scott. They are expected to cancel the rest of the tour but have not made an official statement.

Their promoter’s Frontier Touring posted a Facebook message on Tuesday afternoon which read: ‘We regret to announce that The Rolling Stones concert in Perth will not be going ahead as scheduled for Wednesday 19 March 2014.’

The Rolling Stones jet is currently still in Perth but it is unknown whether Jagger and the band have flown out of Australia.

L’Wren, 49, was found dead after hanging herself in her Manhattan apartment on Monday morning.

A spokesman for Jagger, 70, said the singer was ‘completely shocked and devastated’ following the news of her death.

When asked if there were still in a relationship at the time of her death, he replied ‘of course’.

Mick and the Mormon-raised designer have been dating since 2001.

She first broke into the fashion industry as a stylist before launching an eponymous line in 2006 that was a major hit with celebrities.

Fans including Oprah Winfrey, Nicole Kidman and Michelle Obama. She had even been tipped to design Angelina Jolie’s wedding dress.

The news of her death came just hours after the English rocker tweeted a picture of himself enjoying a west coast beach.

He and fellow band members Ronnie Wood, Keith Richards and Charlie Watts looked thrilled to be back in Australia when they touched down in Perth yesterday – tweeting a picture and video of themselves in front of their private jet, which is emblazoned with the band’s trademark tongue logo.

The Stones were in the country for their 14 On Fire six-show stadium tour of Australia, which they announced on December 4 last year.

Their first concert was scheduled to be at Perth Arena on Wednesday night, with following shows in Adelaide, Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane.

Frontier Touring’s Facebook message continued: ‘Ticket holders are asked to hold on to their tickets until a further update is available.  Ticket holders can check frontiertouring.com, twitter.com/frontiertouring or this Facebook page for updates. Please note no further comment is available at this time.’
