More than 120 people have been killed in a series of coordinated terrorist attacks across Paris, including a massacre at a rock concert.

The Bataclan concert hall in eastern Paris was playing host to sold out crowds who had turned out to see US rock band Eagles of Death Metal on Friday night (local time).

Gunmen and bombers also attacked busy restaurants and bars, and explosions were heard near a stadium in what a shaken French president Francois Hollande described as an unprecedented terrorist attack.

More than 350 people were injured in the attacks, about 100 of those seriously.

One Australian, Emma Grace Parkinson, 19, from Hobart, was believed to have been shot and was taken to hospital for treatment.

A witness inside the concert hall said black-clothed gunmen stormed the building and calmly fired AK-47s into the crowd.

Another witness said they heard one of the attackers shout in Arabic “Allahu akbar” (God is greatest), while another person said they heard a gunman blame France’s intervention in the Syrian civil war as the reason for the attack.

Several explosions were heard after a police assault of the venue got underway, with reports later emerging that four gunmen, each wearing explosive belts, died.

Three of the attackers blew themselves up while a fourth was hit by police fire and “blew up as he fell”, a source told AFP.

Eight militants in total were killed around Paris, including seven by their suicide belts, an AFP source said.

Earlier, 18 people were killed when a gunman opened fire on Friday night diners sitting at outdoor terraces in the popular Charonne area, not far from the Bataclan concert hall.

And in the north of the city, several people were killed in three explosions near the Stade de France where France were playing Germany in an international football match, security sources said.

President Hollande was attending the match and had to be hastily evacuated.

A witness said one of the detonations blew people into the air outside a McDonald’s restaurant opposite the stadium.

The match continued until the end, but panic broke out in the crowd as rumours of the attack spread, and spectators were held in the stadium and assembled spontaneously on the pitch.

A French radio reporter who was inside the Bataclan concert hall gave a harrowing account of the “10 horrific minutes” when gunmen entered and fired calmly and randomly at hundreds of screaming concertgoers.

“It was a bloodbath,” Julien Pearce, a reporter for France’s Europe 1 radio station, told CNN.

“People yelled, screamed and everybody [was] lying on the floor, and it lasted for 10 minutes, 10 minutes, 10 horrific minutes where everybody was on the floor covering their heads.

“We heard so many gunshots and the terrorists were very calm, very determined and they reloaded three or four times their weapons and they didn’t shout anything. They didn’t say anything.”

Pierce recounted seeing 20 to 25 bodies on the floor and others very badly injured.

Toon, a 22 year-old messenger who lives near the Bataclan, was going into the concert hall with two friends at 10:30pm when he saw three young men dressed in black and armed with machine guns. He stayed outside.

One of the gunmen began firing into the crowd.

“People were falling like dominoes,” he said.

Mr Hollande has declared a state of emergency for all of France and has reimposed border controls, which will restrict freedom of movement as people attempt to enter from other EU countries.

Several Metro lines in Paris have been closed and an additional 1,500 soldiers mobilised around the city.

Survivors from the concert hall massacre were bussed away from the scene, with those uninjured taken to police stations to be interviewed.

Kevin Muscat believes the club’s culture was the reason an under-manned Melbourne Victory came away with a superb away win over Sydney FC on Saturday night.

Despite having as many as six players unavailable through suspension or on international duty, Victory surged to a gripping 4-2 win at Allianz Stadium.

Coming from behind on two occasions, last season’s champions showed all their class and fighting qualities to continue their recent dominance over the Sky Blues.

“We didn’t come here to make a statement, we came here to perform and on the night I thought we were exceptional,” a delighted Muscat said.

“There was a lot of talk during the week, fortunately enough for us we’ve built a culture where we leave our talking for the park.

“It was an exceptional night for us tonight, a great win. I think that’s seven games now they haven’t beaten us.

“Three of the goals we scored were outstanding goals,” the Victory boss added.

Victory’s goals came via a brace to marquee striker Besart Berisha, with Gui Finkler and substitute Kosta Barbarouses also pitching in either side of the break.

Always one to deliver on the big occasion, Berisha is enjoying a brilliant run of form at the moment and has found the net 13 times in his last 14 games in all competitions.

“No one gets a minutes peace when he’s around,” Muscat said of the Albanian attacker.
“You give him those opportunities and he took his two goals ever so well tonight. But it’s more than that from him, he brings so much more to the team.

“It’s everyone else behind him backing him up too. When he decides to press or when he’s making runs, we feed him and he’s an unbelievable focal point.

“He’s enjoying an unbelievable period at the moment.”

Ominously for opposition sides, Muscat believes Victory are only just “scratching the surface” into how good they can be.

On Saturday a thick silence throttled Paris like a hangover. Under grey skies there was muted grief, horror, and above all, pure shock.

Paris’ response to the Charlie Hebdo attacks 10 months ago was noisy defiance.

But on Saturday there were no loud demonstrations, no groups linking arms to sing and chant about freedom and solidarity.

The government had forbidden such gatherings as a security measure, in the wake of the terrorist attacks across the city. But anyway there was not the spirit.

Arriving trains disgorged few tourists, only journalists.

Central avenues were sparsely populated, the normal bustle of shoppers culled by fear (and the closure of the Metro).

“I’ve never seen the city looking like this,” one Parisian told France 24. “It’s scary. No-one is looking at each other.”

The Eiffel Tower was shut, as was the Louvre, as were sports stadiums, schools, public gymnasiums and libraries. They will be shut again on Sunday.

The usual tourist trail was replaced by a new march of grief.

Alone and in small groups, Parisians and visitors were drawn to the sites of Friday night’s attacks, bringing flowers, tributes or just their sorrow.

The cafes and bars were taped off and shuttered. Procedural police notices were stuck to the wall, “Prefecture de Police. Infraction: Assassinats en relation avec une entreprise terroriste”.

“Offence: murder in a terrorist operation.”

Bullet holes dotted windows. Below them small drifts of red sand were still damp with the blood of victims, trod often unnoticed beneath the feet of smartphone-wielding onlookers.

Inside the cafes meals lay abandoned on tables. On bartops, pairs of barely-touched beers bore witness to conversations interrupted, perhaps never to be rejoined.

On the pavements at these crime scenes across the city, tributes began to multiply. Roses rested on bloodstains. Candles flickered beside notes of love and loss.

Some bowed their heads in prayer, others knelt and lit candles. The November wind blew them out, and Parisians kept relighting them.

At the Belle Equipe café, a woman passing on a bicycle broke down into helpless sobs, waving away the media, embracing her confused toddler daughter.

Psychiatrist Dr Vincent Jardon, who treated some of those psychologically damaged by their close encounter with the terrorists on Friday night, said he thought he knew why the mood was different to January.

“It’s the number,” he said. The number of the dead and injured, the number of the attacks and the attackers.

“It’s like a nightmare. They are saddened and they are shocked.”

In a condolence book at the local council office, page after page spoke of people’s grief and sorrow, their thoughts with the lost and their families and loved ones.

The word “horreur” recurred, page after page.

But there were sparks of defiance. “I hope my country can again become a place of freedom”, one had written.

“Je suis Paris,” wrote another, in large, bold letters.

The city is not despairing.

“Courage,” said one taxi driver, by way of farewell.

At a blood bank opposite the site of one of the shootings, Parisians had queued patiently to donate all day. Eventually, they were asked to go away. They signed pledges to come back the day after, and again after that.

“We have too many people,” said Carole Bagot of the Etablissement Français du San (French blood service). “We need people the next day, the next week.

“Hundreds have come, here and to places like this in Paris. They filled with people. They want to give.

“Inside the atmosphere is strange. It is not so comfortable. They are sad, shocked.”

Down at Place de la Republique, where the Charlie Hebdo demonstrations had been so raucous, small groups came to leave flowers at the feet of the Liberty statue, while an official loudhailer encouraged them not to linger.

“Still not afraid,” said a small sign, in defiance of everything.

A few hundred metres away, under bullet holes in the window of a brasserie bar, candles flickered as twilight fell on the city of light.

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has labelled a series of terrorist attacks in Paris an assault intended to suppress freedom worldwide.

Speaking from Berlin, Mr Turnbull praised France’s resilience and pledged solidarity with its people.

“The home of freedom has been assaulted by terrorists determined to attack and suppress freedom, not just in France, but throughout the world,” he said.

“This is an attack, as president [Barack] Obama has said, on all humanity.”
Mr Turnbull praised the French football fans who sang the national anthem as they left Stade de France, where several bombs were detonated.

“They sang their national anthem proudly and that is how all free people should respond to these assaults,” he said.

“Freedom stands up for itself, stands up for its values in the face of terrorism.

“In France, and Australia, all around the world, we stand shoulder to shoulder with the people of France and with all free peoples in the battle against terrorism.”

He said the terror alert level for Australia would not be raised from its current “high” rating in the wake of the attacks.

“Australians should be reassured, that we have the finest security agencies in the world,” he said.

“We are working very closely with security agencies in other countries, of course, particularly now with the security agencies in France.”

Attacks have hallmark of Islamic State: Bishop

Earlier, Foreign Minister Julie Bishop told reporters in Perth she did not believe any Australians were killed or injured in the attacks.

“This is indeed a black Friday for France and for the world,” she said.

“We have offered all assistance to the French authorities and we stand in solidarity with the French people in condemning these horrific and devastating attacks.”

She said at least 2,500 Australians were registered as being in France.
“My advice to Australians is stay put, keep safe,” Ms Bishop said.

The Foreign Minister also linked the attacks with Islamic State, but stressed no organisation had yet claimed responsibility.

“We don’t know who has carried out these horrendous attacks on innocent people, but it certainly has all the hallmarks of the terrorist attacks we’ve seen in recent times by [Islamic State], Daesh and similar organisations,” she said.

Other political leaders have also condemned the attacks, including Opposition Leader Bill Shorten.

“The world will not give in to fear,” he wrote on Twitter.

Greens leader Richard Di Natale also expressed his sympathies.

“On behalf of the Australian Greens, our thoughts are with the people of Paris who have lost loved ones in this horrendous and senseless violence,” Mr Di Natale said.

“Australia should do whatever it can to assist France in this time of tragedy and heartbreak.”

Former prime ministers Tony Abbott and Kevin Rudd wrote on Twitter about the attacks.

Mr Abbott said the atrocity illustrated “the scale of the security challenge we all face”, while Mr Rudd called the events “an attack on us all”.

Mr Abbott told Macquarie Radio the attacks show the challenges of dealing with the Islamic State terrorist group.

“This is a grim day for the people of Paris and the people of France,” he said.

“It’s a grim reminder of the security challenges all of us face.

“I certainly want to reassure Australians that we have ever vigilant and highly professional police and emergency services.”

A group of people have lifted a car to free a woman who was trapped underneath after an accident in Newcastle on Friday.

Police said emergency services were called to the intersection of Perkins and Hunter streets about 2.20pm on Friday.

Officers were told that the car reversed into a parked vehicle before mounting a footpath, knocking over a woman and a baby, and crashing into a cafe.

Witnesses said the parked vehicle was a taxi.

Bennett Joy was among the first on the scene. He said he heard two loud bangs and then screams, before about seven people ran to help the woman and baby.

“Obviously the first bang was the car hitting the taxi and the second hitting the wall,” Mr Joy said.

“You couldn’t see [the mother] at all and the father was screaming, ‘That’s my baby, that’s my wife.’ ”

A man, presumed to be the woman’s partner, started to scream, “She’s under there.”

“Someone said get a [car] jack and someone else just said, ‘Let’s lift it,’ ” Mr Joy said.

“We all just got together and lifted it to get her out.

“They lifted it up like it was nothing,” Mr Joy said.

“It took them about 20 seconds to release her.”

Στο 24,6% υποχώρησε η ανεργία τον Αύγουστο από το αναθεωρημένο 24,9 τον προηγούμενο μήνα, σύμφωνα με στοιχεία της ΕΛΣΤΑΤ.

Ήταν το χαμηλότερο ποσοστό από τον Ιούνιο του 2012, οπότε είχε διαμορφωθεί στο 24,9%. Παραμένει, όμως, σε υπερδιπλάσια επίπεδα σε σχέση με την ευρωζώνη.

Το σύνολο των απασχολουμένων κατά το Αύγουστο του 2015 εκτιμάται ότι ανήλθε σε 3.614.192 άτομα.

Οι άνεργοι ανήλθαν σε 1.180.001 άτομα, ενώ ο οικονομικά μη ενεργός πληθυσμός ανήλθε σε 3.286.686 άτομα.

Οι απασχολούμενοι αυξήθηκαν κατά 67.426 άτομα σε σχέση με το Αύγουστο του 2014 (αύξηση 1,9%) και κατά 10.662 άτομα σε σχέση με τον Ιούλιο του 2015 (αύξηση 0,3).

Οι άνεργοι μειώθηκαν κατά 78.084 άτομα σε σχέση με το Αύγουστο του 2014 (μείωση 6,2%) και κατά 15.740 άτομα σε σχέση με τον Ιούλιο του 2015 (μείωση 1,3%).

Η ανεργία στην Ελλάδα είχε φθάσει σε επίπεδα ρεκόρ το Σεπτέμβριο του 2013, οπότε άγγιξε το 27,9%.

Η απονομή των Βραβείων Πολυπολιτισμικών Επιχειρήσεων 2015

Την Παρασκευή, 6 Νοεμβρίου 2015, πραγματοποιήθηκε στην Αδελαΐδα η 27η Απονομή Βραβείων σε Πολυπολιτισμικές Επιχειρήσεις Νότιας Αυστραλίας (Ethnic Business Awards 2015), σε αίθουσα κεντρικού ξενοδοχείου της πόλης.

Η απονομή των βραβείων διεξάγεται κάθε χρόνο με σκοπό να αναδειχθούν και βραβευθούν επιχειρηματίες διαφορετικών εθνικοτήτων, οι οποίοι μετανάστευσαν στην Αυστραλία και τώρα διαπρέπουν σε διάφορους επιχειρηματικούς τομείς, αποτελώντας ζωντανό παράδειγμα προς μίμηση για όλες τις κοινωνικές ομάδες και εθνικότητες.

H δημοσιογράφος και παρουσιάστρια, Tracey Spicer, η οποία ανέλαβε χρέη οικοδέσποινας, αφού καλωσόρισε τους παραβρισκόμενους, έδωσε το λόγο στον επίσημο διοργανωτή της βραδιάς, ιδρυτή και πρόεδρο του θεσμού των Πολυπολυτισμικών Βραβείων, Joseph Assaf, ο οποίος δραστηριοποιείται στον τομέα του μάρκετινγκ.

«Απόψε, όπως κάθε χρόνο, γιορτάζουμε και τιμούμε την διαφορετικότητα που, ουσιαστικά, εγγυάται ένα ειρηνικό και αρμονικό μέλλον με ευημερία» δήλωσε χαρακτηριστικά ο δραστήριος επιχειρηματίας, συμπληρώνοντας, ότι η ενότητα σε μια χώρα είναι αυτή που δημιουργεί ευκαιρίες.

«Η Αυστραλία, η οποία έχει από την εποχή του 2ου Παγκοσμίου Πολέμου υποδεχθεί πάνω από 7,5 εκατομμύρια μετανάστες, επωφελείται σε πολύ μεγάλο βαθμό κοινωνικά, αλλά και οικονομικά, από το πολιτισμικό αυτό κύμα των τελευταίων δεκαετιών».

Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι τα τελευταία έξι μόλις χρόνια, έχει συμπεριληφθεί στα εν λόγω βραβεία ξεχωριστή κατηγορία στην οποία διαγωνίζονται αυτόχθονες, αβορίγινες επιχειρηματίες, που με την δραστηριότητά τους προσφέρουν στην οικονομία και το κοινωνικό σύνολο γενικότερα. Νικητής στην κατηγορία αυτή αναδείχθηκε ο κ. Dereck Flucker για την μεγαλύτερη εταιρεία Βιομηχανίας Πρώτων Υλών που εδρεύει στην Πολιτεία του Queensland.

Μετά την αξιολόγηση από ειδική επιτροπή, αποτελούμενη από τρεις επιφανείς επιχειρηματίες που διαπρέπουν ο καθένας στον τομέα του και, πιο συγκεκριμένα, τους Eve Crestani, Carla Zampatti και Allan Gyngell, το βραβείο για την καλύτερη Μικρή Επιχείρηση (Small Business Award) απονεμήθηκε στον ιαπωνικής καταγωγής Takeshi Takada για την εταιρεία του με έδρα την Πολιτεία του Queensland, ενώ το βραβείο για την Mεσσαία-Mεγάλη Επιχείρηση (Medium-Large Business Award) απονεμήθηκε στον λιβανέζικης καταγωγής Joseph Kairouz, για την εταιρεία του η οποία ασχολείται με την εξαγωγή τροφίμων και έχει έδρα την πολιτεία της Βικτώρια.

Tην ελληνική παροικία εκπροσώπησαν επάξια δύο συμμετοχές. Ο επιχειρηματίας Γιάννης Χαλίκος (από το Darwin), ο οποίος δραστηριοποιείται στον τομέα των κατασκευών και διαγωνίστηκε στην κατηγορία μεσαίων/μεγάλων επιχειρήσεων (Medium-Large Business Award) και ο Χρήστος Παρτσιόγλου (από τη Βικτώρια), ο οποίος δραστηριοποιείται στον τομέα των τροφίμων και ήταν φιναλίστ του Βραβείου Επιχειρηματικότητας στην κατηγορία Μικρών Επιχειρήσεων (Small Business Award).

Μεταξύ άλλων, στην εκδήλωση παραβρέθηκαν ο γενικός πρόξενος της Ελλάδας στην Νότια Αυστραλία, κ. Ανδρέας Κωνσταντίνος Γκούρας καθώς και ο πολιτειακός Θησαυροφύλακας κ. Τομ Κουτσαντώνης.

«Τα Πολυπολυτισμικά Βραβεία έχουν τεράστια σημασία, όχι μόνο για τους διαγωνιζόμενους και τις κοινωνικές ομάδες στις οποίες ανήκουν, αλλά και για την ίδια την Αυστραλία ως σύνολο, διότι επιδεικνύουν στην ευρύτερη αυστραλιανή κοινωνία την ικανότητα και τις αξιέπαινες δραστηριότητες των μεταναστών, οι οποίοι εκτιμώντας τις ευκαιρίες που τους δίνει μια χώρα όπως είναι η Αυστραλία, κατορθώνουν με σκληρή δουλειά και αφοσίωση να επιτύχουν τους στόχους τους και να προσφέρουν στο ευρύτερο κοινωνικό σύνολο» δήλωσε, μετά το πέρας της εκδήλωσης, ο πολιτειακός Θησαυροφύλακας.

Η βραδιά της Απονομής των Βραβείων EBA 2015 θα μεταδοθεί από το κανάλι SBS One το Σάββατο, 14 Νοεμβρίου 2015, στις 15.30μμ. καθώς και από το κανάλι NITV το Σάββατο, 21 Νοεμβρίου 2015 στις 19.30μμ.

Ο Όμηρος Ευστρατιάδης θα μεταφέρει στον κινηματογράφο μια δίωρη μυθοπλασία με μικρά και μεγάλα μυστικά του αξέχαστου θρύλου του λαϊκού τραγουδιού.

Tαινία γίνεται (επιτέλους!) η ζωή του Στέλιου Καζαντζίδη! Ο γνωστός σκηνοθέτης Όμηρος Ευστρατιάδης αναλαμβάνει να μεταφέρει στη μεγάλη οθόνη μια δίωρη μυθοπλασία με τον τίτλο «Στέλιος, η ζωή του όλη» η οποία θα περιλαμβάνει μικρά και μεγάλα μυστικά από τη ζωή και την καριέρα του θρύλου του ελληνικού τραγουδιού.

H ταινία, η οποία θα είναι βασισμένη στο βιογραφικό βιβλίο του Πάνου Υφαντή, θα αποκαλύψει λεπτομέρειες για τον άγνωστο γάμο του «Στελλάρα» στην Αμερική, τον λόγο που ο κορυφαίος καλλιτέχνης δεν απέκτησε ποτέ παιδιά, αλλά και πώς απαρνήθηκε ένα παλάτι για ένα καλύβι ή πώς μια κατσικούλα αποφάσισε ότι δεν έπρεπε εκείνος να δεχτεί για δώρο ένα κότερο! Η κινηματογραφική μεταφορά της βιογραφίας θα υλοποιηθεί με τις ευλογίες της τελευταίας συζύγου του καλλιτέχνη Βάσως Καζαντζίδη, αφού, σύμφωνα με βιντεοσκοπημένο μήνυμά του, ο Στέλιος -που ήταν μανιακός συλλέκτης ντοκουμέντων και εμπειριών- είχε δηλώσει ότι επιθυμούσε κάποια στιγμή η περιπετειώδης ζωή του να γυριστεί στο σελιλόιντ.

Αν και οι δημιουργοί αυτού του ενδιαφέροντος εγχειρήματος τηρούν προς το παρόν σιγήν ιχθύος, οι πληροφορίες της «Εspresso» θέλουν ήδη να προχωρά η διαδικασία διαμόρφωσης του σεναρίου, το οποίο είναι ιδιαίτερα καλογραμμένο και μεστό, και περιλαμβάνει μια σειρά από περιστατικά της ζωής του Καζαντζίδη που πιθανόν να μη γνωρίζουν ούτε καν εκείνοι που τον έχουν κατατάξει στο φάσμα του μύθου.

Ιδιαίτερη έμφαση θα δοθεί, ωστόσο, σε γεγονότα που αποδεικνύουν ότι ο Στέλιος -παρότι είχε τη δυνατότητα να ζει μέσα τα πλούτη- παρέμενε ένας λαϊκός και αγνός άνθρωπος.

Σύμφωνα με τις πληροφορίες της «Εspresso», το σενάριο περιλαμβάνει λεπτομέρειες για τον -άγνωστο στο ευρύ κοινό- γάμο που είχε τελέσει ο Καζαντζίδης στις ΗΠΑ με μια Αμερικανίδα. Η υπερβολική αγάπη του ερμηνευτή για τη μητέρα του Γεσθημανή ήταν και ο λόγος που αναγκάστηκε να επιστρέψει στην Ελλάδα, με τον γάμο να έχει άδοξο τέλος.

«ΕΓΩ ΕΝΑ ΚΑΛΥΒΙ ΘΕΛΩ»

Επίσης αποκαλύπτεται ένα περιστατικό, κατά το οποίο ο Στέλιος δεν δέχτηκε να χτίσει ένα χλιδάτο παλάτι στον Άγιο Κωνσταντίνο, όπου μετέπειτα έφτιαξε το σπιτάκι του. «Τι μου λες, αδελφέ; Εγώ ένα καλύβι θέλω και τη βαρκούλα μου, δεν γουστάρω τίποτα παραπάνω» είπε κοφτά στον εξαίρετο αρχιτέκτονα που του παρουσίασε τα σχέδια ενός υπερπολυτελούς σπιτιού με πισίνα, γκαζόν, ακόμη και play-room!

Επίσης, δεν δέχτηκε για δώρο το σκάφος που του έδινε ο υπεύθυνος γνωστής δισκογραφικής εταιρίας. Ο λόγος; Η Μαριώ, η κατσίκα του. «Αμα μπει μέσα η Μαριώ, θα το πάρω» δήλωσε με απόλυτο τρόπο ο Στέλιος στον άνθρωπο που του έκανε το δώρο. Τελικά δεν το πήρε, γιατί η Μαριώ του το… σνόμπαρε και δεν ανέβηκε πάνω.

ΤΟΝ ΕΙΧΕ ΚΛΟΤΣΗΣΕΙ ΜΟΥΛΑΡΙ

Στην ταινία θα δούμε επίσης και στιγμές που έπαιξαν καταλυτικό ρόλο σε γεγονότα της ζωής του και τον σημάδεψαν. Όπως ότι, ενώ υπηρετούσε τη θητεία του στον Στρατό, τον κλότσησε ένα μουλάρι στα γεννητικά όργανα με αποτέλεσμα να πάθει σοβαρή ζημιά και να μην κατορθώσει ποτέ να αποκτήσει παιδί!

Όσο για τη δυναμική στάση του απέναντι στα ζητήματα της δουλειάς του, ο φακός του σκηνοθέτη πρόκειται να αποτυπώσει σκηνές από την αρνητική στάση του απέναντι στη χούντα που λογόκρινε τα τραγούδια του αλλά και από την άρνησή του να εμφανιστεί σε συναυλίες για τους ομογενείς στην Αμερική αντί αστρονομικής αμοιβής, γιατί οι διοργανωτές είχαν βάλει μεγάλο εισιτήριο εισόδου. «Δεν θα τα πάρω από τους Ελληνες μετανάστες» είπε τότε και χάλασε τη δουλειά.

Ο Στέλιος Καζαντζίδης έκανε μεγάλο αγώνα για τα δικαιώματα των τραγουδιστών και των συνθετών σχετικά με τα ποσοστά τους και πάντα νοιαζόταν για τo δίκαιο των αδύναμων συναδέλφων του. «Η πορεία του, προσωπική και επαγγελματική, δεν έχει σκάνδαλα και είναι πολύ ξεχωριστή για τον ιδιαίτερο τρόπο που ο ίδιος αντιμετώπιζε τα πράγματα. Μέσα από τα κλασικά λαϊκά κομμάτια που ερμήνευσε με τον δικό του μοναδικό τρόπο αλλά και από τον αγώνα που έκανε σε όλη τη ζωή του για την αλήθεια και το δίκαιο υπέρ των αδυνάτων είναι αναμφισβήτητα ένα υπόδειγμα ανθρωπιάς και λεβεντιάς, που σπάνια βλέπουμε» υποστηρίζουν για εκείνον άτομα που τον γνώρισαν από κοντά.

ΤΟ ΦΟΡΤΙΟ ΤΟΥ ΡΟΛΟΥ ΣΕ ΣΑΡΑΝΤΑΡΗ ΗΘΟΠΟΙΟ

Αν και ακόμη είναι νωρίς να μιλήσουμε για το καστ της πολυαναμενόμενης ταινίας, το βέβαιο είναι ότι επιθυμία του σκηνοθέτη είναι ο ρόλος του Στέλιου Καζαντζίδη να ανατεθεί σε έναν μη αναγνωρίσιμο ηθοποιό περίπου 40 χρόνων.

Ο λόγος αυτής της επιλογής είναι ότι πρόκειται για ένα εξαιρετικά δύσκολο «φορτίο», που ο σκηνοθέτης δεν θα επιθυμούσε να σηκώσει κάποιος ήδη καταξιωμένος ηθοποιός. Όσο για τους πολύ σημαντικούς ρόλους της τελευταίας συζύγου του Βάσως Καζαντζίδη, της Καίτης Γκρέυ και της Μαρινέλλας, πρόκειται να γίνει κάστινγκ προκειμένου να βρεθούν τα κατάλληλα πρόσωπα.

Όσο για τη γυναίκα που ο Καζαντζίδης λάτρεψε περισσότερο από οποιαδήποτε άλλη, τη μητέρα του Γεσθημανή, λέγεται ότι θα την υποδυθεί η Πηνελόπη Πιτσούλη ενώ στον ρόλο του Άκη Πάνου θα δούμε πιθανότατα τον Τάσο Παλαντζίδη.

Take a glimpse at the anticipated film, packed with laughs

Nia Vardalos is set to return to the big screen, in a sequel to the much loved film My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

The highest grossing romantic comedy to date, it’s no surprise the trailer has been so well received, with fans delighted with Vardalo’s new material.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 sees Fotoula ‘Toula’ Portokalos played by Vardalos and Ian Miller played by Corbett, years after their marriage, with the addition of their teenage daughter.

Paris, played by Elena Kampouris, is in the midst of preparing her university applications, but to her mother’s dismay, all the institutions Paris is applying for are nowhere near home.

In the midst of the teen’s struggle to deal with her extended Greek family, Toula’s parents encounter a dilemma of their own: they’re not officially married.

Upon realising their priest failed to sign and officiate their wedding certificate, Maria declares herself to be “a hippie!”

So now there’s another big fat Greek wedding to prepare for, and though the trailer only shows a snippet of what is to come, there are many hilarious moments.

Despite the original film’s overwhelming success, grossing US$240 million in North America alone, the actress and screenwriter says she took her time for the sequel, until it felt right.

“The reason I didn’t want to do the sequel is because at the end of the first one, I had written that we were parents,” said Vardalos.

“And in reality, I was not a parent. Even though I make stuff up, I couldn’t write from a place of emotions that I didn’t know.”

But in 2008, the 53-year-old and her husband, actor Ian Gomez, adopted a little girl of their own giving her first-hand experience at parenthood and inspiring the much-anticipated sequel.

My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2 is due to be released in the US in March 2016.

Dual nationals could face losing their Australian citizenship in a bid to protect the nation’s national security.

Under new laws, dual nationals in Australia considered to be terrorists will be stripped of their Australian citizenship.

The proposed Allegiance to Australia laws are being presented to parliament, with indications the bill is being back by Labor on the condition that recommended changes be made.

If the law is passed, citizenship will be cancelled if a person is discovered to be engaging in terrorist activity, along with those convicted of a terrorist offence.

Cross-party committee member, Dan Tehan didn’t shy away from clarifying the purpose of the bill.

“For people who are dual citizens, do not carry out terrorist acts. Understand that, if you do, then you are revoking your Australian citizenship. And that’s a point that the Government feels very firmly about,” said Mr Tehan.

If passed, the Government is also looking to apply the laws to those already convicted of jail sentences of 10 years or more and in Australian jails.

Immigration Minister Peter Dutton, says the bill acknowledges serious threats to Australia’s national security.

“The fact is that we have foreign fighters, people who have left our shores…We’re not talking about rendering people stateless, but, if people have been involved in terrorism, then there is a consequence to pay for their own conduct,” said Mr Dutton.

Though Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has recognised the proposal could face challenges in the High Court, he believes it has “gone through a proper process now”.

“We are confident that it would survive a High Court challenge, but only time will tell,” said Mr Turnbull.

Though problematic aspects of the bill have been improved thanks to committee recommendations, constitutional expert Kim Rubenstein says it hasn’t yet been determined whether the parliament will in fact have the power to strip people of their citizenship.

While implementing a law that only affects a portion of Australian society could be problematic says the Professor.

“So it is only dual citizens who become vulnerable under this bill, and those are really key issues in terms of a democratic, multicultural Australia that come to the key of citizenship in our democratic society today and will necessarily be matters that a court, a High Court, will take into account, in terms of the breadth and capacity of a parliament under the constitution to do something as dramatic as take away someone’s citizenship,” said Professor Rubenstein.
