Ένα από τα πιο σημαντικά παιχνίδια της ιστορίας του δίνει ο Παγκύπριος αύριο Τρίτη, 12 Αυγούστου.
Οι «πράσινοι» αντιμετωπίζουν στο Blacktown του Σίδνεϊ, την τοπική ομάδα, για τη φάση των «32» του Κυπέλλου Αυστραλίας. Ο αγώνας θα διεξαχθεί στις 7.30 το βράδυ και θα μεταδοθεί ζωντανά από το ραδιόφωνο του 3ΧΥ.

Η Άρσεναλ επικράτησε με 3-0 της Μάντσεστερ Σίτι στον τελικό του “Γουέμπλεϊ” και κατέκτησε το 13ο Community Shield της ιστορίας της. Τα γκολ για τους “κανονιέρηδες” πέτυχαν οι Καθόρλα, Ράμσεϊ και Ζιρού. Ο Τζόελ Κάμπελ μπήκε αλλαγή στο 86ο λεπτό.
Τον πρώτο τίτλο της χρονιάς πανηγύρισε η Άρσεναλ, επικρατώντας της Μάντσεστερ Σίτι στον τελικό του Community Shield στο “Γουέμπλεϊ” με 3-0. Οι “κανονιέρηδες” ξεκίνησαν με τον καλύτερο δυνατό τρόπο τη σεζόν και οι καινούργιοι παίκτες που αγωνίστηκαν έδειξαν θετικά στοιχεία.
Δυναμικό ξεκίνημα
Το ματς ξεκίνησε πολύ καλά για την ομάδα του Βενγκέρ, η οποία έδειξε να παίρνει από νωρίς το ρόλο του “κυρίαρχου του παιχνιδιού”. Μόλις στο 21ο λεπτό ο Σάντι Καθόρλα με σουτ από το ύψος της μεγάλης περιοχής έγραψε το 1-0, δίνοντας το προβάδισμα στους “κανονιέρηδες” και έβαλε σε σκέψεις τον προπονητή της Σίτι, Μανουέλ Πελεγκρίνι.
Οι “Πολίτες” στα επόμενα λεπτά έδειξαν να θέλουν να “ανέβουν” για να ισοφαρίσουν, κάτι που λίγο έλειψε να κάνουν στο 40ο λεπτό, ξεδιπλώνοντας μια πολύ όμορφη αντεπίθεση.
Ωστόσο, όχι μόνο δεν μπόρεσαν να το κάνουν αλλά αντ’ αυτού οι παίκτες της Άρσεναλ που έκοψαν έβγαλαν γρήγορη αντεπίθεση και ο Άαρον Ράμσεϊ την ολοκλήρωσε με τον καλύτερο τρόπο, στέλνοντας τη μπάλα στα δίχτυα του Βίλι Καμπαγιέρο στο 42′. Ο Ουαλός μέσος συνέχισε από εκεί ακριβώς που το “άφησε” την προηγούμενη σεζόν.
Δεύτερο ημίχρονο, “μια από τα ίδια”
Στην επανάληψη η Σίτι βγήκε με την πρόθεση να πιέσει για να πετύχει το γκολ που θα την ξαναέβαζε στον αγώνα. Σε κάποια σουτ που επιχείρησαν οι “Πολίτες” είδαν τον Στσέσνι να διώχνει τη μπάλα και να δίνει σιγουριά κάτω από τα γκολπόστ της Άρσεναλ.
Στο 61ο λεπτό ο Ζιρού με “κανονιά” έξω από τη μεγάλη περιοχή (η μπάλα κόντραρε σε παίκτη της Σίτι) έγραψε το 3-0 στέλνοντας τη μπάλα στα δίχτυα της εστίας του Βίλι Καμπαγιέρο. Κάπου εκεί το παιχνίδι “τελείωσε”.
Τα επόμενα λεπτά οι δύο ομάδες έδειχναν σαν να περιμένουν το τελευταίο σφύριγμα με τις φάσεις να είναι λιγοστές. Ο Τζόελ Κάμπελ μπήκε ως αλλαγή στο 86′ στη θέση του σκόρερ Άαρον Ράμσεϊ, αλλά δεν πρόλαβε να κάνει πολλά στο διάστημα που αγωνίστηκε.
Το τελικό 3-0 έδωσε στην Άρσεναλ το 13ο Community Shield της ιστορίας της και παράλληλα άφησε αρκετές ελπίδες στους φιλάθλους της για ακόμη μεγαλύτερα πράγματα τη φετινή σεζόν.

Liverpool concluded their preparations for the new campaign with a victory and performance that suggests life without Luis Suarez might not be so daunting.
Inspired the craft and dancing feet of Philippe Coutinho, a player whom Brendan Rodgers refers to as his team’s ‘brain’, Liverpool flattened Borussia Dortmund 4-0 to show they are primed to burst out of the blocks when the real business begins next week.
Southampton will be the opposition in seven days’ time and new Saints boss Ronald Koeman, who was sat in the Anfield Directors’ Box with former Liverpool stalwart Sammy Lee, will have been given plenty to think about ahead of the opening game.
Brendan Rodgers need not fear. If he wondered who would provide Liverpool’s magic after the sale of Luis Suarez, at least he still has ‘David Blaine’.
That, thanks to Daniel Sturridge, is the moniker of Philippe Coutinho. According to the England striker, Coutinho is a magician with a ball at his feet and after watching the Brazilian tear Borussia Dortmund to shreds, Rodgers was only too happy to embrace that theme.
Replacing Suarez like-for-like is something Rodgers admits is impossible but he has an idea of how to keep Liverpool a creative, vibrant, attacking force and — judging by this swaggering display — Coutinho is crucial to that master plan.
Deployed in a central role just behind Sturridge and flanked by Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling, Coutinho was the architect of a friendly victory that sent Liverpool bounding into the new campaign, as he provided the assist for Sturridge’s 10th-minute opener and scored one of his own.
Dejan Lovren — who excelled on his debut following his £20million move from Southampton — and Henderson also found the target but afterwards Rodgers reflected on ‘a successful pre-season’ while reserving a eulogy for Coutinho.
‘He is so gifted and the fans appreciated it because of the level of the opponent,’ said Rodgers. ‘His ability is just magical. His ability to get out of tight situations, his view of the game. That’s his best position too — playing between the lines, he tempts defenders out.
‘You saw that with the ball he played around the corner for the first goal. It’s about sustainability with him now. He’s lit up this country with his quality. We are now going on to a big stage in Champions League and he will have chance to show that there, too.’
Dortmund looked short of condition and presented far less of a challenge without star names Marco Reus, Ilkay Gundogan and Mats Hummels, but that could not detract from Coutinho’s quality.
The weight of his passing, speed of thought and ability to deliver the perfect ball really impressed. It was no wonder that when he was replaced in the 71st minute the Kop gave him a standing ovation.
Liverpool will look to renew his terms during the coming campaign — no problems are envisaged and he still has four years on the deal he signed when arriving from Inter Milan in January 2013 — and Rodgers believes Coutinho is now about to really make his mark.
‘He will show at that (Champions League) level that he is a top player,’ said Rodgers. ‘I see him over the next four or five years becoming a real talent in world football.
Curious to think, then, that Brazil overlooked him for the World Cup. where his guile and invention could have made a difference. Instead, he was forced to spend his summer watching helplessly from afar.
‘I felt anger (at not being selected),’ Coutinho said. ‘Not because I’m selfish, but I could have offered something. I will use this anger and push myself to my limits. I saw how Luis (Suarez) was a maniac in training. At this point, my body and mind feel like clay. I will mould it the way I envision.’
The other high point for Rodgers, who revealed that Lazar Markovic has a tendon problem that threatens to keep him out of next Sunday’s Premier League opener against Southampton, was the way Lovren eased into the centre of Liverpool’s defence.
Liverpool shipped 50 league goals last season but Lovren showed enough to suggest that, of all the signings Rodgers has made, he could be the most crucial.
‘Dejan was just what I’ve been looking for since Jamie Carragher left,’ said Rodgers. ‘He is a dominant No 1 centre half, who reads it well, with good guidance of the back four. His qualities of range of passing too. He was excellent.
‘I’m delighted with the result as they have been one of Europe’s top teams. We got four really good goals and could have had a few more. We’ll be ready (for Southampton). We will have a behind-closed-doors game this week and I’m looking forward to next weekend.’
As well he might if Coutinho is in a similar, spell-binding mood.

Massimiliano Allegri concedes that Juventus have plenty of areas to work on ahead of their defence of the Serie A title.
Sacked by Milan after a torrid first half of the 2013-14 campaign, Allegri was appointed Juve coach after Antonio Conte departed last month, having guided the club to three successive league crowns.
His first game in charge ended in an embarrassing 3-2 friendly defeat to fifth-tier Lucento and Juve looked on course for another reverse on Sunday until two late goals saw them emerge 3-2 victors over an A-League All Stars outfit.
Allegri admitted afterwards that his side were yet to reach their optimum level.
“We made a few too many mistakes on an individual level and not just in defence,” he said.
“It was a good game and a decent workout for the side particularly after the hard work we’ve got through in the last few days.
“There’s still room for improvement. We made a quite a few errors but that’s normal at this stage of our pre-season preparations.
“It’s also to be expected, as the lads had heavy legs from the tough fitness work we’ve been doing in these two days in Sydney.
“We are certainly a while off competitive match tempo, but we are working towards it.”
The Bianconeri icon left the Turin club in 2012 to move to Sydney FC but he has admitted that he would be interested in taking up an off-field role with the Old Lady one day
The former Italy international is currently considering his future after deciding to part company with Sydney FC, the A-League outfit he joined his beloved Bianconeri from in 2012.
Del Piero, who remains Juve’s record appearance-maker and goalscorer, has been linked with a romantic reunion with the Old Lady – but while the 39-year-old says he could yet return to Turin, he will never again don Juve’s No.10 jersey.
“[Going back to Juventus] represents one of the options for my future [after retirement],” Del Piero told Gazzetta dello Sport. “I never say never. It depends on how things go.
“Turin is my home. I am so bound to ‘Planet Juve’, but this is the future.
“I must think about the present. Everything will be decided inside two weeks.”
And Del Piero revealed that he may not yet be ready to hang up his boots quite yet and is currently mulling over offers from MLS and the J-League.
“America and Japan are two concrete and valid ideas,” the playmaker explained. “In order to decide, I must think about many things.
“First of all, Tobias [his son] starts school next year, so he needs stability.
“Then, there are the leagues that start in the summmer, others in October and some in January.”
For now, though, Del Piero is looking forward to lining up against his former club as part of the A-League All-Stars side selected to face Juventus in a friendly on Sunday.
“I’m trying to imagine my excitement, but I still can’t,” the World Cup winner admitted. “It’s strange being on the other side [to Juve].
“But it is also something that makes little sense, as my life is not that of three years ago.
“The fact that it is a friendly help, because there will be no tension.”
Del Piero spent 19 years with Juventus, scoring 290 goals in 705 appearances for the Serie A side.
Alessandro Del Piero says his A-League All Stars will find it difficult to upset Italian champion Juventus on Sunday in a “strange” clash against his former club.
Del Piero, 39, is likely to play his final game in Australia in the ANZ Stadium fixture after spending the past two seasons with A-League side Sydney FC.
Prior to that stint, he starred for Juve over 19 seasons and caught up with some of the current team at a dinner in Sydney on Friday night.
“It is a strange feeling for sure, but until the moment I stand across from my former team-mates in the tunnel, I don’t now what will happen,” All Stars captain Del Piero said on Saturday.
Juventus has a glittering cast of internationals including Italian icons Gianluigi Buffon and Andrea Pirlo and a host of foreign talent such as Frenchmen Paul Pogba and Patrice Evra and Argentinian Carlos Tevez.
Del Piero recalled previously scoring at least one goal against Buffon from a penalty when the goalkeeper played for Parma before joining him at Juventus.
New Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri and Evra, who played in Manchester United’s 5-1 win over the All Stars in Sydney last year, have warned their team to expect a much tougher game than its 8-1 rout of an Indonesian select side last Wednesday.
“Obviously Australian soccer has improved significantly in the last (few) years,” Allegri said.
All Stars coach Josep Gombau said all of his squad would play at some stage and while he had settled on his starting side, he didn’t want to release it publicly.
Del Piero had no illusions about the extent of the task the All Stars faced.
“It’s very hard because at the end of the day, they are better than us because they (have) played with each other for a long time,” Del Piero said.
“We’re a selection and we spend only one week with Josep. He shows us everything we have to do in the game, but one week is very short to have the right combination for good confidence in each other.”
Renowned for his positive approach at Adelaide, Spaniard Gombau stressed the All Stars would embrace that style and not just “park the bus” outside their penalty area.
“For us, it’s a challenge – we need to try to show around the world that the A-League is a good league,” Gombau said.
“…that the level of our football here is great and you can show it in games like this.
“We don’t have the opportunity to play against European teams every week, we just play them once a year and it’s a great opportunity to try and show that there are good players and good coaches.”

Με θετικό πρόσημο θα επιστρέψει ο ΠΑΟΚ από την Αγγλία. Ο «δικέφαλος του Βορρά» πέρασε το τεστ με την ΚΠΡ, επικρατώντας στο «Loftus Road» με σκορ 1-0.
Ο ΠΑΟΚ ήταν καλός αμυντικά σε όλη την διάρκεια του ματς, ενώ «ζωήρεψε» και επιθετικά στο δεύτερο ημίχρονο. Το… άχαστο, που έστειλε στο δοκάρι ο Αθανασιάδης στο 50’, το έκανε γκολ λίγο αργότερα ο Ντιν (67’, αυτογκόλ) κι έτσι η ομάδα του Άγγελου Αναστασιάδη πήρε τη νίκη, στο προτελευταίο της φιλικό προετοιμασίας.
Θερμή ατμόσφαιρα δημιούργησαν στο «Λόφτους Ρόουντ» οι περίπου 200 οπαδοί του ΠΑΟΚ, που βρέθηκαν πίσω από την μία εστία του γηπέδου. Σοβαρός τραυματισμός του Δημήτρη Κωνσταντινίδη. Δεν έχει χάσει ποτέ σε επίσημο ματς στο Νησί ο ΠΑΟΚ (Άρσεναλ και Τότεναμ).
Το ματς:
Αν και μπήκε νωθρά στο ξεκίνημα του ματς, δίνοντας την ευκαιρία στην ΚΠΡ να δημιουργήσει προβλήματα από τα άκρα, ο ΠΑΟΚ βρήκε γρήγορα τα πατήματά του. Οι παίκτες του Αναστασιάδη είχαν γρήγορη κυκλοφορία της μπάλας από την μέση και μπροστά και χάρη σ’αυτήν κατάφεραν να δημιουργήσουν, κυρίως με τον Μακ, προβλήματα στην άμυνα των Λονδρέζων. Από την μεριά της, η ομάδα του Ρέντναπ «μπλόκαρε» και δεν μπορούσε να δημιουργήσει προβλήματα στον Γλύκο.
Εκεί που ο ΠΑΟΚ άρχισε να έχει τον έλεγχο στον χώρο του κέντρου, οι «Ρέιντζερς» πάτησαν γκάζι και ισορρόπησαν το ματς, πριν τους απειλήσει ο αντίπαλος. Οι γηπεδούχοι ανέβασαν τις γραμμές τους και σταδιακά πλησίασαν την εστία του «δικέφαλου του Βορρά», που αμύνθηκε αποτελεσματικά. Ο Αναστασιάδης δοκίμασε να παίξει με αντεπιθέσεις αλλά έλειψε το καθαρό μυαλό στην τελική πάσα, με αποτέλεσμα το ημίχρονο να ολοκληρωθεί χωρίς τέρματα και ιδιαίτερες ευκαιρίες.
Πολύ καλό πρόσωπο είχε ο ΠΑΟΚ στο ξεκίνημα του δευτέρου ημιχρόνου. Οι παίκτες του Αναστασιάδη, σε αντίθεση με το πρώτο ημίχρονο, είχαν καλή εικόνα επιθετικά, απειλώντας τον Γκριν. Μάλιστα, έχασαν τεράστια ευκαιρία στο 50’, όταν ο Αθανασιάδης έστειλε την μπάλα στο δοκάρι μπροστά σε κενή εστία. Ο τραυματισμός του Κωνσταντινίδη, αλλά και οι αλλαγές του Ρέντναπ «πάγωσαν» κάπως τον ρυθμό, με αποτέλεσμα η ΚΠΡ να ισορροπήσει.
Ο «δικέφαλος του Βορρά» κατάφερε να ξαναπάρει τα ηνία και να φτιάξει παιχνίδι. Η είσοδος των Περέιρα και Σαββίδη «βγήκε» στον Αναστασιάδη με το που μπήκαν στο γήπεδο, καθώς συνδυάστηκαν εξαιρετικά και έπειτα από γύρισμα του Αργεντινού ο Ντιν έστειλε τη μπάλα στα δίχτυα της ομάδας του (67’). Η ΚΠΡ αποσυντονίστηκε πλήρως μετά το γκολ και παρότι προσπάθησε να πιέσει, δεν μπόρεσε να δημιουργήσει ρήγματα στην άμυνα του ΠΑΟΚ, που συνέχισε να είναι πιο επικίνδυνος μέχρι και το τελευταίο σφύριγμα του διαιτητή.
Ανακατατάξεις στο ιδιοκτησιακό καθεστώς της Βίκτορι, μετά την απόφαση του «γκρουπ» των γνωστών επιχειρηματιών, Χάρη Σταμούλη, Μανώλη Κώττη και Ρόμπερτ Μπελτέκι, να πουλήσουν το μερίδιο των μετοχών τους, που ανέρχεται στο 35%.
Ο ιδιοκτήτης του Hellas Media Group, Χάρης Σταμούλης, με τον οποίο μίλησα προχθές, σε μια φιλική συνάντηση παρόντος και του Μανώλη Κώττη, της εταιρίας Elco Food, επιβεβαίωσε τις φήμες για την πώληση του 35% των μετοχών, που κατέχει μαζί με τους κυρίους που αναφέρονται πιο πάνω.
Όπως μου είπε χαρακτηριστικά ο Χάρης Σταμούλης, «σε λίγες ημέρες θα δημιουργήσουμε ειδικό site στο διαδίκτυο, όπου θα αναφέρονται λεπτομέρειες για την επικείμενη πώληση των μετοχών μας. Εκεί μπορούν οι ενδιαφερόμενοι αγοραστές να μάθουν όλα όσα χρειάζονται».
Πληροφοριακά, να πούμε ότι το 35% αντιπροσωπεύει αρκετές χιλιάδες μετοχές και αν η τιμή της κάθε μίας, υπολογιστεί στα $2,5 δολάρια, τότε το ζητούμενο ποσό για την πώληση του 35% αναμένεται να ξεπεράσει τα $11 εκ.!!
Σύμφωνα με τον Χάρη Σταμούλη, η απόφαση για την πώληση των μετοχών που κατέχει μαζί με τους Κώττη, Μπελτέκι, είναι καθαρά επιχειρηματική κίνηση και τόνισε ότι θα παραμείνει μέλος και υποστηρικτής της δις πρωταθλήτριας.
Σε ερώτηση αν στόχος της Βίκτορι είναι η κατάκτηση του τίτλου στο νέο πρωτάθλημα, ο Χάρης Σταμούλης απάντησε:
«Ξεκινάμε πάντα με υψηλούς στόχους. Το τι θα προκύψει στη συνέχεια εξαρτάται από πολλούς παράγοντες».
Για την απόκτηση του Κώστα Μανωλά «τρέχει» η Γιουβέντους, η οποία επιθυμεί μέχρι την Δευτέρα να έχει αποκτήσει τον Έλληνα κεντρικό αμυντικό. Οι «μπιανκονέρι» προσφέρουν στον Ολυμπιακό το ποσό των 11 εκατ. ευρώ, παίκτες ως ανταλλάγματα, ενώ πλέον επιστρατεύουν και ποσοστό μεταπώλησης!
Η «Βέκια Σινιόρα» θέλοντας να κάμψει την αντίσταση και τις απαιτήσεις των «ερυθρόλευκων» προσφέρει ποσοστό έως 30% και ευελπιστούν να βρουν την «χρυσή» τομή για να αποκτήσουν τον Έλληνα διεθνή.
