Εθνική ομάδα, που άρεσε μονάχα στο πρώτο μέρος, έφυγε με το 1-1 από το Ελσίνκι κόντρα στη Φινλανδία. Γκολάρα από Καρέλη, απαραίτητη πλέον η νίκη με τη Βόρεια Ιρλανδία.

Ακόμα αναζητεί την παρθενική της νίκη στη Φινλανδία η Εθνική μας ομάδα. Έστω και αν το τελικό 1-1, δεν βάζει σε καμία των περιπτώσεων στο… ψυγείο τα όνειρά μας για την απευθείας πρόκριση στα τελικά του EURO 2016, ο πρώτος και κύριος στόχος που ήταν το τρίποντο, δεν επιτεύχθηκε στο Ελσίνκι.

Ανασκόπηση αγώνα

Με το… καλημέρα του αγώνα, η Φινλανδία προσπάθησε να μας αιφνιδιάσει και να πάρει κεφάλι στο σκορ, αλλά το πλασέ του Τοΐβιο (2′) δεν βρήκε στόχο από καλή θέση. Μετά την “τρικυμία” των πρώτων λεπτών, όπου η μπάλα κυκλοφορούσε δύσκολα και τα “πουλήματα” ήταν αρκετά, η Εθνική μας άρχισε να ισορροπεί και να παίρνει μέτρα στο χορτάρι.

Η προβολή του Κλάους στο 10′ αποτέλεσε το πρώτο ουσιαστικό “καμπανάκι κινδύνου” για την εστία του Μάενπα. Πού να ήξερε τι θα ακολουθούσε στην συνέχεια και συγκεκριμένα στο 24′, όταν η μπάλα στρώθηκε στο αριστερό του Καρέλη και εκείνος με αριστουργηματικό φαλτσαριστό σουτ την έστειλε… συστημένη στην αριστερή γωνία. Το 0-1 ήταν γεγονός στο ντεμπούτο του, με επική γκολάρα και ασφαλώς δικαίωση του Κλάουντιο Ρανιέρι που τον έβαλε στο αρχικό σχήμα.

Οι Φινλανδοί, δεν συνήλθαν ποτέ ουσιαστικά μέχρι τη λήξη του πρώτου μέρους, απείλησαν ελάχιστα την εστία του -έτσι και αλλιώς σταθερού όποτε χρειάστηκε- Καρνέζη, με την Εθνική να έχει μια καλή στιγμή λίγο πριν το τέλος του ημιχρόνου (43′) για το 0-2, όταν οι Τοροσίδης – Μαυρίας – Μανιάτης συνεργάστηκαν πολύ καλά, αλλά το βολ πλανέ του τελευταίου δεν βρήκε στόχο.

Οι διεθνείς λες και ξέχασαν να βγουν από τα αποδυτήρια στο ξεκίνημα της επανάληψης, με αποτέλεσμα η ισοφάριση στο 55′ με το μονοκόμματο σουτ του Χούρμε να φαντάζει δίκαιο. Λίγα λεπτά πριν (48′), οι γηπεδούχοι είχαν προειδοποιήσει με τον Ρινγκ, το σουτ του οποίου βρήκε σε ετοιμότητα τον Καρνέζη. Όλα πλέον ξεκινούσαν από την αρχή και οι διεθνείς έπρεπε να χειριστούν μια δύσκολη κατάσταση.

Η φάση του αγώνα

Η γκολάρα του Καρέλη στο ντεμπούτο του ήταν αναμφίβολα το highlight της αναμέτρησης. Δεν ήταν απλά ότι ήταν το πρώτο του ματς με την Ανδρών, αλλά πέτυχε ένα θαυμάσιο τέρμα με αριστερό φαλτσαριστό σουτ από πλάγια θέση στην απέναντι γωνία. Πραγματικά υπέροχο…

Ο διαιτητής

Ο Νταβίδ Φερνάντεθ Μπορμπαλάν, δεν ήταν καλός στο πρώτο μέρος, χάνοντας αρκετές φάσεις και έκανε λάθη και στον πειθαρχικό έλεγχο, αλλά στο δεύτερο μέρος είχε σαφώς καλύτερα σφυρίγματα. Προσπάθησε να κόψει το καρπούζι στη μέση και να μην αδικήσει κάποια από τις δυο ομάδες, επομένως δεν μπορεί να έχει παράπονα κάποια από τις δυο ομάδες.

Ο πολυτιμότερος παίκτης της αναμέτρησης

Ο Καρέλης ήταν πολύ καλός στα 80 λεπτά που αγωνίστηκε. Ειδικά στο πρώτο μέρος, πέρα από το γκολ που πέτυχε, ήταν δραστήριος, είχε καλές κινήσεις, έδωσε μάχες, δεν έδειξε ψαρωμένος και γενικά έκανε μια άκρως θετική εμφάνιση, που αποτελεί παρακαταθήκη για το μέλλον. Ο άσος του Παναθηναϊκού έχει μέλλον και η Εθνική ομάδα μπορεί να ποντάρει πάνω του.

Μας άρεσε

Υπέροχη η ατμόσφαιρα στο γήπεδο. Άκρως πολιτισμένος ο κόσμος, με τους Φινλανδούς να στηρίζουν την ομάδα σε όλη την διάρκεια του 90λεπτου, γεμίζοντας και τις εξέδρες, ενώ και οι δικοί μας ήταν συνεχώς στο πλάι των διεθνών. Πραγματικά χαίρεσαι να βλέπεις παιχνίδια σε τέτοιες συνθήκες. Φωνή, παλμός, αλλά δεν ξέφυγε κανείς.

Δεν μας άρεσε

Η εικόνα της Ελλάδας στην επανάληψη δεν ήταν καθόλου καλή. Οι παίκτες λες και έχασαν τον προσανατολισμό τους, φάνηκαν κουρασμένοι, δεν είχαν τρεξίματα και οι γηπεδούχοι ήταν σαφώς καλύτεροι και δικαιολογημένα ισοφάρισαν το ματς. Το δεύτερο μέρος θα πρέπει να αποτελέσει παράδειγμα προς αποφυγή για τα επόμενα παιχνίδια.

ΣΥΣΤΗΜΑ ΠΡΟΚΡΙΣΗΣ

Στην τελική φάση που θα διεξαχθεί στη Γαλλία (10/6-10/7 2016) θα συμμετάσχουν 24 ομάδες. Οι δύο πρώτες των εννέα ομίλων προκρίνονται απευθείας, μαζί με την καλύτερη τρίτη. Οι υπόλοιπες οκτώ ομάδες που θα κατακτήσουν την τρίτη θέση στον όμιλό τους, θα σχηματίσουν τέσσερα ζευγάρια που θα αναμετρηθούν σε αγώνες πλέι οφ (εντός-εκτός). Χωρίς προκριματικούς θα συμμετάσχει και η διοργανώτρια, Γαλλία.

 Spanish superstar David Villa took just 15 minutes to put his stamp on the A-League, earning Melbourne City an opening round 1-1 draw with a stunning equaliser against Sydney FC.

Villa started the first match of his ten-game stint with City on the bench, but came on in the 48th minute and showed the Sydney Football Stadium crowd his class just past the hour.

Receiving the ball on the edge of the area, he steadied and drilled an unstoppable right-foot shot past Sydney goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic.

Prior to Villa’s stunner, Sydney FC youngster Corey Gameiro threatened to hog the spotlight with a show-stealing strike of his own.

Gameiro, who scored 12 goals in as many pre-season games for Sydney, curled a wonderful right foot shot into the net from the left edge of the area.

Villa – whose introduction sparked applause from both sets of supporters in the 25,525 strong crowd – showed some nice touches, but was otherwise well contained.

It was his first game since scoring for Spain against Australia in the World Cup three-and-a-half months ago.

Sydney almost pinched the game in the 86th minute when Terry Antonis rocked the crossbar with a spectacular 30 metre drive and substitute Max Burgess fired wide after pouncing on the loose ball.

A Sydney winner would have been harsh on City, who bossed the game in the first half and had a good share of play in the second.

City, who were missing marquee international Robert Koren through injury, but started the game with four new signings, should have been ahead by the break.

They created most of the noteworthy chances, while hustling Sydney’s defence into errors, as the visitors pushed high up the field.

Lively James Brown, who made way for Villa just after half-time, crashed a shot against the crossbar inside the first five minutes.

Janjetovic saved a free kick from Aaron Mooy and Sydney were fortunate to remain on level terms after an awful error from Sasa Ognenovski.

The former Socceroo defender took a horrid air swing at the ball which allowed Mate Dugandzic a clear run at goal, only for the City forward to spray his shot wide.

Dugandzic had another attempt pushed away by Janjetovic, while Sydney struggled to create meaningful chances.

Gameiro had an early shot saved by Andrew Redmayne and Nick Carle wastefully blazed over the bar following a good run and cut back from Sydney captain Alex Brosque.

Χωρίς περιθώρια για νέες απώλειες η Εθνική ομάδα αναζητά μόνο πρώτο της τρίποντο στα προκριματικά του EURO 2016, απέναντι στη Φινλανδία στο Ολυμπιακό Στάδιο του Ελσίνκι.

Ο Κλαούντιο Ρανιέρι και οι διεθνείς μετά την ήττα στην πρεμιέρα από τη Ρουμανία γνωρίζουν καλά ότι πρέπει να φύγουν με το θετικό αποτέλεσμα, έχοντας μάλιστα πλέον στον πάγκο και τον Γιώργο Καραγκούνη, που θα είναι στο πλευρό του ομοσπονδιακού τεχνικού.

Στα αγωνιστικά πλάνα του Ιταλού: Κάτω από τα δοκάρια αναμένεται να βρεθεί ο Ορέστης Καρνέζης. Στο κέντρο της άμυνας δύσκολα θα αλλάξει το δίδυμο των Σωκράτη Παπασταθόπουλου και Κώστα Μανωλά. Στα πλάγια αυτής θα είναι ο Βασιλής Τοροσίδης που ξεπέρασε το πρόβλημα τραυματισμού του, ενώ ο Ιταλός τεχνικός σκέφτεται τη λύση του Κώστα Σταφυλίδη για το άλλο άκρο.

Η τριάδα του κέντρου θα αποτελείται από τους Γιάννη Μανιάτη, Ανδρέα Σάμαρη και Παναγιώτη Ταχτσίδη ενώ μπροστά τους θα είναι στα πλάγια οι Δημήτρης Σαλπιγγίδης και Γιώργος Σαμαράς με τον Κώστα Μήτρογλου στην κορυφή αυτής.

Την αποστολή συμπληρώνουν οι Καπίνο, Γλύκος, Αθανασιάδης, Σκόνδρας, Γιαννούλης, Μόρας, Βύντρα, Τζιόλης, Μάνταλος, Μαυρίας, Καρέλης και Φορτούνης.

Από την πλευρά τους, οι γηπεδούχοι θα παίξουν με τους Μάενπα, Αρκιβούο, Μϊσάιντερ, Τοίβιο, Ουρόνεν, Ρινγκ, Ταίνι (ή Σπαρβ), Χετεμάι, Ερεμένκο, Ρίσκι (Χαμαλάινεν) και Πούκι.

Διαιτητής της αναμέτρησης αναμένεται να είναι ο Νταβίντ Μπορμπαλάν, με βοηθούς τους Καμπανέρο Μαρτίνεθ και Κανέλο Πριέτο.

Τέλος να σημειωθεί ότι την τελευταία φορά που η Εθνική ομάδα έπαιξε στο Ελσίνκι, πριν από περίπου 13 χρόνια δηλαδή (Τετάρτη 5 Σεπτεμβρίου 2001), γνώρισε βαριά ήττα με 5-1 για τα προκριματικά του Παγκοσμίου Κυπέλλου 2002.

Τότε ήταν το πρώτο παιχνίδι με τον Ότο Ρεχάγκελ ομοσπονδιακό προπονητή στην ελληνική ομάδα, ευτυχώς όμως το… δείγμα δεν υπήρξε αντιπροσωπευτικό για το τι θα επακολουθούσε επί των ημερών του «Χερ Ότο».

MITCHELL Duke has stolen an injury-time winner as the Mariners started their A-League season with a 1-0 victory over derby rivals Newcastle Jets at Central Coast Stadium in Gosford tonight.  

Fans appeared resigned to a frustrating draw before Duke outmuscled Taylor Regan on the far post to poke home a long-range free kick from Glen Trifiro in the 91st minute.

The Jets appealed for a foul after Regan went down but their cries were ignored.

It ruined an otherwise bright start for the Jets under new coach Phil Stubbins.

They were tipped in some quarters to take the wooden spoon after the loss of Emile Heskey, Josh Brillante, Ruben Zadkovich and golden boot Adam Taggart.

Northern Irishman Jonny Steele, who was disappointing in the first half, had a golden opportunity for the Jets in the 57th minute when one-on-one with an out-of-position Liam Reddy, but his chipped shot was too strong.

Newcastle went close again two minutes later when Joel Griffiths forced a save from Reddy.

The Mariners, who lifted their game in the second half, had chances when an unmarked Matt Sim shot straight at Mark Birighitti in the 66th minute and skipper John Hutchinson was just wide with a well-struck strike in the 74th.

In the first half, the Jets were impressive and found the back of the net in the 36th minute through Ecuadorean striker Edson Montano, but it was disallowed correctly for off-side.

Montano was wide with a strike in the 20th minute and James Virgili had a promising shot cleared with a Nick Montgomery header in the 44th minute in a half where the visitors earned several set-piece opportunities.

But the Mariners also had their moments.

Exciting Senegalese striker Malick Mane was a regular threat and went closest for the Mariners in the 33rd minute when central defender Sam Gallagher cleared his shot off the line.

Mane had two other shots blocked and looked the most likely scorer from either side.

Korean Seung-yong Kim also threatened the Jets’ goal, missing narrowly with a curling free kick from the edge of the area in the 26th minute.

Kim came in for plenty of attention and was on the end of a yellow-carded challenge from Regan in the ninth minute and elbow from Steele in the 56th.

H ήττα της Κύπρου και οι δυσκολίες που συνάντησαν τα φαβορί κυριάρχησαν στην 2η αγωνιστική των προκριματικών του Euro 2016.

Η Κύπρος έχασε με 2 – 1 από το Ισραήλ παρά τη μεγάλη εκτός έδρας νίκη επί της Βοσνίας, ενώ η Ολλανδία λαχτάρησε για να πάρει το 3 – 1 επί του Καζακστάν και η Ιταλία νίκησε δύσκολα με 2 – 1 το Αζερμπαϊτζάν.

Εντυπωσιακή νίκη με «εξάρα» στην Ανδόρα πέτυχε το Βέλγιο.

Η Λαμία επικράτησε εντός έδρας με 1-0 του Αγροτικού Αστέρα στην πρεμιέρα του 2ου ομίλου της Football League (Β’ Εθνική). Το μοναδικό τέρμα της αναμέτρησης σημείωσε ο Ρέπετσας στο 82′  αλλά στην συνέχεια αποβλήθηκε αφού ανέβηκε στην εξέδρα για να πανηγυρίσει το τέρμα που πέτυχε με αποτέλεσμα να δεχτεί τη δεύτερη κίτρινη κάρτα.

Οι γηπεδούχοι, μπορεί να είχαν τον κόσμο στο πλευρό τους, αλλά δυσκολεύτηκαν να πάρουν τους τρεις βαθμούς της νίκης καθώς απέναντί τους είχαν έναν αρκετά αξιόμαχο αντίπαλο, ο οποίος είχε κλείσει καλά τα μετόπισθέν του και δεν έδωσε πολλά δικαιώματα.

Τελικά, η ομάδα του Μπάμπη Τεννέ κατάφερε να πάρει το ροζ φύλλο αγώνα χάρη στο γκολ του Ρεπετσά οκτώ λεπτά πριν το τέλος.

Η ομάδα του Μπάμπη Τεννέ είχε την υπεροχή στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος του ματς, με την πρώτη σημαντική απειλή να έρχεται στο 21’, όταν ο Κώτσιας απομάκρυνε πάνω στη γραμμή το σουτ του Νεόφυτου σε άδεια εστία.

Ο Απόλλωνας «λύγισε» τον Φωστήρα

Μία κεφαλιά του Κοτσώνη στο 87′ αποδείχτηκε αρκετή για τον Απόλλωνα ούτως ώστε να νικήσει 1-0 τον Φωστήρα στη Ριζούπολη και να μπει ιδανικά στο πρωτάθλημα του Νότιου Όμιλου της Football League.

Στο παιχνίδι της «Ριζούπολης» η «ελαφρά ταξιαρχία» ήταν εκείνη που είχε την υπεροχή στο μεγαλύτερο μέρος του αγώνα. Δημιούργησε κάποιες ευκαιρίες, αλλά ο Γκέκας ήταν ξανά σε καλή μέρα, όπως και στο παιχνίδι του κυπέλλου με τον Πανιώνιο.

Οι φιλοξενούμενοι δεν ήταν επικίνδυνοι επιθετικά, ενώ στάθηκαν άτυχοι όταν ένας από τους καλύτερους παίκτες τους τραυματίστηκε και έγινε αναγκαστική αλλαγή. Ο λόγος για τον Σακελλαρίου, ο οποίος έκανε ντεμπούτο στη δεύτερη θητεία του στον Φωστήρα.

Τελικά το γκολ ήρθε από κόρνερ του Κυργιάκου και κεφαλιά του Κοτσώνη. Υπήρξαν έντονες διαμαρτυρίες για επιθετικό φάουλ στη συγκεκριμένη φάση και αυτός ήταν ο λόγος για τον οποίο αποβλήθηκε ο Βαζέχα. Ωστόσο, δεν άλλαξε τίποτα ως το τέλος, με αποτέλεσμα οι γηπεδούχοι να πανηγυρίσουν τη νίκη.

There was no way through for Ange Postecoglou’s men in a friendly played in tough conditions as preparation for the upcoming Asian Cup

Australia were held to a dour 0-0 draw by the United Arab Emirates at a hot and humid Mohammed Bin Zayed Stadium on Friday.

In a match of few clear-cut chances, the Socceroos struggled to mount any serious pressure in the attacking third but coach Ange Postecoglou will be encouraged by an improved defensive showing.

The Alex Wilkinson-Trent Sainsbury partnership in the heart of the defence performed well, ensuring the Socceroos kept their first clean sheet in nine matches.

Another bright spot was Robbie Kruse’s long-awaited comeback from a knee injury, getting through 60 minutes and showing some encouraging signs to suggest he will – as expected – be a key player come January’s Asian Cup.

Postecoglou threw up a surprise before kick-off, leaving Tim Cahill on the bench and handing a debut to Sydney FC attacker Bernie Ibini up front.

But it was Mathew Leckie who had the first chance inside two minutes, out-pacing Mohamed Ahmad to reach Mile Jedinak’s lofted ball but his subsequent effort was wide of the mark.

The searing heat, which nudged 35 degrees in Abu Dhabi, contributed to a slow tempo early on with the hosts content to play at almost a walking pace at times.

The Socceroos managed to get into several promising areas in and around the UAE box but were often let down by the final pass.

After being largely untroubled for the first 25 minutes, the visitors had Wilkinson to thank for denying UAE the opener.

Ali Ahmed Mabkhout sprung the offside trap and raced clear on goal, dinking the ball over goalkeeper Matt Ryan but Wilkinson was on the line to head over the crossbar to safety.

Australia though finished the half in the ascendency and almost took a lead into the break after a fantastic set piece routine.

Mark Milligan raced onto Jedinak’s chipped free-kick – after starting the run next to his skipper – but his glancing header went just wide of the post.

Leckie managed to test Ali Khaseif early in the second half after being freed up on the edge of the box by some nice build-up play from Milligan and Massimo Luongo, but his tame shot was easily saved.

The tiring Socceroos seemed to find a second wind with the introduction of substitutes James Troisi and Brad Smith on the hour mark.

Soon after Milligan spotted Leckie’s incisive run in behind the UAE defence, picking the Ingolstadt man out with an inch-perfect pass but his first-time shot was well saved by Khaseif.

Confusion in the UAE box almost saw Ibini cap his debut with a goal but he couldn’t get significant connection on his snap-shot from just eight yards out.

Australia’s all-time leading goal-scorer Cahill came on for the last 15 minutes and had a trademark headed chance which sailed before Sainsbury squandered a gilt-edged chance at the death.

A corner was headed towards goal by Cahill, finding Sainsbury just a couple of yards out but his flick went up over the bar to ensure the match would finish goal-less.

Besart Berisha grabbed a goal and assist on his Melbourne Victory A-League debut as they opened the 2014-15 season with a thumping 4-1 win over the Western Sydney Wanderers on Friday night.

The Victory exploited the Wanderers’ weary legs in front of 30,083 spectators at Docklands after the Parramatta club endured a gruelling preseason in their fairytale run to the Asian Champions League final.

The Melbourne side’s composure on the ball throughout the clash and presence of Berisha up front showed why the Victory are Premier’s Plate favourites this season.

The Wanderers looked a shadow of the side that has swept all before them in Asia as Melbourne Victory’s debutant defender Matthieu Delpierre opened the scoring in the eighth minute with a classy volley from a Gui Finkler free-kick.

A handball in the box then allowed Berisha to slot home from the penalty spot, prompting a stern celebration as he chest-thumped the crest of his new club.

Lovely footwork and close control from Kosta Barbarouses saw the forward’s saved shot fall to Leigh Broxham, who lashed home the rebound to put the Victory 3-0 up inside 28 minutes.

Mark Bridge pulled one back for the Wanderers four minutes before half-time with a thumping finish from a long ball into the box.

But any hopes of a comeback were snuffed out as Berisha threaded through an expertly weighted through-ball to Archie Thompson, who clinically finished past the despairing Ante Covic.

In doing so, Thompson became the only player in the history of the A-League to score a goal in each of the domestic competition’s first 10 seasons.

The Wanderers had a chance to score a second goal as Vitor Saba broke down the left before crossing for Brendon Santalab, but the forward could not produce a finish.

The Victory probed the Wanderers’ defence through the remainder of the second stanza but could not fashion a fifth goal.

Broxham had a chance late on to score his team’s fifth goal, but his double strike was twice blocked out by desperate defence.

As the Socceroos squad has been together for some time now, it’s time for Ange Postecoglou’s boys to start showing some consistency. The UAE and Qatar friendlies will be the best chance to show the team is working as a unit.

In the early hours of the morning, Ange Postecoglou’s boys will take on a vastly different and much more improved United Arab Emirates (UAE).

It’ll be the best practice for the Asian Cup, as the UAE has also qualified and will give Socceroos coach Postecoglou a better indication of what to expect in a few months’ time.

The team has to contend with the country’s intense heat, but know that their opponents who come charged and ready, have also come off the back of four straight losses.

Sadly the Socceroos did suffer a double injury blow on Thursday, with Tommy Oar and Chris Herd ruled out, but it would have likely paved the way for Robbie Kruse and Ivan Franjic to make their returns to the national side.

Herd is tipped to make a return on the Qatar friendly on Wednesday (AEST).

Postecoglou knows all eyes will be on these matches to show just how good the Socceroos can be in January.

His recent track record hasn’t been very impressive, as the Socceroos have conceded 13 goals in the past five matches.

Bleeding goals is largely thanks to the fact the team has been facing some of the world’s best and that Postecoglou is still finding his best formation.

In recent months he has chopped and changed the backline, working to fit newer and less experienced Socceroos into the mix.

The technique is in line with Postecoglou’s philosophy, of nurturing talent to make his team selection not so reliant on star players.

“We’re still developing the type of football we want to play and we’ve seen progress in all areas towards that but we’re nowhere near the finished product,” he said this week.

“We look a bit deeper than (the defensive record) and it’s not one aspect of our game that is more concerning or less concerning.

“Do we like conceding goals? No. Bit on the flip side of that is we like scoring them.

“As long as we’re scoring more than the opposition, we’ll be going okay.”

The UAE match will be the best marker of the kind of opposition they’ll be facing at the Asian Cup, as they have a big chance to go all the way and are considered a dark horse in the competition.

Their next opponent, Qatar isn’t on the same level, but is a team that must be beaten by those that are.
