Fugitives Gino and Mark Stocco were seen filling up their car at a southern New South Wales service station last night, Victorian police have confirmed.

Police said a white Toyota LandCruiser stopped to fill up at a service station on the Hume Highway in south Gundagai about 9:00pm (AEDT) before the driver drove off without paying.

Detectives said the pair stole about $200 worth of fuel and were last seen heading south.

Assistant Commissioner Rick Nugent said police believed the pair had used back roads and bush tracks to cross the state border.

“We had a range of police units deployed south around the border but at this stage we haven’t been able to apprehend them,” he said.

There have been multiple sightings of the stolen vehicle in Victoria over the past few days, including an unconfirmed sighting at Sale, in the state’s south east, on Saturday morning.

Police said the men have tried to disguise the vehicle by changing its registration plates. It was most recently seen with number plates from South Australia and a tonneau cover.

They said they believed the men were in possession of four sets of number plates: Vic YHS085, SA S415AZL, Vic ZUE632 and NSW BV70WP.

The ute is also fitted with a distinctive white bull bar, white rims and a black snorkel at the front of the vehicle on the driver’s side.

They described the men as “modern-day bushrangers” who appeared to only come out of the bush when they needed supplies.

Assistant Commissioner Nugent said it was not known whether the men continued into New South Wales or headed back to Victoria.

“What we do know is they are under enormous pressure,” he said.

“They are feeling the pressure of the manhunt. It’s a full-time job for the father and son to avoid capture.

“We will continue to rely on the information from the public to find out where their location is to safely arrest them.”

Police said if anyone spotted the men or their car they should not approach them, but call triple-0 immediately.

Service stations asked to keep an eye out

Gundagai service station owner Kieran Pearce said he was contacted by police who were checking to see if the fugitives were going from servo to servo stealing fuel late last night.

Mr Pearce said he was not frustrated with the police’s handling of the matter, but many others in the small town and wider community were.

“I think they are concerned about why they haven’t been caught more than anything,” he said.

“It is sort of perplexing actually to see how they can just blatantly drive around on main highways and not be caught.

“We are pretty confident it is not going to affect us any, but I don’t know what sort of danger they are to the community.

“I think they are more a danger to themselves and the police and no-one really wants that. So the sooner they are caught the better.”

Yesterday authorities concentrated their search on small convenience stores and petrol stations and liaising with operators to ensure they keep an eye on people filling up.

The Stoccos are wanted for a number of alleged violent crimes and property offences in Queensland, New South Wales and Victoria.

Last week they allegedly shot at police with a high-powered rifle during a car pursuit after failing to pull over in Wagga Wagga.

The men have been changing their appearance, going form beards to being clean shaven, Mr Nugent said.

They are believed to be armed with a high-powered .308 rifle and possibly other weapons.

Catch-and-release shark traps, drones and floating internet networks are set to be trialled from this summer in a bid to nudge nervy NSW beachgoers back into the water.

The $16 million plan is understood to be the single largest global trial of technologies designed to keep sharks and swimmers apart.

The state’s north coast has become ground zero for shark attacks this year and will be at the centre of the government’s initiative to keep swimmers and surfers safe.

‘We know that the north coast has been hurting, and some of the responses and the technologies that we will be deploying will be dedicated to the north coast,’ NSW Primary Industries Minister Niall Blair told reporters at Sydney’s Coogee beach on Sunday.

‘But this is a whole-of-state response.

‘The NSW coastline has over 2000 kilometres, and we know that what works here in Coogee may not work at some of the other beaches across the state.

The plan, which will test next-generation shark defence technology from this summer and extend over five years, will set aside $7.7 million for trials of new technologies and aerial and coastal surveillance.

That includes $3.5 million for aerial helicopter surveillance to provide early warning to swimmers and help shark tagging operations.

Twenty internet-enabled ‘listening stations’ will also be positioned along the coast, which will help track sharks in real-time.

‘This is about helping to reduce the risk for beachgoers and bringing back confidence for those people who love going to the beach but also the businesses that rely upon our tourism dollar,’ Mr Blair said.His department head Scott Hansen says it is the single largest global trial of technologies designed to keep sharks and swimmers apart.

‘This is bringing technologies that might be being trialled in one or two places around the world – this is bringing multiple technologies into one location, for one trial, over one period of time,’ Mr Hansen told reporters.Among the new technologies that may be tested in NSW are so-called ‘smart drum lines’.

It comes less than a year after Western Australia dumped its own controversial drum line program, which involved an anchored bait and hook that trapped sharks and kept them from straying too close to shore.

‘The old drum line basically sits offshore with a piece of bait, it catches a shark, and that shark is only found when the contractor or fisherman retrieves his gear,’ DPI shark expert Vic Peddemors told AAP.

Smart drum lines, on the other hand, send an immediate alert out – meaning NSW authorities will be able to retrieve trapped sharks while they are still healthy, tag them and release them out at sea.

‘The design is to be non-lethal, which is what’s most exciting about the technology,’ Dr Peddemors said.But NSW will have to seek permission from Canberra before deploying the new drum lines.

The minister has also promised coastal communities will be consulted.

Who is Asteras Tripoli Soccer Club? It is from the city of Tripoli in Arcadia, Greece. The club was founded in 1931. Since 2007–08 seasons, they have played in Super league Greece, the top professional league in Greece.1 On October 23rd; they were 7th in Super League.

His mother, retired educator/philologist Pitsa Gerou and father Chistos Macarounis, retired telephone administrator, have instilled in him a love for soccer. Andy Carroll came off the West Ham United bench to hand Chelsea their fifth Barclays Premier League defeat of the season, going down 2-1 at the Boleyn Ground.

Mauro Zarate gave West Ham the lead in the 17th minute, before Kurt Zouma had seen his header cleared off the line by Manuel Lanzini. Chelsea overcame being reduced to 10 men after a second yellow card before half time for Nemanja Matic when Gary Cahill equalised from a corner.

With Jose Mourinho, the Chelsea manager, watching from the stands after being dismissed Carroll rose highest to nod in Aaron Cresswell’s cross in the 79th minute to earn the three points and lift West Ham to second place ahead of Arsenal’s late match against Everton.

Dimitri Payet and Diego Costa fired early chances over the top but the Frenchman fared better with a 30-yard free-kick in the 17th minute that required Asmir Begovic to leap to his right and claw the ball behind for a corner.

Payet’s delivery from the resultant set-piece was not cleared effectively by Costa and Zarate took full advantage, drilling a first-time shot into the back of the net from the edge of the area.

Chelsea dominated possession but struggled to create goalscoring opportunities, with Adrian not called upon until the 33rd minute when he had to parry Willian’s free-kick away from the bottom corner.

Two minutes later Chelsea came within inches of restoring parity when Zouma steered a Cesc Fabregas corner on target, only for Lanzini to clear it off the line.

The Argentine midfielder nearly added to Chelsea’s misery six minutes before the interval but, following a clever flick-on from Payet, his chip floated over the top.

The match did swing further away from Chelsea in the 44th minute, however, when Matic received a second yellow card for a foul on Diafra Sakho, while John Terry and Fabregas were booked for their protests and goalkeeping coach Silvino Lauro was dismissed from the dugout by referee Jon Moss. Moss issued another red to Mourinho during the interval with the Portuguese having to watch the second period from the stand.

That did not hinder Chelsea’s approach and 11 minutes after the restart they drew level. Willian’s corner fell kindly for Cahill, who pounced first to rifle the ball beyond Adrian and into the back of the net.

Chances became minimal for both sides as the visitors adopted a more defensive, patient style of play. But in the 79th minute substitute Carroll, who replaced Zarate, looped a header beyond Begovic from Cresswell’s lofted delivery from the left.

The victory was just West Ham’s second in five home matches this term, while Chelsea’s troublesome start continues.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill: “Not many words are being said at the moment. I’m sure we’ll reflect in next day or so. We worked really hard at 10 men and had the majority of the play in the second half. It’s a summary of our season at the minute.”

Φέτος η ώρα θα αλλάξει στις 25 Οκτωβρίου και ώρα 4:00 τα ξημερώματα της Κυριακής, γυρνώντας τα ρολόγια μία ώρα πίσω, δηλαδή να δείχνουν 3:00.

Η διαφορά μας με την Ελλάδα θα είναι τώρα εννέα ώρες (μπροστά η Αυστραλία).

«Οι Έλληνες, από την αρχαιότητα, έχουμε την αντίληψη ότι ο κόσμος είναι ενιαίος. Μπορούμε να πάρουμε την βάρκα και να πάμε απέναντι»

Το όνομα του Ηλία Παναγιωτακόπουλου είναι γνωστό σε μία μικρή μειοψηφία, εκείνη που ασχολείται με το ελληνικό θέατρο – και ειδικότερα με την πιο πειραματική, πρωτοποριακή εκδοχή του. Ακόμη κι εκείνοι όμως που τον αγνοούν, έχουν δει την μορφή του. Για την ακρίβεια, εκατομμύρια μάτια ανά τον πλανήτη τον έχουν δει επί τω έργω, καθώς ο ηθοποιός και σκηνοθέτης ήταν ένας από την πολυπληθή ομάδα που συμμετείχε στις τελετές έναρξης και λήξης των Ολυμπιακών Αγώνων του 2004 στην Αθήνα. Έντεκα χρόνια μετά, η γιορτή μοιάζει πολύ μακρινή.

Ο Ηλίας Παναγιωτακόπουλος ήρθε από μία πολύ διαφορετική Αθήνα στην Μελβούρνη, προκειμένου να συμμετάσχει, με την ιδιότητα του θεατρικού δημιουργού, στο Directors Lab, ένα θεατρικό πρόγραμμα που περιλήφθηκε στο φετινό πρόγραμμα του Melbourne Festival, φέρνοντας κοντά ανθρώπους του θεάτρου από όλον τον κόσμο. «Με ενδιαφέρουν πάντα αυτές οι συνευρέσεις», λέει ο σκηνοθέτης. «Μέσα από αυτήν την δουλειά συνυπάρχεις με άλλους σκηνοθέτες και έχεις την ευκαιρία να ανταλλάξετε εμπειρίες, να μοιραστείτε ερεθίσματα και πληροφορίες. Είναι μοναδική ευκαιρία να παρουσιάσεις την δουλειά σου σε διεθνές πλαίσιο», λέει.

ΔΙΑΛΟΓΟΣ ΜΕ ΔΗΜΙΟΥΡΓΟΥΣ ΑΠΟ ΟΛΟΝ ΤΟΝ ΚΟΣΜΟ

Συναντηθήκαμε στον προαύλιο χώρο του Πανεπιστημίου της Μελβούρνης, όπου έλαβε χώρα το «πολυσύνθετο, πολυ-δημιουργικό και πολύ έντονο», όπως το περιγράφει, εργαστήριο. Εκεί, κάθε μέρα 40 περίπου δημιουργοί από όλον τον κόσμο – σκηνοθέτες, δραματουργοί, ηθοποιοί κ.ο.κ. – ακολούθησαν για μερικές μέρες ένα σκληρό στρατιωτικό πρόγραμμα.

«Από τις 8 το πρωί μέχρι τις 9 το βράδυ, συμμετείχαμε σε ομάδες εργασίες, άλλες φορές όλοι μαζί, άλλες κατά μόνας, παρουσίαζε ο καθένας την δουλειά του. Κάθε βράδυ βλέπαμε κάποια παράσταση του φεστιβάλ και το επόμενο πρωί την αναλύαμε. Το υλικό μας ήταν οι παραστάσεις που γίνονται εδώ» εξηγεί ο Ηλίας Παναγιωτακόπουλος, ο οποίος μετά από μία γόνιμη θητεία ως ηθοποιός, σε συνεργασία με σκηνοθέτες όπως ο Θωμάς Μοσχόπουλος και ο Γιώργος Λάνθιμος, μεταξύ άλλων, πέρασε ο ίδιος στην άλλη όχθη, δημιουργώντας τον πειραματικό θεατρικό οργανισμό «Urbn Theatr». «Κάποια στιγμή συνειδητοποίησα την ανάγκη να εκφραστούν πολύ συγκεκριμένα πράγματα και να δημιουργήσω τις συνθήκες για να δημιουργηθεί αυτό» τονίζει.

Γύρω από αυτήν την βασική σκέψη αναπτύσσονται οι παραστάσεις του Urbn Theatr, οι οποίες είναι πρωτότυπα έργα, δεν αποτελούν δηλαδή προτάσεις πάνω σε ήδη υπάρχον ρεπερτόριο. Αυτή η εμπειρία τον έχει φέρει σε επαφή με την θεατρική πρωτοπορία ανά τον κόσμο. Άλλωστε, έχει συμμετάσχει στο αντίστοιχο Directors Lab του Lincoln Center της Νέας Υόρκης, ενώ εδώ και λίγο καιρό συνεργάζεται με τον οργανισμό Room One του Λονδίνου, για την δημιουργία ενός ακόμη νέου θεατρικού. Κατά κάποιον τρόπο, λειτουργεί, με άλλα λόγια, ως πρεσβευτής της θεατρικής πρωτοπορίας της Αθήνας, παρά το ότι ο ίδιος αποφεύγει να πει κάτι τέτοιο. «Έχω σαφή ταυτότητα, προτιμά να πει. «’Είμαι Έλληνας και έχω επιλέξει να ζω και να δουλεύω στην Ελλάδα. Αλλά θεωρώ ότι παραδοσιακά οι Έλληνες, από την αρχαιότητα, έχουμε την αντίληψη ότι ο κόσμος είναι ενιαίος. Μπορούμε να πάρουμε την βάρκα και να πάμε απέναντι. Αυτή η κοσμοπολίτικη διάσταση υπάρχει πάντα κι ας χάνεται κατά καιρούς. Κάπου εκεί βρίσκομαι κι εγώ. Με ενδιαφέρει ο διάλογος σε ένα διευρυμένο επίπεδο. Συνεργάζομαι με μεγάλη χαρά με ηθοποιούς που είναι Άγγλοι ή Αμερικανοί, με την ίδια λογική που πήγαινα στο Φεστιβάλ Αθηνών για να δω μία παράσταση του Καστελούτσι. Η γλώσσα του θεάτρου είναι παγκόσμια».

ΤΟ ΘΕΑΤΡΟ ΣΤΟΝ ΚΑΙΡΟ ΤΗΣ ΚΡΙΣΗΣ

Η συμμετοχή ανθρώπων όπως ο Ηλίας Παναγιωτακόπουλος σε διεθνείς συναντήσεις δημιουργών, όπως αυτή που διοργάνωσε το Φεστιβάλ της Μελβούρνης, επιβεβαιώνει με έναν πολύ σαφή τρόπο τον δρόμο που έχει διανύσει το ελληνικό θέατρο. «Στην Αθήνα παράγεται θέατρο πολύ υψηλού επιπέδου», συμφωνεί ο σκηνοθέτης, «κυρίως όσον αφορά το δημιουργικό κομμάτι: ιδέες, σκέψεις, άμεση ανταπόκριση στα ερεθίσματα. Όμως πρέπει να πούμε ότι στην δημιουργία των παραστάσεων υπάρχουν σημαντικές ελλείψεις».

Η αναφορά στην κρίση είναι αναπόφευκτη, όπως και η ερώτηση πώς είναι να δημιουργεί κανείς θέατρο στην σημερινή Ελλάδα. «Κατ’ αρχάς η ερώτηση είναι άλλη: πώς είναι να ζεις στην Ελλάδα σήμερα; Είναι πάρα πολύ δύσκολο» απαντά μόνος του.

«Μετά από πέντε χρόνια μέσα σε μία κατάσταση που ονομάσαμε ‘κρίση’ είναι πολύ δύσκολο να ζεις. Τόσο σε πρακτικό επίπεδο -το πώς βιοπορίζεσαι- όσο και το πώς να είσαι μέρος μίας κοινωνίας που προσπαθεί να βρει τον βηματισμό της, έχοντας μεγάλη ένταση και αφήνοντας χώρο σε λανθάνουσες λύσης όπως η Χρυσή Αυγή. Μέσα σ’ αυτό το πλαίσιο, υπάρχει πολύς δημιουργικός κόσμος που ασφυκτιά. Παλεύουμε να συνεχίσουμε να ελπίζουμε, ενώ δεν υπάρχουν πολλοί λόγοι και αφορμές και ενέσεις δύναμεις για να το καταφέρουμε».

Ο ίδιος, πώς το αντιμετωπίζει όλο αυτό; «Κατ’ αρχάς, αντλώ δύναμη από το περιβάλλον μου. Από την άλλη, στον άνθρωπο υπάρχουν δύο βασικοί δρόμοι: η ελπίδα και ο θάνατος. Είναι έμφυτη διαδικασία η δημιουργία ελπίδας, αλλιώς πεθαίνουμε. Άλλες φορές είναι πιο εύκολο κι άλλες θέλει πιο πολλή δουλειά».

Ως νεόκοπος οργανισμός, το Urbn Theatr σχεδόν δημιουργήθηκε με την κρίση. «Ξεκινήσαμε προτού συνειδητοποιήσουμε για τι κρίση μιλάμε», λέει ο ίδιος ο δημιουργός.

«Άλλωστε, μην ξεχνάμε ότι υπήρχε μία άλλου είδους κρίση για τριάντα χρόνια και αυτό που ζούμε τώρα είναι η πρόσκρουση. Βρισκόμαστε ακόμη στα συντρίμμια και προσπαθούμε να μαζέψουμε τα κομμάτια, να δούμε αν έχουμε όλα τα χέρια και τα πόδι για να δημιουργήσουμε ξανά. Για έναν καλλιτέχνη, αυτά είναι πολύ δυνατά ερεθίσματα». Συμφωνούμε, συζητώντας για αυτήν την αλληγορία της πτώσης, ότι το υψηλότερο σημείο που έφτασε η Ελλάδα ήταν οι Ολυμπιακοί Αγώνες του 2004. «Οι Ολυμπιακοί κατάφεραν μετά από πολλά χρόνια να συγκεντρώσουν το φαντασιακό της μεγάλης πλειοψηφίας των Ελλήνων σε μία δυναμική. Για πολλά χρόνια τα φαντασιακά μας ήταν σε σύγκρουση, ήμασταν διασπασμένοι και για πρώτη φορά συναντηθήκαμε, νιώθαμε ότι αποτελούμε μέρος της ιστορίας, ότι έχουμε ευνοηθεί από την ιστορία και μάς δόθηκε η αφορμή να ανταποδώσουμε κάτι» τονίζει. Ο ίδιος, εκτός από την δουλειά του στις τελετές έναρξης και λήξης, ήταν και εθελοντής.

«Δούλεψα με πολύ πάθος και πολλή χαρά, πιστεύοντας στο δημιουργικό κομμάτι αυτής της ιστορίας. Όσοι δουλέψαμε, παρά το ότι αναγνωρίζαμε ότι υπήρχε ένα ερωτηματικό για πολλά ζητήματα, δώσαμε το 100% των δυνάμεών μας». Δέκα χρόνια αργότερα, το Urban Theatre επανήλθε στους Ολυμπιακούς με το δρώμενο «Volunteer»: «Τοποθετήσαμε έναν ‘εθελοντή’ με μάσκα οξυγόνου σε διάφορα σημεία της Αθήνας, προσπαθώντας να δούμε πώς θα αλληλεπιδράσουν μαζί του οι περαστικοί», περιγράφει ο σκηνοθέτης. «Κάποιοι σταματούσαν και έβγαζαν φωτογραφίες, κάποιοι επιτάχυναν το βήμα και προσπερνούσαν, ρίχνοντας κλεφτές ματιές, αλλά συχνά ένιωθες την συγκίνησή τους. Κανείς δεν έφευγε ανεπηρέαστος».

The Kastellorizian community of Victoria celebrated its 90th year with a successful Gala Dinner Dance on Saturday 17 October, at the Kooyong Lawn Tennis club.

Three generations of Kastellorizians gathered to preserve and reflect the culture of the beautiful Dodecanese island.

Hundreds of members enjoyed a delicious dinner and celebrity ‘wog’ Effie aka Mary Coustas was there to entertain the guests with her side splitting jokes.

The Consul General of Greece in Melbourne, Mrs Christina Simantiraki praised the association’s contribution to the Greek Australian community with a heartfelt speech.

Finally, the President of the Kastellorizian committee Nicholas Lolatgis announced that the Kastellorizian of the Year for 2015 is Mr George Pappas, Chancellor of Victoria University.

Real estate being snapped up as property prices halve since 2009

Russian interest in Greece is increasing as a result of the country’s debt woes, with Forbes suggesting real estate is being snapped up.

Since 2008 some properties prices have fallen by 40 per cent, with luxury homes falling by as much as half.

As a result of the debt, the Greek government has had to increase taxes – including property prices – to stave off loan default by boosting the country’s budget.

Russia has also supplied the country with Greece with a $2.27 gas pipeline

«Άσφαιρη» ισοπαλία παραχώρησε ο ΠΑΟΚ στην Κράσνονταρ (ΠΑΟΚ – Κράσνονταρ 0-0) για την 3η αγωνιστική του 3ου ομίλου του Europa League. Ο «Δικέφαλος» δεν κατάφερε να εκμεταλλευτεί την έδρα του και με την τρίτη ισοπαλία στον όμιλο ήδη έχει χάσει έδαφος στην υπόθεση πρόκριση.

Ο Αστέρας Τρίπολης που εξ αρχής είχε δύσκολη αποστολή στο πλαίσιο του 11ου ομίλου, γνώρισε την ήττα (ΑΠΟΕΛ – Αστέρας 2-1) στο «ΓΣΠ» της Κύπρου από τον ΑΠΟΕΛ και μάλιστα με ανατροπή, αφού η ομάα της Τρίπολης είχε προηγηθεί.

Χωρίς να αντιμετωπίσει ιδιαίτερα προβλήματα, η Ντόρτμουντ πέρασε με νίκη 3-1 επί της Καμπάλα από τη Μπακού, για την 3η αγωνιστική του Europa League. Ετσι, η γερμανική ομάδα βρίσκεται στην πρώτη θέση του 3ου ομίλου με 7 βαθμούς, ενώ ακολουθούν η Κράσνονταρ με 3, ο ΠΑΟΚ με 2 και τελευταία η Καμπάλα (1).

Χατ-τρικ πέτυχε ο Πιερ-Εμρίκ Ομπαμεγιάνγκ (31΄,38΄,72΄), σε όλο το διάστημα του αγώνα έπαιξε ο Σωκράτης Παπασταθόπουλος, ενώ για τους Αζέρους το γκολ της «τιμής» σημείωσε στις καθυστερήσεις (90+3΄) ο Ντοντό.

Μόνο νίκες για Νάπολι, Ραπίντ και Μπράγκα

Η Νάπολι, η Ραπίντ Βιένης και η Μπράγκα είναι οι μοναδικές ομάδες που συνεχίζουν με τρεις νίκες, μετά την ολοκλήρωση της 3ης αγωνιστικής των ομίλων του Europa League. Οι «παρτενοπέι» καθάρισαν μέσα σε 40 λεπτά τον εκτός έδρας αγώνα με τη Μίντιλαντ (3-1), ενώ η Ραπίντ επικράτησε 3-2 της Βικτόρια Πλζεν με τον Θάνο Πέτσο να σημειώνει το τρίτο γκολ.

Η Μπράγκα νίκησε 3-2 τη Μαρσέιγ στην Πορτογαλία, στον πιο συναρπαστικό -έως τώρα- αγώνα της διοργάνωσης, καθώς προηγήθηκε 2-0 μέχρι το 84΄, η «Ολιμπίκ» ισοφάρισε στο 87΄, όμως ο Αλαν σκόραρε στο 88΄ και διαμόρφωσε το τελικό σκορ.

Πολύτιμο βαθμό πήρε η Σπάρτα Πράγας στο Γκελζενκίρχεν, αποσπώντας ισοπαλία 2-2 από τη Σάλκε. Αποτέλεσμα που ουσιαστικά βγάζει τον Αστέρα Τρίπολης εκτός διεκδίκησης πρόκρισης από τον 11ο όμιλο του Europa League. Η ελληνική ομάδα έμεινε στην τελευταία θέση με έναν βαθμό σε τρεις αγώνες, ενώ η Σάλκε έχει 7, η Σπάρτα Πράγας 5 και ο ΑΠΟΕΛ 3, χάρη στη νίκη του 2-1 επί του Αστέρα.

Karlie Pearce-Stevenson had a beautiful personality but was troubled in her teenage years, according to a close friend who welcomed the then-teenager into her Alice Springs home after she fled a family argument.

Jennifer Adams, who lived in Alice Springs until 2006 and met Ms Pearce-Stevenson through mutual friends, said the girl everybody knew as “mouse” stayed with her for a week during 2004 or 2005.

“She just stayed with me as she was fighting with her family. She was a bit of a defiant teenager like a lot of girls that age.”

“She was so lost. [She] always seemed to be struggling.”

Ms Adams could not recall the exact nature of the feud between Ms Pearce-Stevenson and her family, but said it related to “silly stuff.”

Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s mother Colleen Povey, who passed away from illness in 2012, was a “lovely” person, she said.

“[They] just clashed a bit I think. Not [coming] home on time, etcetera.

“She was a beautiful girl though, I’m just so shattered for her that this is the outcome.”

Ms Adams said her friend appeared shy to the outside world, but to close friends she was known as a vibrant, outgoing girl.

“She was very quiet unless you knew her, then she was loud. She had a beautiful personality [but] she also could be a pocket rocket if she was upset.”

Ms Adams is one of many friends and relatives who are grappling with the news that Ms Pearce-Stevenson and her daughter Khandalyce were murdered, perhaps as long ago as 2008, after their bodies were identified by homicide detectives this week.

After searching for Ms Pearce-Stevenson and Khandalyce since 2009, her family were informed on Wednesday that the young mother was in fact the “Angel of Belanglo” – the unidentified woman whose body was discovered by trail bike riders in Belanglo State Forest in 2010.

Khandalyce, who was aged between two and four years old, had also been the victim of a “truly evil” crime, detectives said.

She was identified as the “girl in suitcase”, whose body was discovered by a member of the public alongside the Karoonda Highway near Wynarka on July 14.

Scott Povey, Ms Pearce-Stevenson’s stepfather, said the news confirmed the family’s worst fears.

“We had a lot of Facebook pages and everything else [to find them]. She just disappeared like she did not want to be found but I think we all knew that something wasn’t right,” he told Seven News.

“(I) just miss them so much.

“Some days I’m just numb and other days are, dunno, just empty,”

Ms Adams said she left Alice Springs in 2006 and fell out of touch with the young mother after that.

Police believe Ms Stevenson-Pearce also left Alice Springs between 2006 and 2008, and is thought to have travelled to Darwin, Adelaide and Canberra.

The last reported sighting of the pair was on November 8, 2008, when they were stopped by police while driving down the Stuart Highway near Coober Pedy in South Australia. At the time Ms Pearce-Stevenson was aged 20 and Khandalyce was two.
