It’s a very important game for us. It’s a great challenge and the good thing about this group is that we really lift ourselves for what we consider the big games. We haven’t got to the levels of last season for many reasons, but this is a special game and a special competition for us and I’m very confident that the great competitors our team has will rise to the standards of what is an outstanding Real Madrid team.

It’s still going to be a very difficult game for us. They are a squad full of top-class players. Of course, Ronaldo is a special talent. He’s arguably the best player in the world at the moment and his evolution from being a soloist who scores goals to being a goalscorer is there to see. His record is incredible. We have to make a plan for our team first to ensure that we cause Real Madrid problems, and then of course you have to prepare yourself for the quality of players they have.

Your home games you really look at as opportunities to pick up points. We aren’t playing as well as we have done. At the moment it’s been that character and spirit that has been allowing us to win games. Tomorrow we are going to need that, plus the quality of our football, and if we can do that at home then it is another step towards qualifying.

Given the size of the two clubs it’s a bit strange they’ve not played many official games, but you’re going to see everything that is good about football. I think you are going to see a spectacular encounter, a really good game full of excellent football between two great sides. It’s going to be very high tempo and dynamic and we’ll be doing our best to try to get three points.

I’d like to think that our tactics and our system, our philosophy of football, are pretty much the same whether we’re home or away. We try to play with the same competitive spirit, try to control the ball and use our quality.

Our idea is to put out as competitive a side as possible, and that’s how we try to set up in every game. It’s very important that we have some key players that can play in different positions. For example at the weekend, in the absence of Bale, we had James in that position; similarly Isco managed to show his quality when playing on the left. We have the quality to interchange players in key positions.

All I can tell you is that we are working hard to get [Bale] fit. We know he won’t be available for tomorrow night or for Saturday’s game [against FC Barcelona], but we are trying to get him recuperated as soon as possible. The reason he travelled to Valencia [Levante] was we didn’t think it was anything too much to worry about, maybe just a slight strain due to overuse of a particular muscle. It was only when he had a scan that we realised the situation.

Η Σαχτάρ Ντόνετσκ κατέρριψε το ρεκόρ σκοραρίσματος στο πρώτο ημίχρονο, στην Ιστορία της διοργάνωσης. Ποτέ άλλοτε δεν είχε κατορθώσει κάποια ομάδα να πετύχει έξι γκολ στο πρώτο 45λεπτο, όπως έκανε απόψε η Σαχτάρ επί της ΜΠΑΤΕ Μπορίσοφ. Επίσης, έξι φορές εκτός έδρας σε ένα ημίχρονο (στο β΄) είχε σκοράρει μόνο η Λιόν στο 7-0 επό της Ντιναμό Ζάγκρεμπ το 2011.

A furious Graham Arnold has slammed World Cup referee Ben Williams after his Sydney FC side’s exit from the FFA Cup to Adelaide United on Tuesday night.

Two goals from Bruce Djite sealed a 3-1 win in extra time to book a semi-final spot after the Sky Blues had central defender Nikola Petkovic sent off for a high tackle on Fabio Ferreira three minutes from time.

Arnold labelled the decision an “embarrassment” to a TV camera from the sideline during the game after Williams decided to stop the fixture and only brandish the red card after an Adelaide attack had broken down.

“I feel for the fans and the viewers and most of all I feel sorry for the players,” Arnold said.

“I made my feelings known in the emotion of the game.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen a red card given after play on … they both get up and chased the ball.”

Adelaide coach Josep Gombau refused to comment on the performance of the officials but said Fabio had a “large contusion” on his inner thigh following the incident.

Arnold said the incident effectively determined the result of the match.

“I am proud of the effort … I wasn’t too happy with the first half but we dominated after … we would have won the game in 90 minutes with 11 men,” Arnold said.

Sydney will appeal to the FFA match review panel (MRP) over the red card with the Serbian stopper set to miss Friday’s A-League clash with Brisbane on Friday if the decision is upheld.

Arnold made seven changes from the side that beat Western Sydney Wanderers on Saturday including Sasa Ognenovski who was suspended just six hours before the game by the MRP after his swipe to the back of the head on Vitor Saba during that game.

The decision went unpunished at the time and Arnold hopes the club’s appeal will be heard and acted upon as swiftly as Ognenovski’s fate was decided.

“They got together quickly to suspend Sasa … we’ve got a game on Friday and you’d hope if they overturn it they’d do it quickly,” he said.

Gombau said he was pleased with his side’s performance but played down their positive start to the season which has seen them take four points from their first two A-League games and reach the last four stage of the FFA Cup.

“It’s early days. It’s not how you start it’s how you finish,” he said.

FC Bayern München assumed a commanding position in UEFA Champions League Group E with a comprehensive 7-1 win at AS Roma.

Arjen Robben, Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski and Robben again gave Bayern an unassailable lead inside half an hour with Thomas Müller’s penalty compounding the Serie A side’s woes five minutes later. Gervinho netted a consolation in the second half, but further goals from Franck Ribéry and Xherdan Shaqiri completed Roma heaviest ever European – and Bayern’s biggest continental away win.

Both sides lined up with attack-minded starting XIs, although Bayern coach Josep Guardiola had a particular trick in mind, giving Robben a deep role until enough time had passed for the Roma defence to forget about him. Then, the Dutchman popped up inside the box and delivered his party piece, cutting past Ashley Cole onto his deadly left foot and curling his shot unstoppably past Morgan De Sanctis into the far corner.

Gervinho was denied by Manuel Neuer as Roma nearly levelled instantly, but it then became a monologue. Bayern sliced through the Giallorossi defence with Götze taking a few stepovers before exchanging passes with Thomas Müller and slotting a finish low past De Sanctis.

De Sanctis was fishing the ball out of his net again within minutes when Lewandowski was afforded too much room to head in Juan Bernat’s inch-perfect cross, and the game was practically over as a contest on the half-hour mark when Lewandowski teed up Robben, who again lost his marker, Cole, and beat De Sanctis, this time inside his near post.

Worse was to come for Roma when David Alaba’s low cross struck Kostas Manolas’ arm and a penalty was awarded. Only 35 minutes had been played, and Müller stroked in Bayern’s fifth from the penalty spot.

Gervinho struck the post and substitute Alessandro Florenzi was denied by Neuer as Roma provided a reaction of sorts early in the second half. Neuer thwarted Roma’s Ivory Coast forward again before having to accept defeat from a close-range header as Gervinho got his and Roma’s consolation.

Ribéry then added a sixth for Bayern, lobbing De Sanctis, before Shaqiri supplied the finishing touch as Roma fell to a familiar result – 7-1, the same margin as their heaviest away defeat, at Manchester United FC in 2007.

FC Barcelona produced their performance of the season to beat AFC Ajax 3-1 and keep the pressure on Group F leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Neymar and Lionel Messi took the game away from the Dutch champions in a 17-minute first-half burst. From the first minute Luis Enrique’s side played with zip and purpose. Ajax, given a four-goal beating the last time they played at Camp Nou, worked with intensity and intelligence to contain the threat but their being breached was just a matter of time.

When it came, the opener carried all the ‘Barça’ hallmarks. Gerard Piqué began the move and the ball fizzed between Ivan Rakitić, Pedro Rodríguez and Messi before his deft pass gave his Brazilian team-mate a sight of goal. Using the instep of his right boot Neymar curved a fabulous drive beyond Jasper Cillessen.

Next Marc Barta’s laser-guided delivery helped set up Messi who scooped over – but his moment would arrive. Niki Zimling, aiming to find Lucas Andersen, had his pass intercepted by Javier Mascherano. He found Andrés Iniesta who executed the pass of the night and despite Cillessen touching Messi’s finish it became his 69th goal in this competition, tied with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Kudos to Ajax. Under siege, lacking key players and gasping for oxygen, they tried to play. Combination football; flat-out efforts to mark Messi via a tag-team of Niklas Moisander, Zimling, Nick Viergever and Davy Klaassen. Valiantly though they worked, Messi has been given “total freedom” by his coach and he exploited it. Another combination between Bartra, Pedro and Messi left Pedro firing a fierce diagonal shot off Cillessen’s post.

It meant Ajax were still in it and that impression was cemented when Cillessen conjured a prodigious save one-on-one to touch Iniesta’s chip past the upright. Ajax couldn’t allow the gift of that fingertip grasp on the game to escape them, yet while the second half showed them play with more conviction two big chances eluded Frank de Boer’s men.

Ricardo van Rhijn sliced wide of Marc-André ter Stegen’s goal when he was required to hit the target and, in the 62nd minute, Piqué’s wild swipe at a cross sliced the ball up and onto the roof of his own net. But not in it. For most of the last quarter Enrique played without his goalscorers and Iniesta – with a view to facing Real Madrid CF this weekend.

Consequently the win ended with more game time for youngsters Munir El Haddadi, Rafinha and Sandro Ramírez – whose 94th-minute contribution was to restore the two-goal advantage following Ajax substitute Anwar El Ghazi’s strike.

Απαντήσεις για το ταξίδι του Ερίκ Αμπιντάλ έδωσε ο Μίτσελ, ο οποίος κάλυψε και τον Μποτία, στη συνέντευξη Τύπου εν όψει του αγώνα με τη Γιουβέντους, την Τετάρτη στο «Γ.Καραϊσκάκης».

Ο Ισπανός τεχνικός τόνισε ότι το ταξίδι του Γάλλου ήταν προγραμματισμένο, ενώ για τον Μποτία τόνισε ότι «δεν παίζει μόνος του». Σε ότι αφορά τη Γιουβέντους, τόνισε ότι ο Ολυμπιακός την σέβεται, αλλά θα τραβήξει τον δικό του δρόμο.

Αναλυτικά οι δηλώσεις του Μίτσελ:

Τα στοιχεία που θα πρέπει να έχει ο Ολυμπιακός, όπως τόνισε ο “Τσόρι” και αν θα είναι στην ενδεκάδα ο Αργεντίνος: «Θα παίξει και το ξέρει ο ίδιος και να είναι σημαντικός για μας, όπως πάντα. Κι όπως γνωρίζουμε, στα παιχνίδια του Τσάμπιονς Λιγκ πάντα είναι σημαντικός για μας. Για το πρώτο ερώτημα, στην διοργάνωση, εμείς βρισκόμαστε ανάμεσα στα ματς της Ατλέτικο και της Μάλμε. Ξέρουμε να παίζουμε καλά στα παιχνίδια. Όπως έχουμε δείξει, όχι μόνο κόντρα στην Ατλέτικο, ξέρουμε να παίζουμε σε υψηλό επίπεδο. Απέναντι στην Μάλμε ήμασταν σε υψηλό επίπεδο, αλλά κάναμε λάθη στις δύο περιοχές. Πέρσι κάναμε ένα παρόμοιο ματς στην Λισσαβόνα, αλλά το αποτέλεσμα ήταν θετικό για μας. Γι’ αυτό βρισκόμαστε ανάμεσα σε αυτά τα ματς και είμαστε εμείς που πρέπει να αποφασίσουμε αν θέλουμε να είμαστε σε υψηλό επίπεδο ή να μπούμε σε περιπέτειες όπως με την Μάλμε. Σεβόμαστε τον αντίπαλο, πολύ περισσότερο όταν είναι ένας αντίπαλος όπως η Γιουβέντους. Αλλά εμείς θα τραβήξουμε τον δρόμο μας. Βλέπουμε πως ο κόσμος μιλά καλά για το ποδόσφαιρό μας και την έδρα μας και δείχνει πως μιλά καλά και για μας. Μακάρι να συνεχίσουμε στον ίδιο δρόμο. Πριν να μιλάμε για την ατμόσφαιρα και μετά για το καλό ποδόσφαιρο που έχουμε δείξει».

Το αν ανησυχεί τα πολλά τέρματα που έχουν δεχθεί οι «ερυθρόλευκοι» σε σχέση με την προηγούμενη σεζόν, αλλά και για τον Μποτία και την κριτική που έχει δεχθεί: «Σε σχέση με πέρυσι έχουμε δεχθεί τα ίδια τέρματα. Είχαμε δεχθεί τέσσερα από την Παρί Σεν Ζερμέν και μετά είχαμε πετύχει εμείς τρία με την Άντερλεχτ. Ποτέ δεν μου αρέσει να σχολιάζω μόνο έναν παίκτη, αλλά όλη την ομάδα. Τα γκολ δεν τα δέχεται μόνο ο Μποτία, αλλά όλη η ομάδα. Η ευθύνη είναι δική μου για την επιλογή των παικτών. Την ημέρα που παίξαμε με την Ατλέτικο, ο Μποτία ήταν σε υψηλό επίπεδο, όπως και όλη η ομάδα και γι’ αυτό δεν έγινε καμία ερώτηση για τον παίκτη. Αν αυτό που προσπαθείτε να κάνετε είναι να σχολιάσω αρνητικά κάποιον παίκτη μου, δεν θα το κάνω».

Το αν μπορεί ο Ολυμπιακός να εκμεταλλευτεί τη… φασαρία στην Ιταλία για το γήπεδο και την ατμόσφαιρα και όχι για την ομάδα: «Σε δύο ώρες θα είναι εδώ ο κ. Αλέγκρι. Πιστεύω ότι ο ίδιος θα μιλήσει περισσότερο για την ομάδα και όχι για την ατμόσφαιρα. Σας… απάντησα;».

Το αν η Γιουβέντους, όπως τόνισε ο Λίπι, πως είναι λιγότερο… άγρια και αν ο Μίτσελ προτιμά τον Γιορέντε αντί του Μοράτα: «Είναι λογικό η Γιουβέντους του Κόντε να είναι διαφορετική. Αλλά δεν μπορώ να συγκρίνω την δύναμη, αν είναι άγρια, αλλά είναι καλή. Δεν πιστεύω ότι η δήλωση αυτή ήθελε να μειώσει την αξία της Γιουβέντους, αλλά να δείξει πως είναι διαφορετικές. Ο Γιορέντε δεν έχει σκοράρει ακόμα, ενώ ο Μοράτα είναι ένας τέλειος ποδοσφαιριστής. Τον ξέρω καλά γιατί όταν ήταν 15 ετών είχα συμβάλει στην υπογραφή του από την Χετάφε στην Ρεάλ Μαδρίτης. Αν με ρωτούσε ο κ. Αλέγκρι θα του έλεγα να μην παίξει κανένας από τους δύο. Πιστεύω ότι θα επιλεγεί ο Μοράτα».

Το αν το ματς με την Γιουβέντους θα είναι “ανοικτό” όπως με την Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης ή αν θα… βγει αληθινός ο Ρομπέρτο που τόνισε πως θα κερδίσει ο Ολυμπιακός 1-0 με τον Κασάμι: «Ποτέ κάποιος δεν ξέρει αν το ματς θα είναι ανοικτό. Και με την Ατλέτικο δεν περιμέναμε να σκοράρουμε τρία τέρματα. Όχι για τις δικές μας δυνατότητες, αλλά γιατί οι Ισπανοί δεν είχαν δεχθεί για πολλά ματς πολλά τέρματα. Εμείς θέλουμε να είμαστε σε υψηλό επίπεδο και αν κερδίσουμε 1-0 με κεφαλιά του Κασάμι. Αρχικά να δούμε αν θα παίξει ο Κασάμι. Τα παρουσιάζουμε πολύ εύκολα και τα αποκαλύπτουμε εύκολα. Έχουμε τον Ρομπέρτο, ότι θα παίξει ο Τσόρι, ο κύριος δεν θέλει να παίξει ο Μποτία. Μπορούμε να ψηφίσουμε. Να δούμε αν θα συμφωνείτε κι αν θα μαλώνετε μεταξύ σας. Μακάρι να είναι αυτό το αποτέλεσμα κι ας το βάλει ο Αλκόρτα από κόρνερ».

Το αν αλλάζουν τα πλάνα του ελέω του συστήματος της Γιουβέντους με τρεις αμυντικούς: «Δεν ξέρω αν είναι το πρώτο ματς που αντιμετωπίζουμε με τρεις ή πέντε αμυντικούς. Το έκανε ο ΟΦΗ με τον Γκατούζο που είναι Ιταλός, η Μάλμε έπαιξε σε πολλές περιπτώσεις με τρεις ή πέντε αμυντικούς. Η Γιουβέντους ξέρει να συνδυάζει το σχήμα της. Ο Κάσερες είναι τραυματίας τώρα, αλλά μπορεί να συνδυάζει αυτό. Γνωρίζουμε πως θα παίξει περίπου και έχουμε μια ιδέα για το πως θα την αντιμετωπίσουμε».

Το αν έχετε καταλήξει στους αμυντικούς: «Στο τέλος θα συμφωνήσουμε. Έχουμε ξεκινήσει από τους αμυντικούς και θα καταλήξουμε στους επιθετικούς. Ο Αμπιντάλ είναι καλά. Τι του συμβαίνει; Εδώ και καιρό είχε ζητήσει να κάνει ένα ταξίδι και πριν από τον αγώνα με τον Εργοτέλη, καθώς ξέραμε ότι δεν θα παίξει, συμφωνήσαμε να το κάνει. Θα ήταν μια έκπληξη αν έλειπε ή δεν έπαιζε».

Το αν ήταν πιο χρήσιμες οι συμβουλές του Τοροσίδη ή του Μανωλά και αν εύχεται να κερδίσουνε οι πρώην παίκτες του το καμπιονάτο: «Μίλησα και με τους δύο αλλά είχα ένα πρόβλημα. Μίλησαν στα ελληνικά. Σίγουρα βλέπω την δουλειά τους και την κάνουν πολύ καλά. Το μόνο που τους ζητήσαμε πως αύριο θα υποστηρίζουν τον Ολυμπιακό. Κάτι που σίγουρα θα κάνουν. Θέλω να κερδίζουν οι φίλοι μου. Έχω φίλους και στην Ρόμα και την Γιουβέντους».

Τους παίκτες του Ολυμπιακού εκπροσώπησε ο Τσόρι Ντομίνγκες ο οποίος τόνισε:

«Πιστεύω πως για εμάς είναι ένα πολύ σημαντικό ματς αυτό με την Γιουβέντους. Ένα ματς που όλοι θα κοιτάξουμε να απολαύσουμε. Υπάρχουν πράγματα που κάναμε με Ατλέτικο και Μάλμε που θα προσπαθήσουμε να επαναλάβουμε. Το καλύτερο είναι να κάνουμε μία μείξη των καλών πραγμάτων που πετύχαμε στους δύο αγώνες».

Για το αν το όνομα της Γιουβέντους αποτελεί έξτρα κίνητρο για τον Ολυμπιακό: «Για εμάς πάντα είναι κίνητρο να παίζουμε κόντρα σε τέτοιες ομάδες. Αν και το μεγαλύτερο κίνητρο είναι να υπερασπιζόμαστε τα χρώματα του Ολυμπιακού. Έχουμε ευθύνη και υποχρέωση να πάρουμε το παιχνίδι με τη “Γιούβε”, διότι θα μας φέρει σε καλή θέση στο μέλλον».

Για το αν ήρθε η ώρα να σκοράρει: «Μακάρι εάν θέλει ο Θεός να σκοράρω. Το σημαντικό είναι η ομάδα να κερδίσει. Πρώτα να ρωτήσουμε τον Μίτσελ εάν θα με βάλει να παίξω (σ.σ. γέλια). Και εάν παίξω θα προσπαθήσω να κάνω καλή δουλειά. Εάν έρθει το γκολ καλώς να έρθει, αλλιώς ας το βάλει άλλος».

Για την ατμόσφαιρα που δημιουργούν οι φίλαθλοι του Ολυμπιακού: «Πιστεύω πως πραγματικά είναι μία έδρα που προκαλεί σεβασμό. Δεν είναι εύκολο για κανέναν να παίξει εδώ. Είναι σίγουρο πως αύριο θα χρειαστούμε τον κόσμο μας και πως θα είναι κάτι που θα έχουμε υπέρ μας. Είναι αλήθεια πως στο παρελθόν ήμουν κοντά στο να υπογράψω στη Γιουβέντους. Είναι όμως παρελθόν. Τώρα υπάρχει το αυριανό ματς και πρέπει να σκεφτώ αυτό, αλλά και τα χρώματα της ομάδας που υπερασπίζομαι».

Για την εικόνα της «Γιούβε» και το αν έχει μιλήσει με τον Κάρλος Τέβες: «Δεν έχω μιλήσει με τον Τέβες. Προετοιμάζοντας το ματς με τη Γιουβέντους είναι πολλά που σκεφτήκαμε. Είναι πολλά που πρέπει να προσέξεις. Εμείς, παρ΄όλο που γνωρίζουμε πως θα είναι ένα δύσκολο ματς, έχουμε μεγάλη εμπιστοσύνη στις ικανότητές μας».

Παριζιάνοι στην Κύπρο

Τιάγκο Σίλβα και Νταβίντ Λουίζ προπονήθηκαν αμφότεροι στην Λευκωσία την Δευτέρα, έτσι δεν αποκλείεται να δούμε στην Κύπρο το κεντρικό αμυντικό δίδυμο της εθνικής Βραζιλίας να παίζει για πρώτη φορά μαζί σε επίσημο ματς της Παρί Σεν-Ζερμέν.

Ο Λοράν Μπλαν σίγουρα δεν έχει διαθέσιμους τους Ιμπραχίμοβιτς, Μαρκίνιος και Λαβέτσι, ενώ ο προπονητής του ΑΠΟΕΛ, Γιώργος Δώνης, έχει πολλά προβλήματα, με τους Αλωνεύτη, Παπάζογλου και Κίσσα να έχουν βγει νοκ-άουτ και αρκετούς ακόμη να αντιμετωπίζουν μικροπροβλήματα, όπως οι Μαντούκα και Ντε Βινσέντι, αλλά οι συγκεκριμένοι αναμένεται να είναι διαθέσιμοι.

We have a massive game against an impressive side who are looking to win this competition. They have a wealth of quality individual players in a big squad. As for us, our aim is to be competitive in every game and to get as many points as we can. I believe that at home, although we respect our opponents, we need to show our strength.

We head into this game in the same manner as our previous two games in this competition. For us, every game is crucial and we aim to do our utmost on the pitch. Even in Barcelona, we were still in it right up until the end, while against Ajax we could have won. I don’t expect this game to be any different – we can compete against them and I believe we will.

We are not happy with the amount of points we have amassed so far because we feel we should have got three against Ajax. But then again, we need to remember that we got what I feel was the toughest draw. I believe we and Ajax will have a very tough job against Paris and Barcelona, so our plan is to be competing for third place right until the final matchday.

Thiago Silva is a player with great quality who is returning from injury. He is also the captain, and his work rate means his return is very positive for us. He has impressed us in training, especially in terms of his stamina, which is important.

The Champions League is important for us – we want to compete in it and to win it. APOEL are used to playing in Europe and they have quality players. We have seen their recent games in the Champions League – they looked very strong against Ajax, so we must be focused and ready for a tough game.

We will try to play our own game. We know that they are very disciplined and are dangerous on the counterattack, as we saw against Barcelona and Ajax. They maintain their shape well. They don’t have too much of the ball, but they are dangerous when they do. APOEL are the top team in Cyprus and so it looks like they monopolise possession there, but in Europe they have to play counterattacking football. They have a tall striker [Cillian Sheridan] up front who they always look out for and who makes them dangerous from set pieces.

Pep Guardiola is one of the best coaches in the world; he has won so much at Barcelona, with a very good way of playing. He was proud to go to a club that had won everything the year before, but he proved to be the right person for them.

Bayern haven’t conceded a goal for a couple of months? We do not fear them; we have no fear of anybody, to be honest. We know that tomorrow we will play against a great team with great players, but we have great players too and we’re playing in our stadium. In a match like this, we will not be spectators. And I have real belief that we can get a positive result.

We want to get to the round of 16 and, if we get three points tomorrow, we’ll be confident we can do that.

We will have to produce a complete performance to beat Ajax, a team of many strengths. Ajax are a well-structured side, one that knows how to attack, how to press. Last season they created many problems for Barcelona.

This is our third match. We won one, lost the second and this one is very important. We are at home and it is key to our qualification. Sergio Busquets is at my disposal. Tomorrow morning we will see how he feels and whether he is fit to take part in the game.

We are used to playing every three or four days. At the moment, all of our thoughts are on the Ajax game. The players understand the importance of these three points if we want to progress from the group. Then we will have our training sessions to decide how to approach the Clásico. I will have no doubts about my team at the Santiago Bernabéu, regardless of the result against Ajax.

All three goalkeepers are ready to play. We will see tomorrow morning and decide during the day. Ajax’s positional play is very good. They can play short and long passes and they find solutions in all areas. They press in defence − they don’t hesitate − and counterattack really well.

I want to see much pleasure and joy [tomorrow]. We can get a result in this game. Last year [when Ajax defeated Barcelona in Amsterdam] we saw that we can get something from such a match. But, for that, we have to perform at our maximum level. Barcelona are at a higher level compared to us and have more experience. For every team playing here, it is difficult to collect points, but we will try.

For me, the most important thing is that we play according to our style and with confidence. I believe that we have grown [compared to the last season], and that we are not inferior to big teams. This is our moment; we just have to keep faith in our philosophy. We have to play our football and do it in the best possible way. We have some key players out injured and it is a great pity for the team, but we have others to come in for them.

[Lionel] Messi’s quality is such that he can score from any position. I believe he is playing more aggressively now than last season. He always want to play, he never wants to be substituted. It is no accident that he was named the best player in the world on several occasions. It is unbelievable to have set all those records at such a young age. For me, he is the best player in the world. Not just because of his goals − he also has made many assists over the last couple of years. A complete player.
