Frankston’s newest Greek Orthodox church will have it’s first service on Sunday, with Archbishop Stylianos, Bishop Ezekiel and Bishop Iakovos to attend.
Frankston’s newest Orthodox parish will have it’s opening sanctification ceremony on Sunday 9 November.
Not long after the church’s fifth anniversary, the bell has been mounted atop, waiting to be rung after the Orthros at 8.00 am, followed by a celebratory mass in front of the new church building.
His Grace Archishop Stylianos, and both supporting fathers, Bishop Ezekiel of Dervis and Bishop Iakovos of Militeoupolis will consecrate the opening before the auctioning of the church’s three keys and bless the congregation during the first liturgy of the Holy Epiphany temple.
The new church shall then open its doors to the Frankston faithful for the first time.
The Mass will be followed by a panigyri, with a rich open buffet and live Greek music provided by the board of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese. In addition, there will be buses picking up church members from Oakleigh’s Agion Anargyron temple (9.20 am), Dandenong’s Agio Panteleimona and Clayton’s Trion Ierarchon Church (10.00 am), to deepen friendship among the Greek Orthodox community and share the thrill of the new building’s inauguration. The buses will return the members to the neighbouring parishes after the end of the celebrations at 2.30 pm.
