Ο Ολυμπιακός ολοκλήρωσε την προετοιμασία του για την εκτός έδρας αναμέτρηση με την Ατλέτικο και αναχωρεί αύριο με 21 παίκτες για τη Μαδρίτη, με τους Ντουρμάζ, Γιαννούλη να μένουν εκτός αποστολής.

Με προπόνηση στις εγκαταστάσεις του Ρέντη το πρωί της Δευτέρας (24/11), ολοκληρώθηκε η εν Ελλάδι προετοιμασία της ομάδας του Πειραιά για την αναμέτρηση με την Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης στο “Βιθέντε Καλντερόν”, το βράδυ της Τετάρτης (26/11, 21:45).

Το πρόγραμμα για τους παίκτες του Ολυμπιακού περιελάμβανε ασκήσεις τακτικής και δουλειά πάνω στις στημένες φάσεις.

Μετά το τέλος της προπόνησης, ο Μίτσελ ανακοίνωσε την αποστολή, η οποία θα ταξιδέψει στην Μαδρίτη για τον σπουδαίο αυτόν αγώνα, το πρωί της Τρίτης (25/11).

Ο Σταρκ στο “Βιθέντε Καλδερόν”

Τον Γερμανό Βόλφγκανγκ Σταρκ όρισε η UEFA για την αναμέτρηση της Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης με τον Ολυμπιακό (26/11, 21:45) στο “Βιθέντε Καλδερόν”. Βοηθοί του οι Μίκε Πίκελ και Τόρστεν Σίφνερ, ενώ τις δύο περιοχές θα εποπτεύουν οι Κρίστιαν Ντίνγκερτ και Ντάνιελ Σίμπερτ.

Ο Σταρκ είχε διευθύνει στις 10 Δεκεμβρίου 2013 την εντός έδρας νίκη των “ερυθρολεύκων” με 3-1 επί της Άντερλεχτ (3 πέναλτι και 3 αποβολές υπέρ του Ολυμπιακού).

Είχε επίσης οριστεί σε ματς του Παναθηναϊκού (2-0 την Γκόριτσα την σεζόν 1999 – 2000 στον 1ο γύρο του Κυπέλλου UEFA) και σε άλλα δύο της ΑΕΚ (3-2 την Λίτεξ Λόβετς την σεζόν 2001-02 για τους “32” του Κυπέλλου UEFA και 0-0 με την Μονακό στην Λεωφόρο την περίοδο 2003 – 04 για τους ομίλους του Champions League), ενώ ήταν ο άρχοντας της αναμέτρησης μεταξύ ΠΑΟΚ και Μπενφίκα πέρσι στην Τούμπα (για τους “32” του Europa League), όπου ο “Δικέφαλος” ηττήθηκε με 1-0 από γκολ – οφσάιντ του Λίμα.

Nick Kyrgios has become the youngest recipient of the prestigious award.

Nick Kyrgios has taken out the Newcombe Medal as Australia’s most outstanding tennis player of year.

The 19-year-old excitement machine edged out veteran grand slam champions Lleyton Hewitt and Samantha Stosur and tennis super-mum Casey Dellacqua to become the youngest recipient of the prestigious award.

Kyrgios was acclaimed at a gala ceremony at Melbourne’s Crown Palladium on Monday night.

Kyrgios stunned the sporting world with his earth-moving fourth-round win over Rafael Nadal at Wimbledon, in doing so becoming the first teenager since Nadal in 2005 to topple a world number one at a grand slam.

He also nervelessly and spectacularly saved nine match points against highly-seeded Frenchman Richard Gasquet en route to the quarter-finals at the All England Club.

But proving his Wimbledon heroics no fluke, the 2013 Australian Open junior champion delivered a stylish encore in New York, blitzing two-times US Open semi-finalist Mikhail Youzhny to reach the last 32 before running out of steam against wily Spaniard Tommy Robredo.

Kyrgios called an end to his exhausting 2014 campaign shortly after helping guide Australia back into the Davis Cup World Group.

After starting the season ranked 183rd in the world, he finished at number 52 – just two spots below Hewitt, the year-end men’s Australian number one once again at almost 34.

Hewitt, like Stosur and Dellacqua, also mounted a strong case for Newcombe Medal honours.

The former world number one rolled back the years to secure two ATP titles for the first time in a decade, conquering Roger Federer in the Brisbane International final and reigning in singles and doubles on the grass courts of Newport.

Brisbane Roar head coach Mike Mulvey has parted ways with the club just six A-League matches after he led the side to a win in the 2013-14 grand final.

The club’s managing director Sean Dobson said in a statement on Sunday that Mulvey would step down.

“Head Coach Mike Mulvey met with Brisbane Roar FC management today. As a result, he will step down from the Head Coach’s position,” Dobson said.

“Brisbane Roar FC thanks Mike Mulvey for his contribution to the success of the club since his appointment as interim coach in December 2012 and as Brisbane Roar Head Coach in February 2013.

“As head coach, Mike Mulvey guided Brisbane Roar to the Hyundai A-League 2013/14 Premiers’ Plate, winning the league by 10 points, before securing an historic grand final win on May 4, 2014 against Western Sydney Wanderers.”

“The board review of all Brisbane Roar FC football operations was conducted in line with Brisbane Roar’s commitment to continual improvement.”

The champions have endured a horror start to the season, slumping to a record of five losses and just a solitary win.

Mulvey leaves just six months after guiding the Roar to the A-League title and being named coach of the year.

Rumours suggest former Dutch international Frans Thijssen is the man being lined up to replace the outgoing manager until the end of the current campaign.

Mulvey’s record with the club stands at 27 wins, eight draws and 21 losses from 56 games in all competitions.

Bayern have injuries, so do we, but big teams have big squads with big names who can play well. I don’t think that just because they have qualified they will play worse than they have so far. It will be a very tough game.

We were unlucky to lose against Bayern in the last minute from a set piece. After that we conceded a late goal against CSKA. Maybe with those points our situation would be different, but we must be conscious of where we are now – what’s happened in the past doesn’t matter.

It’s very difficult to compare one season with another. Last year they came here and played very well, winning 3-1, and after that we went to Munich and won [3-2]. The three games we have played against them have been very close, so tomorrow is another match and we will see which team plays better.

I don’t feel there is any extra pressure. It’s important for this club to do well in Europe; it’s one of our targets, to improve every year. Tomorrow we will see the team fighting to the end to try and continue in the Champions League and I hope we will do it. I’m sure the team, plus myself, have a lot of faith that we can do it. I hope we will continue to have a chance until the last game.

Tomorrow we play in a great stadium in a country where football is very important and it’s important we play our game and continue to develop and improve.

To play football we need tension, we need something to fight for. You need to be a little bit afraid to play football. From that point of view Manchester city are a little bit ahead of us. My opinion of Manchester City doesn’t matter. Their position in the Champions League stays the same. We deserved to win our home game against them but we won it in the 90th minute. If that didn’t happen my relaxed state would be different – we would be here to fight for qualification.

If they beat us and win in Rome then City will qualify. I know the coach at City and some of the players and I think they are capable of doing it, not just in the Champions League but also in the Premier League.

There will some changes for Barcelona, especially with the recent inclusion of Luis Suárez. The philosophy of Barcelona, home or away, is the same. We need to adapt our game plan accordingly and work like robots. We are at home but we need to show more composure than we have until now – especially when we have possession – so we can be more threatening going forward.

Against the top sides in our group, we have played well. Maybe we haven’t got the points we wanted but it was always going to be hard for us and Ajax. We are only thinking about tomorrow’s game. We cannot think about Ajax on matchday six because they can beat Paris, which would render our final game useless [in terms of third place]. We want to take something from Barcelona, even if it may sound overambitious.

I expect APOEL to play like they did in Barcelona – very tight at the back with players closing down all the channels. Regarding possible changes to the team, it depends on our opponents and on the adjustments that need to be made. We will see. We want to finish first. We are through already which is a positive, but now we are looking towards APOEL. Away matches are always important to win. Regardless of what happens tomorrow, we will analyse the game afterwards.

I believe the tough moments are behind us. Difficult periods come for all teams and it is our job to overcome them. They [Neymar, Messi and Suárez] are doing well. Neymar and Messi obviously know each other well because they played together last season. Suárez is the latest arrival but he is adapting well, as are some of the other players we have.

Soccer action will resume this weekend after the Super League convened on Monday, elected a new president and alternate president and sent a letter to the soccer federation that assures it that the top-flight clubs will strive to avert another violent incident such as the recent attack on referee official Christoforos Zografos.

Asteras Tripolis president Giorgos Borovilos, another former referee, has been elected as the new Super League president after the resignation of Dimitris Agrafiotis.

Panathinaikos voted against his appointment, reminding that Borovilos has been implicated in the case of the criminal organization in Greek soccer that has not yet reached the audience.

Dimitris Tzelepis, the president of Panthrakikos, has been elected alternate president of the league.

The Super League board meeting agreed then to send a letter to the Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) assuring it of its intentions and asking it to reverse its decision against having referees appointed for soccer games, that led to the postponement of the 11th round of Super League games last weekend.

It also decided that this weekend it will be the 12th round to be played, while the 11th will be rescheduled for January 10-11, 2015.

EPO issued a statement late on Monday that showed it was not excited about the letter it received, but said ”it was in the right direction” and agreed to put an end to the lockout to Greek soccer.

“Although EPO is not satisfied with the content of the letter that shows and illustrates the very large operational problems of the league, it believes that it is in the right direction; for that reason it will appoint referees so that the national competitions can continue and be completed smoothly,” read the EPO statement.

Nevertheless in the early hours of Monday the family enterprise of referee Ilias Spathas in Piraeus was broken into, with burglars causing damage and stealing 2,500 euros, albeit without robbing any valuable items such as computers that were on site.

Spathas had recently refereed the game between Asteras Tripolis and Olympiakos in which Asteras protested of referee bias in favor of Olympiakos.

Συγκεκριμένα οι «εκλεκτοί» του Ισπανού τεχνικού είναι οι Μέγιερι, Ρομπέρτο, Χουτεσιώτης, Αμπιντάλ, Αφελάι, Αυλωνίτης, Μπενίτες, Μποτία, Μπουχαλάκης, Διαμαντάκος, Ντομίνγκες, Ελαμπντελαουί, Φουστέρ, Κασάμι, Μανιάτης, Μαζουακού, Μιλιβόγεβιτς, Μήτρογλου, Εντινγκά, Σαλίνο και Σιόβας.

Επιπλέον η ΠΑΕ Ολυμπιακός ανακοίνωσε και το πρόγραμμα της ομάδας στην ισπανική πρωτεύουσα που είναι το εξής:

20:00 Προπόνηση Ολυμπιακού στο «Βιθέντε Καλντερόν», η οποία θα είναι ανοιχτή για τα ΜΜΕ για τα πρώτα 15 λεπτά.

Μίτσελ: «Ομάδα που σε κάνει να υποφέρεις»

Ο τεχνικός του Ολυμπιακού, μίλησε στο ισπανικό ραδιόφωνο Radio Marca, το οποίο βρέθηκε στην Αθήνα και… ανέκρινε όλους τους Ισπανόφωνους παίκτες των ερυθρολεύκων.

Ανάμεσα στα άλλα ο Μίτσελ σχολίασε το πώς η Ατλέτικο μπορεί να βάλει δυσκολίες σε έναν αντίπαλο:

«Η Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης δεν είναι για να υποφέρει στο γήπεδο. Είναι μία ομάδα που σε κάνει να υποφέρεις. Όταν έχεις τον Κόκε σημαίνει το 70% των γκολ μίας ομάδας. Πως να τον σταματήσεις; Είναι κάτι πολύ δύσκολο». Επίσης για τον Ράμος Ρεάλ τόνισε: «Είναι ένας ηγέτης εντός και εκτός γηπέδου. Συμφωνώ με τα περισσότερα από αυτά που έχει πει».

Ο Τσόρι Ντομίνγκες που επίσης μίλησε στο εν λόγω ισπανικό ραδιόφωνο σε νέες δηλώσεις του στην Αργεντινή διευκρίνισε για το μέλλον του: «Πάντα το ήθελα αυτό. Το να γυρίσω δηλαδή στην Ρίβερ Πλέιτ για να αποσυρθώ εκεί από την ενεργό δράση. Όμως όπως έχω τονίσει ξανά έχω συμβόλαιο με τον Ολυμπιακό μέχρι την επόμενη χρονιά και είμαι πολύ καλά στην Ελλάδα. Όλα αυτά θα πρέπει να τα δούμε στο μέλλον».

Ρομπέρτο: «Στην καρδιά μου η Ατλέτικο»

Δεν κάνει σκέψεις εκδίκησης κόντρα στην Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης ο Ρόμπερτο, τονίζοντας πως στόχος του Ολυμπιακού είναι να πάρει θετικό αποτέλεσμα στο «Βιθέντε Καλδερόν».

«Τα εννιά χρόνια που πέρασα στην Ατλέτικο, με έκαναν αυτό που είμαι σήμερα» ανέφερε ο Ρομπέρτο. «Εκεί μεγάλωσα και γνώρισα τις αξίες του ποδοσφαίρου, τη θέση του τερματοφύλακα και τον επαγγελματισμό».

Όσον αφορά στο τι θα σημαίνει για τον ίδιο ενδεχόμενη νίκη του Ολυμπιακό στην ισπανική πρωτεύουσα, ο Ρομπέρτο σχολίασε: «Προσωπικά, νίκη θα σημαίνει κάτι ξεχωριστό αλλά σε καμία περίπτωση εκδίκηση, γιατί η Ατλέτικο είναι πάντα στην καρδιά μου, το τι θα συμβεί στο χορτάρι δεν αλλάζει όπου κι αν παίζεις» ήταν τα λόγια του.

Τέλος, ανέφερε: «Εάν θέλουμε να προχωρήσουμε σαν Ολυμπιακός, πρέπει να πάρουμε πόντους στην Ισπανία».
