……..ΟΛΟΙ ΜΑΖΙ ΜΙΑ ΜΕΓΑΛΗ ΟΜΑΔΑ…..

Μπορεί η συμμετοχή της αποστολής του Δήμου Πατρέων στους παγκόσμιους παιδικούς αγώνες του Lake Macquarie της Αυστραλίας να μπήκε στο χρονοντούλαπο της ιστορίας και να κρίθηκε αγωνιστικά πέρα ως πέρα πετυχημένη, αλλού όμως κερδίθηκε το ” χρυσό ” μετάλλιο που έκανε όλους τους πανταχού Έλληνες υπερήφανους για διάφορους λόγους.

Σαφώς και η αναφορά γίνεται για την ομογένεια του Sydney και του Newcastle που έγιναν οι αγώνες, αλλά και όλου του Νότιου-Ανατολικού τόξου της ομογένειας της Αυστραλίας, αφού διαμέσου των ΜΜΕ με συντονιστές τον κ. Παύλο Θεοδωρακόπουλο (καταγωγή απο Πλάτανο Αιγίου) στο Sydney, την κ. Ευγενία Παυλοπούλου (καταγωγή απο Πάτρα) στην Μελβούρνη, τον κ. Θωμά Τσαμούρα (καταγωγή απο Καρδίτσα) στο Newcastle, η αποστολή της πόλης μας μονοπωλούσε την επικαιρότητα στην αχανή Αυστραλία.

Τι να πρωτοθυμηθώ:
Την υποδοχή στο αεροδρόμιο του Sydney απο την Αχαική Ομοσπονδία;
Την χαρά των αθλητών μας με την διαμονή τους στις Ολυμπιακές εγκαταστάσεις του Sydney 2000;

Το δάκρυ του προέδρου των Καλαβρυτινών του Sydney κ. Κώστα Κολοβού(απο το Τρεχλό) με το άκουσμα του εθνικού μας ύμνου;
Την χαρά της προέδρου των Πατρινών του Sydney κ. Κατερίνας Βέτσικας-Κρίκη(απο την Κρήνη) που ξαναέγινε παιδί και έτρεχε με τα Πατρινόπουλα μέρα νύχτα μαζί με την θεία μου….κ. Βάσω Γκοστοπούλου(απο το Σαραβάλι);

Την άψογη τελετή προς τιμήν μας που διοργάνωσε ο π. Νικόλαος Σκορδίλης των Αγίων Αποστόλων της Ελληνικής Ορθόδοξης Kοινότητας του Newcastle παρουσία πλήθους ομογενών της περιοχής και την συγκίνηση όλων που είχαν δίπλα τους παιδιά της Μάνας Ελλάδος;

Την υπερηφάνια ζωγραφισμένη στα προσωπάκια των ομογενών της Μαγδαλινής και του Γιωργάκη Τσαμούρα φορώντας της φανέλες που τους χάρισαν οι αθλητές μας;

Ότι ανώνυμοι και επώνυμοι ομογενείς μας τίμησαν με το που μας έβαλαν στα σπίτια τους και μας φιλοξένησαν με όλες τις τιμές;

Τις δεξιώσεις προς τιμήν μας:
της Αχαικής ομοσπονδίας δια του προέδρου της κ. Κώστα Σκουτέρη – στο σπίτι των Καλαβρυτινών – παρουσία όλων των συλλόγων της ομοσπονδίας με πολλά μέλη τους δια των εκπροσώπων τους: της Αγίας Βαρβάρας κ. Βαγγέλη Κρικέτου, του Διακοπτού κ. Ανδρέα Καλαβρυτινού, του Χελμού κ. Βασίλη Αρφάνη, του Πλάτανου κ. Δημήτρη Κατσίνα, των Καλαβρυτινών κ. Κώστα Κολοβού και των Πατρινών κ. Κατερίνας Βέτσικας – Κρίκη; και του Πρόξενου στο Sydney κ. Σταύρου Κυρίμη – στο Ελληνικό εστιατόριο Ταξίδι- και τη συγκίνηση όλων των ομογενών, έχοντας δίπλα τους Ελληνόπουλα που τους έκαναν υπερήφανους μέσα στην χώρα που ζούν και εργάζονται, κάνοντάς τους δύο φορές υπερήφανους αφού η Ελληνική σημαία υψώθηκε στους Αυστραλιανούς ουρανούς δύο φορές μάλιστα με τα μετάλια του Θάνου Ζαφειρόπουλου;

Την παρουσία του πρέσβη της Ελλάδος στην Αυστραλία κ. Χαράλαμπου Δαφαράνου ο οποίος ταξίδεψε απο την Καμπέρα για την τελετή έναρξής των αγώνων στο Lake Macquarie και ήταν αυτός που μας έκανε τις υποδείξεις και μας σύστησε στην ομογένεια της Αυστραλίας;

Ότι στην πόλη του Newcatle επίσημα η Πατρινή αθλητική αποστολή είναι η δεύτερη Ελληνική στην ιστορία της πόλης που επισκέπτεται την πόλη τους, με πρώτη την ομάδα του ποδοσφαίρου του Άρη Θεσσαλονίκης πριν απο 20 χρόνια!!!

Τους πανηγυρισμούς κάθε επιτυχίας των αθλητών μας μαζί με τους ομογενείς;
Την ανταπόκριση όλων των ομογενών -καλύπτοντας ένα πάρα πολύ μεγάλο οικονομικό κόστος της αποστολής μας – όπως η Αχαική Ομοσπονδία, ο Αλέξανδρος Μπορνιβέλλι(Europa Alumin Australia), ο Πέτρος Βασιλειάδης(Ray White), ο Ανδρέας Σουβαλιώτης(advancedaircon) και μαζί με τις Loux Natural Greek Pleasure, Super Cargo, Υδάτωρ Α.Ε., ΟΛΠΑ Α.Ε., Papino, τον Ιερό Ναό του Αγίου Ανδρέα, το μουσείο τύπου, την κοινωφελή επιχείριση του Δήμου Πατρέων Πατρινό Καρναβάλι, το κομμωτήριο creation και την ΣΤ΄ Εφορία Αρχαιοτήτων που κατάφεραν με τις χορηγίες τους να φέρουν σε πέρας την αποστολή μας.

Με όλες τις παραπάνω αναμνήσεις και εμπειρίες ο καθένας καταλαβαίνει ότι ο ΄Ελληνας Ομογενής είναι δύο φορές Έλληνας και η λησμονιά και η αγάπη του για την Μάνα Ελλάδα είναι τόσο μεγάλη που τον διακρίνει σε όλες του τις εκδηλώσεις. Προσωπικά με έκαναν να αισθανθώ ότι βρισκόμουν ανάμεσα στην οικογένειά μου και ότι πλέον απέκτησα πολλά ακόμη ” αδέρφια ” στην μακρινή Αυστραλία.

Τέλος θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω όλους τους παραπάνω για την βοήθεια και την συνεισφορά του καθένα ξεχωριστά για την πραγματοποίηση της αποστολής του Δήμου Πατρέων στους παγκόσμιους παιδικούς αγώνες της Αυστραλίας, καθώς και του Δημάρχου Πατρέων κ. Κώστα Πελετίδη, του αντιδημάρχου κ. Ανδρέα Αθανασόπουλου, του συμβούλου του Δημάρχου Πατρέων επί αθλητικών θεμάτων κ.Τάκη Πετρόπουλου, του Δημοτικού Συμβουλίου και του εκλεγμένου μέλους του icg committee κ. Νικολάου Τζανάκου για την εμπιστοσύνη που έδειξαν προς το πρόσωπο μου να ηγηθώ και να οργανώσω την αποστολή του Δήμου Πατρεών στους αγώνες, ενώ δημόσια θα ήθελα να ευχαριστήσω και τους υπαλλήλους του αθλητικού τμήματος του Δήμου Πατρέων για την συνεργασία και την βοήθειά τους για την εκπλήρωση των διαδικαστικών της αποστολής.

Perth Glory will be aiming to continue their hot form in the A-League when they take on Melbourne City on Boxing Day.

Perth Glory coach Kenny Lowe insists he has no issues with the club’s Asian Cup snub, saying it could help their A-League title bid.

Despite sitting six points clear on top of the table, the Glory failed to have a single player named in the Socceroos’ 23-man squad for the Asian Cup.

Midfielder Mitch Nichols couldn’t be considered due to a hamstring injury, while 17-year-old whiz kid Danny De Silva and defender Josh Risdon failed to make the final cut.

Glory will be back in action on Friday night when they take on a resurgent Melbourne City at AAMI Park.

Lowe said he couldn’t fault Socceroos coach Ange Postecoglou for picking the squad he did.

“He does it as he sees fits,” Lowe said.

“Everybody’s got an opinion, but he’s the guy that’s got to do the job. So just support him and hopefully the Australian team does very well.

“From a personal viewpoint of the players, they’ll be disappointed (to miss out).

“But from me and a purely selfish club perspective, I’m absolutely happy that no one has gone to the Australian team.

“We’ll have a nice three-week break, everybody gets refreshed, and then hopefully we’re all fit and raring to go for the second part of the season.”

After a slow start to the campaign, the star-studded Melbourne City are starting to emerge as a genuine finals contender.

Last week’s 1-0 win over arch rivals Melbourne Victory gave them a much-needed boost, and they’re set to welcome back star import Damien Duff (calf) for the Boxing Day clash with Perth.

Fit-again international marquee Robbie Koren is also ready to fire after playing 29 minutes off the bench last week.

But midfielder Massimo Murdocca will miss the match after re-injuring his ankle at training.

Glory, who thrashed Central Coast 4-1 last week, will welcome back Risdon from suspension.

Lowe said Melbourne City would provide a stern challenge for his group.

“They’re on a high after giving their neighbours a bit of a dusting last week, so they’ll be buzzing,” Lowe said.

“They play some great football. It will be a really tough game for us.”

Ο Νεϊμάρ θα επεκτείνει το συμβόλαιό του με την Μπαρτσελόνα ως το καλοκαίρι του 2020, αφού αυτή είναι κοινή επιθυμία του ίδιου και της ομάδας του, όπως αναφέρει η καταλανική “Sport”.

Στην Μπαρτσελόνα ονειρεύεται το μέλλον του ο Νεϊμάρ και εκεί θέλει να μείνει για πολλά ακόμη χρόνια. Το συμβόλαιό του ολοκληρώνεται το καλοκαίρι του 2018, όμως τόσο ο ίδιος όσο και οι Καταλανοί θέλουν να το επεκτείνουν μέχρι το 2020.

Σύμφωνα με την καταλανική “Sport”, ο Βραζιλιάνος αισθάνεται πολύ χαρούμενος στην ομάδα και δεν θέλει με τίποτα να αποχωρήσει, ενώ κάτι τέτοιο επιβεβαιώνει και ο ατζέντης του, Βάγκνερ Ριμπέιρο. Μάλιστα, επίκειται ραντεβού μέσα στο επόμενο 15θήμερο, προκειμένου να δρομολογηθούν οι εξελίξεις.

Melbourne Victory midfielder Gui Finkler says the club is primed to bounce back after the disappointment of last week’s local derby loss when it hosts Newcastle Jets on Saturday night.

There will be no rest for a hurting Victory on Christmas Day – which will include a training session – after its A-League unbeaten run came to an end.

Victory tasted defeat for the first time this season in a 1-0 loss to cross-town rival Melbourne City.

Midfielder Gui Finkler said the disappointment of losing local bragging rights would spur on his side against the Jets.

“It’s not good to get the first loss, but we knew one day it could happen,” Finkler said.

“Now we’re just looking forward to Saturday and we’ll work even harder to make sure we perform better than we did.

“The derby is a special game and everyone wants to win, but we didn’t get the points. We move on and make sure we get back to the performances that we’ve had in the beginning of the season.”

The derby marked Finkler’s return from a groin injury with Kevin Muscat bringing the Brazilian off the bench.

“I felt pretty good when I came on,” Finkler said.

“I’ve been training hard this week and last week too and my body is feeling much better than it was.

“I think I needed that break and now I’m feeling fresh.”

Saturday’s game at AAMI Park is the third in a run of four matches played in Victoria, with Muscat’s men desperate to better capitalise after taking just one point from the first two fixtures.

“We still have another two games at home and we want to make sure we get as many points as we can,” Finkler said.

“It’s going to be a tough match, but we’re looking forward to it.

“They won their last game and got their confidence back, but we’ll just focus on our game and our structure.”

Ο κ.Σαρρής τόνισε ότι η παραίτησή του έχει να κάνει με το θέμα της επιχορήγησης των χρημάτων της Πολιτείας στις Ενώσεις του Ερασιτεχνικού πρωταθλήματος, ενώ προσέθεσε ότι «έχω οικογένεια και παιδιά και πρέπει να κοιτάξω και τον εαυτό μου».

Γιατί έλαβε την απόφαση να παραιτηθεί από την προεδρία της ΕΠΟ

«Είναι προσωπική απόφαση. Την απόφαση την πήρα την Παρασκευή μετά την άρση της φορολογικής ενημερότητας από την αρμόδια ΔΟΥ, το… Αρμόδιο Υπουργείο. Δεν μπορώ να κυκλοφορώ στην Ελλάδα και να λένε ότι φταίει ο Σαρρής και η ΕΠΟ που έταξε ο Υπουργός και έχουν κόντρα μαζί του. Τώρα που έφυγα εγώ ας δώσουν τα χρήματα στο Ερασιτεχνικό ποδόσφαιρο. Δεν επιδέχεται καμίας αμφισβήτησης. Έχετε δει κανένα ευνομούμενο κράτος να δίνει φορολογική ενημερότητα και αν χρωστάει στον πολίτη χρήματα από το 2011. Κατέθεσα και εγώ τα χαρτιά μου. Εκτός από τν ΕΠΟ, εργάζομαι, έχω οικογένεια, παιδιά και έπρεπε να κοιτάξω και αυτό. Ο καθένας μπορεί να πει ό,τι θέλει. Εσείς αν ήσασταν στη θέση μου και σας έλεγαν ότι ευθύνεστε που η ΕΠΟ και το Ερασιτεχνικό ποδόσφαιρο έχασαν 2 εκατ. ευρώ, τι θα κάνατε; Γιατί τόσο καιρό δεν έκαναν τίποτα; Έλεγε ότι χάθηκαν και περιμένουμε να δούμε αν θα μπορούν να δοθούν. Υπάρχει μία χρυσή ευκαιρία η ΓΓΑ να δώσει τα χρήματα στα ερασιτεχνικά σωματεία και στις Ενώσεις».

Για την Εθνική Ελλάδας και τον Κλαούντιο Ρανιέρι:

«Η συμφωνία με τον κ. Ρανιέρι επέλθει την Παρασκευή. Έχει λήξει αυτό το θέμα. Το ανακοίνωσα στο Συμβούλιο. Η αποζημίωση είναι 500.00 και η πρώτη δόση είναι από την 1η Μαΐου».

Για τα όσα λέγονται για την ενδεχόμενη κάθοδο στις βουλευτικές εκλογές με τον ΣΥΡΙΖΑ:

«Δεν πρόκειται σε αυτή τη ζωής μου να εμπλακώ στην πολιτική. Στο ποδόσφαιρο θα παραμείνω για πάντα. Είμαι από μικρό παιδί στα γήπεδα και θα συνεχίσω να ασχολούμαι».

Hellenic Football Federation (EPO) president Giorgos Sarris tendered his resignation on Tuesday during the federation’s board meeting, under the pressure generated by a match-fixing scandal involving 16 people, according to judicial authorities, including some members of the EPO administration.

A bitter Sarris did not attribute his resignation to the court case that is soon due to be heard, but used his standoff with the government as a pretext for his departure.

Last Friday the state revoked EPO’s tax clearance, which would allow the Ministry of Culture and Sports to fund soccer clubs and associations directly rather than via the federation.

Sarris stated on the EPO website that “it is a shame, after all these years without any [money from the state], for the associations and clubs to miss out on these breadcrumbs on the pretext that EPO does not have tax clearance. I categorically refute that, and this is the main reason why I have made this decision,” he said, making no reference to the match-fixing scandal.

Sarris’s two-years stint at EPO has also been associated with the hiring of Italian manager Claudio Ranieri, whose contract was formally terminated on Tuesday after Greece had one point and three losses in four games.

His legacy also includes a tussle with former Greece coach Fernando Santos over the Portuguese manager’s departure from Brazil, and an argument with former Greece team manager Takis Fyssas over the latter’s involvement in the selection of Ranieri.

Sarris is also said to be eyeing a switch to politics, as he is expected to be on SYRIZA’s ticket on his native island of Chios in the next general election.

The next EPO president will be elected by the presidents of the soccer associations next month.

Australia has risen two spots to number 100 in FIFA’s world rankings without playing a game.

The Socceroos were ranked 102 in late November after their loss to Japan, but have risen to 100 in the rankings which were released overnight.

It means Australia will enter next month’s Asian Cup on home soil with the 10th highest ranking of the Asian nations.

Greece has also moved up one spot to 24, as has Cyprus, which sits 87th.

The top three remain unchanged since September, with Germany still leading the world followed by Argentina and Colombia.

The Western Sydney Wanderers’ frustrating Club World Cup campaign ended with a loss on penalties to African champions ES Setif of Algeria in the play-off for fifth place in Marrakesh.

Meanwhile, Auckland City’s fairytale run came to end in the semi-finals following a 2-1 defeat to Argentina’s San Lorenzo in extra time.

Wanderers imports Romeo Castelan and Vitor Saba scored brilliant goals in either half, as the match was locked at 2-2 after 90 minutes.

With no extra time played in the fifth-place play-off, back-up goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis made three saves in a marathon penalty shoot-out but was also one of four Wanderers players to miss a spot kick as ET Setif claimed the win.

The defeat ended a tumultuous campaign which featured threats of a player strike over prize money and a controversial 3-1 extra time loss to Mexican side Cruz Azul in the quarter-finals.

The Wanderers still take home $1.2 million in prizemoney for finishing sixth.

The Wanderers will now return to Australia to focus on reversing their poor A-League form, which has them sitting last after 10 rounds.

For the one-time boy wonder of Australian football, it wasn’t that long ago that Terry Antonis was wondering what he had done wrong.

A collapsed big-money transfer deal, season-ending injuries, form concerns and even a car accident conspired to make him feel as though he’d been cursed from above. But with selection in the Socceroos squad for next month’s Asian Cup, suddenly everything seems back on course for the 21-year old.

Now he is just hoping he can get to the airport to fly to Melbourne for the Socceroos training camp next week without incident – unlike the last time he was called up in November, when a collision put him in hospital and out of the friendly match against Japan.

“I was devastated when I couldn’t go to that camp because of the car accident,” Antonis said on Tuesday.

“It was such a freaky thing and you never know what’s going to happen with the national team and when you’ll get your next chance to impress.

“I was so upset because it could have been a big setback. But I went back to Sydney FC, just kept doing what I’d been doing and stayed focused on playing well for them. Thankfully that proved enough.”

Antonis is a full year younger than any other player in the squad but his travails meant the call-up was brought relief as much as pride for the one-time Sydney Olympic junior.

“To get picked for a national team at any age group is a huge honour but to be picked for the Socceroos for a huge tournament on home soil is just another level,” he said.

“That’s what every player dreams about. I can’t wait to play in a tournament where the whole crowd is behind you and there’s such a big prize on the line.”

On face value, Antonis will have a hard time cracking the trio of Mile Jedinak, Mark Milligan and Mark Bresciano, who appear to have a lock on Australia’s central midfield triangle. However, he is more than confident of stepping in should coach Ange Postecoglou call his name.

“If I get that chance, I’ll give everything to make it work and to do my bit,” he said. “There are some big-name players in there. I’ve known Tim Cahill for a long time but to play and train with him and these others will be an amazing experience. I want to learn and but also play my part.”

While he boasts just three caps for the senior team, he has accumulated 30 under-age caps for Australia and is better versed than most when it comes to playing in tournament conditions.

“I’ve been to the Asian Cup for the under-20s and went under-20s World Cup as an under-age player, although I had to pull out of the one for my own age group because of a quad injury,” Antonis said. “I’ve been through a lot of tournaments already, which I hope gives me an idea of what to expect.”

From outside, the evolution of his game from bit-part contributor to star midfielder can easily be traced to the arrival of coach Graham Arnold at Sydney FC. Antonis happily confirms the theory when pressed on what has made this season so different.

“What ‘Arnie’ has done for my game and my development is just something I’m so thankful for. He just knows how to get the best out of every player,” he said. “He and ‘Clarky’ [fitness coach Andrew Clark] have done wonders for me. It’s the first time I’ve had no niggles and I’m playing without restrictions on my body each week. It’s made a big difference.”

A big difference will come on Antonis’ price tag, too. Sydney must thank their lucky stars the $300,000 deal to send him to Italian club Parma fell through 18 months ago. It is hard to think he is now worth anything less than $1 million.

“When I sat down down and spoke with my agent, it actually wasn’t a hard choice to stay.” he said.

“This is a great club and I’ll always love playing for Sydney. I still want to go abroad, of course. But at the moment, I’m in the national team and I’m still learning from some great coaches.”

Antonis will get one final hitout with the Sky Blues, at home against Adelaide United on Boxing Day, before linking up with the national team a day later.

“It’s an important game for us because we’ve let ourselves down a little bit in recent weeks,” he said. “We probably didn’t put away our chances against Wellington and that cost us. That’s made a win on Friday even more important.”
