Αν και δυσκολεύτηκε ο Παναθηναϊκός πήρε τελικά τη δεύτερη εκτός έδρας νίκη του και την έβδομη συνολικά στο top16 της Ευρωλίγκα, από την Γαλατάσαραϊ με 86-84 στην Κωνσταντινούπολη.

Οι «πράσινοι» ήταν εξαιρετικοί στην επίθεση, όμως έδειξαν αδυναμίες στην άμυνα τις οποίες η τουρκική ομάδα εκμεταλλεύτηκε με αποτέλεσμα το ματς να κριθεί στις ελεύθερες βολές στο τελευταίο λεπτό του αγώνα.

Η ομάδα του Ιβάνοβιτς στρέφει πλέον το ενδιαφέρον της στον αγώνα της επόμενης εβδομάδας με την Αλμπα στο ΟΑΚΑ, που θα καθορίσει και την θέση της στην τελική κατάταξη του 5ου ομίλου.

Στο πρώτο ημίχρονο οι «πράσινοι» έτρεξαν στο ανοικτό γήπεδο, έβγαλαν αιφνιδιασμούς και παράλληλα ήταν εύστοχοι από τα 6,75μ. (4/10 στο α’ μέρος).

Έτσι προηγήθηκαν με 11-18 και 16-25 ( στο 11′). Στη συνέχεια όμως οι παίκτες του Ιβάνοβιτς χαλάρωσαν στην άμυνα και έτσι οι Τούρκοι  με 11-0 προσπέρασαν με 27-25 ενώ το ημίχρονο έληξε 38-43.

Στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο το σκηνικό δεν άλλαξε παρά την καλή παρουσία του Μποχωρίδη αρχικά και έτσι το 41-51 στο 23′ έγινε 59-59 στο 30′.

Στο τελευταίο 10λεπτο ο Παναθηναϊκός με έξι τρίποντα (2 από Γιάνκοβιτς, 2 από Μπλουμς και από ένα Γκιστ και Διαμαντίδης)ξέφυγε με 11 (70-81) τρία λεπτά πριν από το τέλος .

Ωστόσο η Γαλατά δεν κατέθεσε τα «όπλα» και με τους Γιάνγκ (έκανε ό,τι ήθελε απέναντι στον Μπατίστα πετυχαίνοντας προσωπικό ρεκόρ πόντων στην Ευρωλίγκα) έφτασε το ματς στην ισοπαλία. Εκεί χρειάστηκε η ψυχραιμία των «πρασίνων» στις ελεύθερες βολές (οι Τούρκοι είχαν έως τότε 20/24 και στο τέλος έβαλαν 1/4) που χάρισαν τελικά και τη νίκη.

Βαριά ήταν η τιμωρία της ΑΕΚ, από την πειθαρχική επιτροπή της ΕΠΟ, για τα όσα συνέβησαν στον αγώνα Κυπέλλου με τον Ολυμπιακό, στο ΟΑΚΑ, καθώς της επεβλήθη ποινή αφαίρεσης τριών βαθμών από το τρέχον πρωτάθλημα, δύο αγωνιστικές κεκλεισμένων των θυρών και χρηματικό πρόστιμο ύψους 17.000. ευρώ.

Αναλυτικά η ανακοίνωση της ομοσπονδίας:

«Η Πειθαρχική Επιτροπή της ΕΠΟ με την υπ΄ αριθμ. 116/26.03.2015 απόφασή της δέχεται ότι η εγκαλουμένη ΠΑΕ ΑΕΚ τέλεσε τις αποδιδόμενες σ’ αυτή πράξεις και επιβάλλει:

α) Για την 1η πράξη (άναμμα καπνογόνων, καύση πανό) χρηματική ποινή χιλίων (1.000) ευρώ.

β) Για την 2η πράξη (χρησιμοποίηση δεικτών λέιζερ) χρηματική ποινή χιλίων (1.000) ευρώ.

γ) Για την 3η πράξη (ρήψη φωτοβολίδας καμπύλης) χρηματική ποινή δυο χιλιάδων (2.000) ευρώ.

δ) Για την 4η πράξη (είσοδος οπαδών στον αγωνιστικό χώρο-βιαιοπραγίες) αα) Χρηματική ποινή δεκαπέντε χιλιάδων (15.000) ευρώ ββ) ποινή διεξαγωγής αγώνων χωρίς θεατές δυο (2) αγωνιστικών.

ε) Για την 5η πράξη (υπαίτια διακοπή αγώνα Κυπέλλου) αφαίρεση τριών (3) βαθμών από τον πίνακα βαθμολογίας του πρωταθλήματος στο οποίο συμμετέχει.

Δέχεται ότι ο αγώνας Κυπέλλου Ελλάδας ΑΕΚ-Ολυμπιακός στις 11/3 διακόπηκε από υπαιτιότητα της εγκαλουμένης ΠΑΕ και κατακυρώνει αυτόν υπέρ της αντίπαλης ομάδας με τέρματα 0-3.

Ορίζει συνολική χρηματική ποινή δεκαεπτά χιλιάδων (17.000) ευρώ».

He’s 16 years old, outrageously talented, and looks every inch a superstar in the making.

He’s the 16-year-old who is the star player of Manchester United‘s current U18 squad.

And while he was pretty obscure on Thursday morning, he wakes up on Friday being one of the most famous young players in the game.

That’s because Manchester United shared a video of him on their social media channels, showing off some simply astounding skills in nutmegging, wrong-footing, slipping past and generally making it look like he’s a footballing Sherlock Holmes while everyone else on the pitch is Inspector Lestrade. The clip has now gone viral –  unsurprisingly, given that it makes Gribbin look like the genetically-engineered synthesis of George Best, Lionel Messi, Johan Cruyff and Ryan Giggs.

Of course, one clip doesn’t mean much. Just ask a Fulham fan about Bryan Ruiz‘s YouTube highlights versus his day-in-day-out reality.

And you also have to wonder how far these sorts of tricks would get you up against, say, Diego Costa.

But nonetheless, Gribbin looks stupendously good on the ball – no wonder that Louis van Gaal has already earmarked him as one of the next players who’ll be given a run-out in the senior squad when circumstances allow.

Σε έναν σπουδαίο φιλικό αγώνα που έγινε στο «Σταντ ντε Φρανς», η Βραζιλία νίκησε 3-1 τη Γαλλία. Το σκορ άνοιξε για τους γηπεδούχους ο Ραφαέλ Βαράν στο 21′ με κεφαλιά μετά από κόρνερ του Βαλμπουενά. Στη συνέχεια όμως η «Σελεσάο» ήταν καταιγιστική. Στο 40′ ο Οσκαρ ισοφάρισε, στο 57′ ο Νεϊμάρ πέτυχε ένα υπέροχο γκολ και στο 69′ ο Λουϊς Γκουστάβο διαμόρφωσε το τελικό 3-1 υπέρ των «λατίνων».

Θυμίζουμε πως στο ίδιο γήπεδο, οι δύο αντίπαλοι είχαν αναμετρηθεί στον τελικό του Μουντιάλ του 1998, όταν οι «τρικολόρ» είχαν πανηγυρίσει την κατάκτηση του τροπαίου, ενώ η «σελεσάο» είχε ζήσει τον… εφιάλτη του 3-0. Ο κόσμος τους θαυμάζει, τα μικρά παιδιά τους βλέπουν ως είδωλα και οι ίδιοι «πουλούν» την εικόνα τους με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο προς όφελος τους.

Οι αστέρες του παγκοσμίου ποδοσφαίρου αμοίβονται με τεράστια ποσά, που προέρχονται από τα συμβόλαια τους με τις ομάδες και τους χορηγούς. Το «France Football» ετοίμασε την σχετική λίστα με τους 40 πιο ακριβοπληρωμένους ανθρώπους του ποδοσφαίρου (παίκτες και προπονητές) και τα αμύθητα έσοδα τους.

Η κορυφή στη λίστα των ποδοσφαιριστών ανήκε στον Λιονέλ Μέσι για μία ακόμα χρονιά και μάλιστα με ποσό αυξημένο συγκριτικά με το 2013, γεγονός που οφείλεται στο νέο του συμβόλαιο με την Μπαρτσελόνα και τις διαφημίσεις. Παίρνει με λίγα λόγια τον χρόνο 65 εκατ.ευρώ καθώς το νέο συμβόλαιό του με την Μπαρτσελόνα θα τον κάνει πλουσιότερο κατά 36.000.000 ευρώ, το μεγαλύτερο ποσό που έχει λάβει ποτέ ποδοσφαιριστής (δεν υπολογίζονται οι φόροι).

The national team captain feels the mental strength and resilience of the side is there for all to see after they held their own against last year’s World Cup winners.

Skipper Mile Jedinak says unwavering belief was a key factor in the Socceroos’ impressive 2-2 draw with world champions Germany on Thursday morning (AEDT) in Kaiserslautern.

Despite missing a host of regular starters through injury and going a goal down early on, Australia didn’t relent and eventually got their reward to register an eye-catching result against the world’s best.

It was another fearless performance from Ange Postecoglou’s young squad and follows on from their historic Asian Cup triumph on home soil in January.

“We have a great belief in what we’re trying to do,” Jedinak told Fox Sports.

“We’ve been at it now for 18 months and we stick by these principles. We’ve seen the success it’s given us in the Asian Cup and even against some of the sides at the World Cup as well.

“We know it works. It’s a platform that’s taken a little bit of time and we haven’t mastered it but we believe in it and everyone’s pulling in the right direction. It’s great that we can come here and put in a performance like that.”

Jedinak had a mixed night, coughing up possession for Germany’s opener but redeeming himself with a cracking free-kick to put Australia in front early in the second half.

“It felt good off the boot,” Jedinak said of his brilliant strike, which was the history-making 1000th A international goal for the Socceroos.

“I’m happy to be a part of it and happy to chip in with a goal but I’m very proud of my team-mates. Guys travelled in from all over the world and on not a lot of rest but we put that aside and delivered tonight.

“I thought we created a lot of opportunities and maybe we were unlucky to not get a couple more goals. But overall it’s a step in the right direction and something we can all be proud of.”

In a team full of strong contributors, debutant Luke DeVere did a sterling job against Germany’s star-studded attack and rewarded Postecoglou’s faith in including him in the side.

“It was a great honour and thrill to play. I was itching to get out there in any capacity and to be starting was an even bigger thrill,” DeVere said.

Ο Ρον-Ρόμπερτ Τσίλερ πήρε φανέλα βασικού εξαιτίας του τραυματισμού του Μάνουελ Νόιερ, ενώ ο Γιόνας Χέκτορ αγωνίστηκε στην αριστερή πλευρά της αμυντικής γραμμής των “πάντσερ”.

Η Αυστραλία απείλησε στο 14ο λεπτό με τον Νέιθαν Μπερνς, αλλά στο 17ο η Γερμανία άνοιξε το σκορ με προβολή του Μάρκο Ρόις από οριακή θέση, έπειτα από γύρισμα του Σάμι Κεντίρα.

Αυτή εξέλιξη, πάντως, δεν πτόησε τους φιλοξενούμενους, οι οποίοι δημιούργησαν προβλήματα στην κόντρα κι εν τέλει ισοφάρισαν στο 40ό λεπτό με κεφαλιά του Τζέιμς Τροΐσι, ύστερα από σέντρα του Μπερνς.

Ο Λεβ έκανε πιο επιθετική την Γερμανία στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο, όμως η Αυστραλία ανέτρεψε τα δεδομένα με απευθείας εκτέλεση φάουλ του Μάιλ Τζέντινακ στο 50ό λεπτό και λίγο έλειψε να ευνοηθεί εκ νέου από τα σοβαρά αμυντικά λάθη των αντιπάλων.

Τελικά, οκτώ λεπτά μετά από την είσοδό του στον αγωνιστικό χώρο, ο Λούκας Ποντόλσκι εκμεταλλεύθηκε μια πάσα του επίσης προερχόμενου από τον πάγκο Αντρέ Σίρλε και διαμόρφωσε το τελικό 2-2.

Winning is contagious and there is no greater builder of confidence than success – as the Socceroos continue to show.

Twelve months ago Ange Postecoglou’s team was losing pre-World Cup friendlies in London to the likes of Ecuador.

Now, having put up a strong performance in Brazil and won the Asian Cup on home soil, they are capable of going to the home of the world champions, Germany, and taking it right up to the best team on the planet, as they did early on Thursday morning when they came from behind to lead, and then draw, with the Germans.

There was nothing fluky about this 2-2 result and in truth with better finishing the Socceroos could have put the game to bed some time before Lukas Podolksi spared Germany’s blushes with an 81st minute leveller.

Australia almost always (save for those horrific displays against Brazil and France that resulted in 6-0 losses 18 months ago) plays with character and commitment.

It showed its traditional virtues once more this morning  by shrugging off the concession of an early goal to regroup, take the game to the world champions and, for much of this fixture, look the likely winners.

Of course Germany have been going through a rocky period since their stunning success in Brazil and their form in European championship qualifiers has not been what might be expected, with draws against Ireland and a loss to Poland amongst recent results.

And Jogi Low picked an experimental side for this game with a number of fresh faces as he seeks to refine his squad for the Euros next year and the World Cup in 2018.

But that takes nothing away from the merit of Australia’s performance. Whichever side Germany puts out is strong. It is a powerhouse of world football precisely because it has such strength in depth with a number of players who would be starters in many other international teams.

And Postecoglou’s hand was not completely full either. Talisman Tim Cahill was a late withdrawal, while regulars Massimo Luongo and Trent Sainsbury were not in the starting line up either.

Postecoglou received any number of plaudits – justifiably – when he guided the Socceroos to that Asian Cup triumph in Sydney six weeks ago.

His aim was not just to win, but to develop an Australian style; one based on pace, power, pressing, passing and, crucially, self belief. Postecoglou wants to develop a squad where the parts are interchangeable; where any one player can come in and do the job of another without the collective losing any quality or efficiency.

He encourages his teams to compete, but also to play football and back themselves, to go into any match believing that they can win even if they are up against the world champions, as they working this morning.

It’s a template that is working, but one that will require continual refinement as new players come in and old stars depart.

Postecoglou and all those within the camp have been reluctant to rest on their laurels since the Asian Cup, which is now seen as the starting point for what the coach and the country hopes will be a new era of success for a new golden generation.

With the World Cup qualifiers now on the horizon the signsare good. But Postecoglou, more than anyone, will not be content unless there is continuous improvement. He has certainly created the mindset within the squad for Australia to believe it can compete against anyone, including the very best.

The honeymoon period is the time when you and your loved one can do no wrong in each other’s eyes – the time when all mistakes and slip-ups are forgiven.

This is the period in which Australian football finds itself in now with its national team.

Ever since the Asian Cup victory, the football community in Australia have been serenading coach Ange Postecoglou with lavish praise of his side’s revival and victory at the Asian Cup – and rightly so.

However football waits for nobody. Postecoglou knows this more than most. He knows his team must keep improving, must keep evolving and must not rest on its collective laurels.

The problem now – just like when Postecoglou first took over – is the Socceroos are back to there default position as the underdogs, the battlers, the team who have to overcome insurmountable odds to win. Another David and Goliath battle awaits the men in green and gold.

So as Australia prepares face the World Cup-winners Germany, where can they find the sling shot and stone?

First of all, Australia are not expected to deviate from the successful 4-3-3 formation that was used to great effect in the Asian Cup. However, Germany too play a version of the same formation – and they won the World Cup with it.

This was employed to play football at its free flowing best, forward passes from the centre backs was a main stay in the entire Asian Cup and Matt Ryan’s role as a sweeper keeper allowed Australia to recycle the ball across the defence to keep possession.

Against Germany, Australia are without Matthew Sprianovic due to a hamstring injury. Alex Wilkinson, the third choice centre back, will fill the position with Trent Sainsbury. Their role is to keep Australia playing forward with passes to the two full back and the playmakers in midfield.

Speaking of midfield, Socceroos’ captain Mile Jedinak is expected to screen in front of defence, breaking up attacks and laying on passes to the playmakers.

This role in a game against such an attacking and fluid team like Germany is going to be vital if the Socceroos are to gain traction in the match. In defence, Jedinak needs to be at his best, as Toni Kroos looks to play the ball into the channels and to the inside forward of Germany.

The role of the full backs in this game will be vital. They offer Australia the width they need when going forward.

They usually receive the ball first from the two centre backs as to stretch opposition midfields. In attack, it is a must that they are able to play the ball to the playmakers in midfield and also the inside forward in attack.

Any loose balls here will be intercepted by the German pressing game and could spell danger if Germany transition quick.

On the other side, the full backs will also need to be astute when it comes to defending. Germany have an array of attacking weapons including their own full backs. They are tasked with getting forward and pulling the Australian midfield out of position to make space for the inside forward to run into.

As for the central midfielders, Australia have their Asian Cup hero Massimo Luongo under an injury cloud but if cleared he should play his Asian Cup role. He needs to be smart with space and time, the German midfielders will press him when the ball is at his feet.

He will need willing intelligent runs to play the ball to, his role is vital to the way the team recycles the ball and the rest of the team will have to make the field as big as possible for him to succeed.

The other central midfielder, either Mark Milligan or Matt McKay, will be tasked with breaking up the flow of the German midfield passers, getting up and down the pitch supporting all aspects of play and recycling the ball to the wingers or the playmakers.

In attack is where we need to be the most potent, for this game Australia is missing a two of their regular front three from the the Asian Cup, Tim Cahill and Robbie Kruse. Nathan Burns looks the most likely to replace Cahill and Tommy Oar or James Troisi will replace Kruse.

The idea of the two inside forwards is to receive the ball, take it inside and play it to the central striker before making runs to a wide position to cross. Second fold is to link up with the midfield and full back and to take the ball wide and cross it into the middle.

The way Australia plays is to get the central striker to have one-on-one chances with the defenders, whether it be in the air or on the ground. Any slight chances Australia gets they will need to be ready to take them, the German defenders will be physical in the tackle and in the air. With the world’s best goalkeeper Manuel Neuer on duty, in-goal crosses and key passes will need to be accurate.

We all know that Australia have a very tough test ahead, but if the Socceroos stick to the game plan which has served them well, then win, lose or draw progress will have been made.

To test yourself against the best in the world is something that does not come around often and the team must relish the chance to put their game plan into action. Australia beat Germany last time they played and both teams now are in very different stages of development, but if the Socceroos can carry their Asian Cup form into this game then the honeymoon can last a while yet.
