Ο Άρθουρ Αθανασίου πρόεδρος του Φορολογικού Ινστιτούτου

Θα μπορούσαμε να χαρακτηρίσουμε ως μία ακόμη μεγάλη επιτυχία του ελληνόφωνου κόσμου της παροικίας της Μελβούρνης το διορισμό του Άρθουρ Αθανασίου στην προεδρία του Φορολογικού Ινστιτούτου (Tax Institute) για το 2016.

Μετά τους διορισμούς, του Στίβεν Σαπουντζή στην προεδρία του Δικηγορικού Συλλόγου Βικτώριας (Law Institute of Victoria), του Πωλ Αναστασίου στην προεδρία του Νομικού Συλλόγου της Βικτώριας (Victorian Bar Association), και της Άντριας Τσαλαμανδρή στο Ειρηνοδικείο Βικτώριας.

Σύμφωνα με τον κ. Αθανασίου, στόχος του Ινστιτούτου για την φετινή χρονιά είναι να διατηρήσει τον εκπαιδευτικό του χαρακτήρα και να συνεχίσει να συνεργάζεται με την κυβέρνηση και το Θησαυροφυλάκιο.

“Το 2016 πρόκειται για μια σημαντική χρονιά και λόγω των επικείμενων εκλογών, αλλά και για το φορολογικό σύστημα αφού υπάρχουν ενδείξεις ότι θα υπάρξουν σημαντικές μεταρρυθμίσεις εκεί” αναφέρει σε ανακοίνωσή του μετά την ανάληψη των καθηκόντων του.

Φέτος, το Ινστιτούτο θα εστιάσει το ενδιαφέρον του σε δύο θέματα: Το πρώτο θα είναι προώθηση της ψηφιοποίησης του φορολογικού δικτύου και το δεύτερο η επέκταση των εκπαιδευτικών προγραμμάτων του Ινστιτούτου.

Το Ινστιτούτο θα προσπαθήσει να υπάρξει συνεχή και σωστή ροή δεδομένων προς την Εφορία μέσω του συστήματος SBR (ή Standard Business Reporting) που είναι η ψηφιακή καταγραφή είτε μέσω διαδικτύου είτε με ηλεκτρονική αρχειοθέτηση των επιχειρηματικών αναφορών.

Σε περίπτωση που εφαρμοστεί κάτι τέτοιο, τότε η επικοινωνία κυβέρνησης – επιχειρήσεων θα γίνει άμεση. Η κυβέρνηση θα μπορεί να μοιράζει τις πληροφορίες για τις επιχειρήσεις στις κυβερνητικές υπηρεσίες και το κόστος της συναλλαγής αυτής θα μειωθεί σημαντικά.

Σύμφωνα με τον κορυφαίο φοροτεχνικό της Πολιτείας, αναμένονται πολλές μεταρρυθμίσεις και το Ινστιτούτο θα βρίσκεται στην πρώτη γραμμή των συζητήσεων με την κυβέρνηση και τον επιχειρηματικό κόσμο.

Το Ινστιτούτο προσφέρει μάλιστα και ένα μεταπτυχιακό πρόγραμμα το οποίο θα διδάσκεται από κορυφαίους πανεπιστημιακούς της χώρας ειδικευμένους στη φορολογία και θα επιτρέψει τους σπουδαστές να προχωρούν στην πρακτική εφαρμογή (και κατανόηση) του νόμου παρά σε μια πιο στεγνή θεωρητική προσέγγισή του.

Ο κ. Αθανασίου είναι διαπιστευμένος στο Φορολογικό Δίκαιο, και ειδικεύεται στην επίλυση των φορολογικών διαφορών μικρών και μικρομεσαίων επιχειρήσεων με την Εφορία και της Υπηρεσίας Εσόδων του Κράτους. Κατείχε υψηλές διοικητικές θέσεις στους τομείς των μεταφορών και της αυτοκινητοβιομηχανίας. Εμφανίζεται τακτικά στα μέσα μαζικής ενημέρωσης, κάνει παρουσιάσεις σε ειδικά φορολογικά σεμινάρια και ομάδες συζήτησης.

Το Φορολογικό Ινστιτούτο είναι ένας ιδιαίτερα σημαντικός οργανισμός που αποστολή του είναι να προσφέρει νομικές υπηρεσίες στις συναλλαγές των φορολογουμένων με την κυβέρνηση, το Θησαυροφυλάκιο και την Εφορία. Συγκροτήθηκε το 1943 για να συνδράμει στο έργο των φοροτεχνικών και των υπευθύνων για τις αλλαγές στην Φορολογική Νομοθεσία. Αποτελεί έναν δυναμικό φορέα με 14.000 μέλη.

What’s thought to be a rare albino kangaroo has been spotted on the side of a road in South Australia.

A rare albino kangaroo has become a social media star after being spotted at the Big Bend on the River Murray in South Australia.

Albino animals usually have a shorter life-span as their easy-to-spot appearance makes them vulnerable.

Their white skin also makes them susceptible to sun damage and skin cancer, and they have a genetic predisposition towards sight and hearing issues – making it harder for them to fight off prey.

The photo of the unusual kangaroo was taken south of Swan Reach by Rosemary Faehrmann, who posted the image on her houseboat firm’s Facebook page.

“I jumped out of the car with the camera and the roo stopped at the same time and looked back at us to see if we were chasing it I think,” Ms Faehrmann said.

“It just stood their looking for a minute and I fired off a couple of quick shots on the camera and then it took off further down the fence line.”

The image has been shared on Facebook more than 7000 times and has had more than 8000 likes since it was posted earlier this month.

“It went crazy, we’ve had a reach of over a million people on our page, and the South Australian Tourism Commission has shared on their pages here in South Australia and also in the UK, Germany and India,” she said.

“We’ve had some really great response actually.”

Ms Faehrmann said while she sees kangaroos on a daily basis, she had never seen a white one before.

“There’s quite a few around in wildlife parks, Bordertown, Cudlee Creek, places like that have them in captivity where they can be protected, but in the wild they have a bit of a harder time surviving,” she said.

“So seeing them in the wild is more unusual definitely.

“I was quite excited about it and I thought surely other people will be excited as well and they have been.”

Two Golden Dawn MPs, Ilias Kasidiaris (photo) and Nikos Pappas, were thrown out of Parliament’s Defense and Foreign Policy Committee on Wednesday after accusing Defense Minister Panos Kammenos of being a “traitor” for using the armed forces to help the country deal with the refugee crisis.

Parliament’s security guards were called to eject the lawmakers after their sustained verbal attack on the minister, which Kasidiaris filmed.

The video later appeared on the Internet. Kammenos, along with military chiefs, had been briefing deputies about the response to the refugee crisis.

One of the members of the committee, New Democracy’s Dora Bakoyannis, called it “one of the blackest days for the parliamentary process.”

PASOK’s Odysseas Konstantinopoulos labeled the two MPs’ behavior “Nazi-like.”

It is not clear if further action will be taken against Kasidiaris for filming the committee, whose session took place behind closed doors for national security reasons.

Recycling yard where organic waste is turned gas

New South Wales Police have confirmed two human legs that were removed during surgery have been found in a waste dump near Newcastle.

A man working at a waste management centre in Wallsend found the legs sticking out of a pile of garbage yesterday afternoon.

It’s believed the legs were removed during a legitimate surgery and dumped, along with syringes and blood vials.

NSW police have referred the matter to the department of health.

The Environmental Protection Agency is investigating this matter, a NSW Health spokesman
