Motorists travelling in the Hunter and Newcastle region are advised to exercise extreme caution as flooding continues to affect various roads in the region.
Wallsend Road has reopened between the Newcastle Inner City Bypass and Maitland Road at Sandgate, and Industrial Drive has also reopened between George Street and Elizabeth Street in Tighes Hill with diversions now lifted.
However the following roads remain closed:
•William Bailey Street between Port Stephens Street and Fitzgerald Bridge in Raymond Terrace.
•Cessnock Road between Gillieston Heights and Cliftleigh.
Additionally, numerous local roads remain closed in the Cessnock, Wyong, Dungog, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens, Maitland, Singleton and Gloucester council areas.
The Hunter train line remains closed with buses replacing trains between Hamilton and Scone and Hamilton and Telarah.
No replacement buses are running between Telarah and Dungog due to flooded roads. Passenger should delay their journey or allow plenty of extra travel time.
Some buses in the region are also affected by road closures and may divert from normal routes and experience delays.
