Αντί να στείλει στους οικογενειακούς γιατρούς των ασθενών που νοσηλεύτηκαν εκεί τα εξιτήρι, έστειλε πιστοποιητικά θανάτου.

Πριν την ώρα τους «πέθανε», κατά λάθος, 200 ασθενείς το νοσοκομείο της Μελβούρνης.

Οι υπηρεσίες του νοσοκομείου ήθελαν να στείλουν στους οικογενειακούς γιατρούς των ασθενών τα εξιτήρια, αλλά λόγω λάθους στη σύνταξη των τυποποιημένων μηνυμάτων, η ειδοποίηση πληροφορούσε για το μοιραίο.

Τουλάχιστον μερικοί συγγενείς μάλιστα, όπως μεταδίδει το Reuters, είχαν ήδη ειδοποιηθεί για το θάνατο των ασθενών πριν γίνει αντιληπτό το λάθος.

Το νοσοκομείο ζήτησε συγγνώμη και σημείωσε ότι «στη μεγάλη τους πλειονότητα» οι εμπλεκόμενοι έδειξαν κατανόηση. Το ζήτημα έφτασε μέχρι και στο Σίδνεϊ, όπου βουλευτής της αντιπολίτευσης διέγνωσε στο πρόβλημα άλλη μία συνέπεια των υποστελεχωμένων υπηρεσιών υγείας.

Μελβουρνιώτες επιστήμονες κατόρθωσαν να κρατήσουν ζωντανή την ανθρώπινη καρδιά, εκτός σώματος, μέχρι και 12 ώρες.

Επιστημονικό θαύμα θεωρείται το γεγονός ότι Μελβουρνιώτες επιστήμονες κατόρθωσαν να κρατήσουν ζωντανή την ανθρώπινη καρδιά, εκτός σώματος, μέχρι και 12 ώρες.

Συνέβη στο Alfred Hospital της Μελβούρνης και υπολογίζεται ότι θα σώζει ζωές, δεδομένου ότι θα μπορεί το μόσχευμα να διανύσει μεγάλες αποστάσεις. Η διαδικασία ξεκινά με το να διατηρηθεί το μόσχευμα δροσερό στην αρχή και στη συνέχεια αίμα στη θερμοκρασία του ανθρωπίνου σώματος θα διοχετεύεται στην καρδιά ώστε να είναι σε θέση οι επιστήμονες να την εξετάσουν πριν την μεταμοσχεύσουν. Η πρώτη δοκιμή έγινε μετά το θάνατο ενός 42χρονου, όταν ο Professor Frank Rosenfeldt, και οι συνεργάτες του, κατόρθωσαν επί 12 ώρες να διατηρήσουν την καρδιά ζωντανή.

«Η καρδιά αυτή είναι κατάλληλη για μεταμόσχευση και αυτό είναι πάρα πολύ ενθαρρυντικό» θα πει ο καθηγητής.
Η μεταμόσχευση θα γίνει τον ερχόμενο χρόνο, να σημειωθεί δε ότι η κυβέρνηση Βικτωρίας χρηματοδοτεί την νέα ανακάλυψη με $1.5 εκ.

ΤΑ ΠΕΝΤΕ ΒΗΜΑΤΑ

1. Γίνεται μετάγγιση στην καρδιά μιας ειδικής ουσίας και μετά τοποθετείται σε πλαστική θήκη.
2. Στη συνέχεια, γίνεται μετάγγιση μιας άλλης διάλυσης, η οποία περιέχει θρεπτικές ουσίες και αντιοξειδωτικά, ενώ τροφοδοτείται με οξυγόνο από ειδικό ορό. Τώρα είναι έτοιμη η καρδιά να ταξιδέψει.
3. Όταν φτάσει στον προορισμό της, στο νοσοκομείο όπου πρόκειται να λάβει χώρα η μεταμόσχευση, τοποθετείται σ’ ένα άλλο σύστημα όπου τροφοδοτείται από ζεστό αίμα του δότη μέσω της αορτής.
4. Στη συνέχεια μέσω ειδικού μηχανήματος αρχίζει να χτυπά.
5. Μετράται η δύναμη των χτύπων ώστε να εξακριβωθεί αν το μόσχευμα, σ’ αυτό το σημείο, είναι έτοιμο για την μεταμόσχευση.

Ο Professor Rosenfeldt δήλωσε ότι η νέα ανακάλυψη θα συντελέσει στο να αυξηθούν οι μεταμοσχεύσεις καρδιάς κατά 25%, δεδομένου ότι τα μοσχεύματα θα μπορούν, μ’ αυτόν τον τρόπο, να μεταφερθούν ακόμη και από το Darwin και Ν. Ζηλανδία.

Επί του παρόντος, η καρδιά μπορεί να μεταμοσχευθεί μόνο από δωρητές οι οποίοι έχουν πεθάνει κλινικά αλλά η καρδιά τους εξακολουθεί να χτυπά, θα πρέπει δε να χρησιμοποιηθεί εντός τεσσάρων ωρών.

Αυτή τη στιγμή υπάρχει μεγάλη έλλειψη μοσχευμάτων και υπολογίζεται ότι μόνο στο Alfred Hospital 25 ασθενείς περιμένουν να λάβουν μια νέα καρδιά.
Μόλις δε φύγει ένας, αντικαθίσταται από άλλον, αφού υπάρχει ένας μακροσκελής κατάλογος αναμονής.

Μερικοί κρατιούνται στη ζωή με τεχνητή καρδιά μέχρι να βρεθεί το κατάλληλο μόσχευμα.

Deputy Liberal leader Julie Bishop has urged compromise with the Senate crossbench to repeal the mining tax and pass contentious budget measures, citing John Howard’s GST compromise.

In a clear sign the federal government is adjusting its overarching budget strategy, Prime Minister Tony Abbott and Finance Minister Mathias Cormann both held out the prospect of policy ‘‘adjustments’’ over the weekend to smooth the passage of key budget measures.

Key crossbench senators said they could work with the government on a revised Schoolkids Bonus and unanimously called for the mining tax repeal bills to be split, allowing the tax to be axed but some spending measures to be kept.

Ms Bishop, who will on Monday launch Australia’s economic diplomacy agenda, said the government had already compromised to repeal the carbon tax and pass changes to financial advice laws, and further compromise was needed.

‘‘I look back at the GST that John Howard took to the 1998 election. We won that election with a very detailed plan to introduce a GST. Yet we still had to compromise to get it through the Senate,’’ she said.

‘‘I see that as an indication of the need to compromise to achieve your aims, even after an election.

‘‘In the case of the mining tax, it’s clear that it’s a useless tax … the mining tax must go. The question, is how do you pay for the benefits that Labor promised would come from the mining tax?’’

Liberal backbenchers said it was ‘‘stating the bleeding obvious’’ to say the budget would have to be changed to pass through the Senate.

The government failed to repeal the mining tax in the last parliamentary sitting because the Palmer United Party insisted, along with Labor and the Greens, on keeping the Schoolkids Bonus, income support bonus and low income superannuation contribution.

Those three measures will cost the budget about $1.7 billion in 2014-15 and nearly $10 billion by 2017-18 if retained. The total cost of the mining tax-linked spending measures is just over $17 billion over four years.

Cabinet will meet on Tuesday in Melbourne. Budget strategy is expected to feature prominently after a horror week for Treasurer Joe Hockey, who issued a grovelling apology after declaring the ‘‘poorest people don’t drive cars’’ while arguing the case for a rise in petrol excise.

Senior government sources played down suggestions of a full-blown budget ‘‘reboot’’ but confirmed a pragmatic shift was under way before Parliament resumes next week.

The shift could see ‘‘adjustments’’ made to about $40 billion in proposed savings and revenue measures blocked by the Senate, including the fuel excise, the $7 GP co-payment and changes to tertiary fees.

Independent South Australian senator Nick Xenophon said he was open to making the Schoolkids Bonus more tightly focused on education spending.

Amending the scheme, rather than ditching it all together, would be a welcome ‘‘pragmatic’’ move but Senator Xenophon said the government’s budget problems were ‘‘more deep-seated than that”.

”Talk of a reboot shows what a mess the budget is – there needs to be a mini budget,” he said.

Opposition Leader Bill Shorten said the budget needed more than a ‘‘new coat of paint’’. ‘‘Tony Abbott needs to tear it down and start again … he needs to back down on the unfair measures in his budget.’’

Στο βιβλίο με τίτλο «Σκυλάνθρωποι» καταγράφεται η αφήγηση μιας Ελβετίδας που επιχειρεί να ερμηνεύσει με ενδιαφέροντα τρόπο την άσχημη συμπεριφορά των Ευρωπαίων απέναντι στους Έλληνες.

Συγκεκριμένα σύμφωνα με το freepen.gr η Ελβετίδα αφηγείται: «Τα ζώα δεν συγχωρούν ποτέ στον άνθρωπο τη βελτίωση της συμπεριφοράς τους, γιατί νιώθουν ότι αυτή η βελτίωση τ’ απομακρύνει από τη φύση τους. και όποτε δίνεται η ευκαιρία το μίσος εκρήγνυται».

«Είναι ακριβώς αυτό που συμβαίνει μ’ εμάς τους Ευρωπαίους και τους Έλληνες!

Αν υπάρχει μια φυλή στον κόσμο που κυριολεκτικά τη μισώ αφόρητα, αυτή η φυλή είναι οι Έλληνες»!

Σιγά σιγά ένιωθα πως οι Γνώσεις μου, οι Σκέψεις μου, τα Αισθήματά μου, η Προσωπικότητά μου, ο Κόσμος μου, η Ύπαρξή μου ως το πιο έσχατο κύτταρο μου ήταν όλα επηρεασμένα, ήταν ταγμένα σε αυτό που σήμερα ονομάζουμε «Η Φιλοσοφία των Αρχαίων Ελλήνων»!

Δεν τολμούσα να πιάσω στα χέρια μου λεξικό για να βρω μια δύσκολη, σπάνια, μια χρήσιμη, μια έξυπνη, μια όμορφη, μια μεστωμένη λέξη. Όλες ελληνικές! Και άλλες αμέτρητες σαν την άμμο τω ν θαλασσών και των ποταμών, ελληνικής κι αυτές προέλευσης! Πρόκειται για φαινόμενο ομαδικό! Έτσι αισθανόμαστε λίγο πολύ όλοι μας απέναντι στους Έλληνες.

Τους μισούμε όπως τα ζώα τους θηριοδαμαστές. Και μόλις μας δίνεται η ευκαιρία χυμάμε, τους δαγκώνουμε και τους κατασπαράζουμε.

Γιατί στο βάθος ξέρουμε ότι κάποτε είμαστε ζώα μ’ όλη τη σημασία της λέξης κι είναι αυτοί, οι Έλληνες, πάλι οι Έλληνες, πάντα οι Έλληνες, που μας εξώσανε από τη ζωώδικη υπόσταση και μας ανεβάσανε στην ίδια με τους εαυτούς τους ανθρώπινη βαθμίδα! Δεν αγαπάμε κάτι που θαυμάζουμε.

Ρίξε μια ματιά στην ιστορία και θα διαπιστώσεις ότι όλοι οι Ευρωπαίοι, με αρχηγούς τους Λατίνους και το Βατικανό, λυσσάξαμε να τους εξαφανίσουμε τους Έλληνες από το πρόσωπο της γης!

Δεν θα βρεις και δεν θα φανταστείς συνδυασμό και εγκλήματος, πλεκτάνης και παγίδας που δεν το σκαρφιστήκαμε και δεν το πραγματώσαμε για να τους εξολοθρεύσουμε! . η ιστορία με το μίσος κατά των Ελλήνων δεν ξέφτισε.

Ο σύγχρονος πολιτισμένος  άνθρωπος είναι ο ίδιος και χειρότερος. Δεν θα επιτρέψει ποτέ το Βατικανό, να επιβιώσει στην αυλόπορτα της Ευρώπης, στα πλευρά της Ασίας και στο κατώφλι της Αφρικής ο Ελληνισμός γιατί θεωρούν ότι τους αφαιρούμε Σεβασμό και Κύρος!

Για αυτό παρόλο που τους μισώ, γιατί δεν προέρχομαι από τη φυλή τους, δεν μπορώ να μη τους θαυμάζω και να μη τους σέβομαι και θα συνεχίσω να Μελετάω τον Πλάτωνα, τον Σωκράτη και τον Περικλή όσο θα ζω, διδάσκοντας στα παιδιά μου τη Δύναμη της Σοφίας τους και την επιρροή της στη Ζωή μας και στην Ευτυχία μας!»

One southern right whale is dead, another has horrific propeller injuries and a calf is missing after a family pod was struck by a boat in Moreton Bay.

The endangered whales, which are rare in the bay, were reportedly hit in the early hours of Friday morning. The dead whale – a seven-metre long sub-adult – was discovered by rangers near Peel Island Saturday morning.

There have been several sightings of the injured adult whale, which is about 12 metres long. However, a calf previously seen with the pair has not been located.

Darren Burns, land and sea coordinator for the Quandamooka Aboriginal community, who are traditional owners of North Stradbroke Island and Moreton Bay, said the whale’s death had left members of the community distraught.

“The whale would have died almost straight away. Its injuries are just horrible,” Mr Burns said.

“We’re trying to locate the adult whale, which has been seen with propeller chops the whole way down the right side of its body, to make sure it’s in reasonable health.”

Mr Burns, who has lived on the island for 48 years, said he first saw southern right whales in the bay in 2002. Since them small family groups have returned each year.

He said dugongs and turtles were regular victims of boat strike in the bay, recalling a recent incident in which a mother dugong and her calf were killed by the same boat within an hour of each other.

But he said the whale’s death “has taken this to a whole new level”.

“Measures and protocols need to be put in place to prevent this happening again,” he said.

“Boaties need to be more aware of their surroundings and respect the marine life.

“What’s really saddening for our community is that the whales were obviously starting to re-establish a route to Moreton Bay and that behaviour could be set back because of this.”

Dr Jan Aldenhoven – a marine biologist and film maker who lives on Stradbroke Island – said southern right whales were more commonly associated with cool water environments but had been recorded as visiting Moreton Bay for more than a decade.

“The thing that’s so sad about the death of these whales is that they are a species that seeks out shelter in bays,” she said.

“They spend a lot of time resting so they were most likely resting on the surface when they were hit.

“Unlike humpback whales, which have seen a population resurgence in recent years, southern rights are really struggling, which makes this all the more sad.

“The fact they are coming to the bay means there needs to be awareness that they’re here and measures need to be put in place to prevent future risk.”

SCOTLAND’S foremost independence supporter, Alex Salmond, has rounded on Tony Abbott for opposing withdrawal by the oil-rich country from the United Kingdom, describing the Australian Prime Minister’s comments as “foolish, hypocritical and offensive”.

Mr Abbott had said Scottish independence was favoured by those who were “not the friends of justice, not the friends of freedom”.

Mr Salmond, Scotland’s first minister and leader of the Scottish National Party in the regional parliament formed after devolution, was speaking to the BBC yesterday.

Mr Salmond said Mr Abbott was “notoriously gaffe-prone” and he had “put his foot right in it” with his comments, the BBC reported.

Mr Salmond added, according to the BBC: “If it does anything, it will persuade people to vote Yes because the natural reaction to this sort of nonsense is ‘who is Mr Abbott to lecture Scots on freedom and justice?’”

Scotland goes to the polls on September 18 to decide whether to break away from the 307-year-old, London-led union. YouGov’s latest poll last week shows Yes at 35 per cent and No at 55 per cent, although some polls have shown just a small No majority.

Mr Abbott’s comments to The Times of London, published yesterday, are said to be the strongest yet by a major foreign leader on the Scottish independence debate, but follow calls from US President Barack Obama to keep the union intact.

“What the Scots do is a matter for the Scots and not for a moment do I presume to tell Scottish voters which way they should vote,” Australia’s Prime Minister told the newspaper.

“But as a friend of Britain, as an observer from afar, it’s hard to see how the world would be helped by an independent Scotland,” Mr Abbott said.

“I think that the people who would like to see the breakup of the United Kingdom are not the friends of justice, not the friends of freedom, and that the countries that would cheer at the prospect of the breakup with the United Kingdom are not the countries whose company one would like to keep,” Mr Abbott said.

Mr Obama last month backed the union, saying: “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” He said the US had a “deep interest in making sure that one of the closest allies we will ever have remains a strong, robust, united and effective partner”.

China’s Premier Li Keqiang has said during a visit to Britain he wanted to see a “united United Kingdom”.

Mr Abbott, interviewed by The Times last week, also said he was “an incorrigible Anglophile”.

“I do love England,” he said, and described his two years at the University of Oxford as “in some ways the most magical two years of my life”.

He showered praise on Scotland too, describing the Scottish enlightenment as the “intellectual foundation for so much of what’s best in the modern world”.

Later Mr Salmond told BBC Scotland: “Mr Abbott’s comments are hypocritical because independence does not seem to have done Australia any harm.

“They are foolish, actually, because of the way he said it. To say the people of Scotland who supported independence weren’t friends of freedom or justice, I mean, the independence process is about freedom and justice,” the first minister told the BBC.

The first minister said Scotland’s referendum on independence was a “model of democratic conduct” and Mr Abbott’s comments were “offensive to the Scottish people”, the BBC reported.

Mr Abbott was in Britain last week after visiting The Netherlands to discuss the downing of MH17 in Ukraine.

He held talks with British Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond.
