Anderlecht will be Olympiakos’s opponent in the round of 32 of the Europa League in February, as the draw that took place on Monday in Nyon was kind enough to the Greek champion to spare it any of the European powerhouses.
The first leg is scheduled for February 18 in Brussels, with the return to take place in Piraeus a week later.
“Anderlecht deserves our respect, and has emerged from a tough group in the Europa League that also included Tottenham and Monaco,” quipped Olympiakos coach Marco Silva upon hearing the outcome of the draw.
The Belgian team brings fond memories to the Reds, as two seasons ago Olympiakos beat it in Brussels 3-0 and in Piraeus 3-1 for the group stage of the Champions League.
